This video is the best example of what senior retirees need - excellent socializing with a good friend, almost never ending conversations under the sun, coffee to add. Very healthy for the body and soul. Paul, you have been doing entertaining and inspiring videos, love it. Good luck to Bud Brown in going back to America or moving to Mexico.

Paul, I don’t live in the Philippines, nor am I considering moving there. I keep returning to your channel, though, because the content is just so darn interesting. Looking back, do you ever say to yourself I missed my calling in life; I should have taken broadcasting as my major and or gone into TV or radio. I’m convinced you would have been a great success.

I dunno... I calculated at 50% of average earnings that an Aussie made 11k this week alone and only presents himself for maybe a minute in the entire video as its just a collection of clips really. Yet he also has complete control over the content. Maybe this is Paul's real calling instead and I agree he is lots of fun to view at times.

This was a wonderfully heart-felt sendoff to your old pal Bud Brown. I guess you could look at it as “until we meet again” versus “goodbye.” I really liked Bud’s idea that he is running to something (his daughter & family) rather than running away from something (the Philippines). You consistently give us great wisdom without advice and preaching. Bravo Paul!

Great talk guys! I agree about the stresses in the US, particularly now with prices being jacked up and inflation hitting literally everything. My wife now understands how our "great salaries" goes away so quickly. I had to come back for work, after being overseas for 10 years, about 2 years ago and my stress level and anxiety is about 300% higher now than when I lived in the Phils...and I lived in Metro Manila. I can't wait to get back this summer. Best of luck in your travels, Bud.

When returning to Philippines with my wife we used to exclusively take PAL. Unfortunately post Covid their service has gone downhill. We now transfer through Taipei Taiwan and if you book far enough in advance you can usually get a fare that’s $300.-$500. Cheaper than PAL with only an extra 3hrs in total travel time. We usually spend 2.25hrs layover in TPE on the inbound and 4hrs on the outbound and the airport is a breeze to navigate for transfers if you stay on the same airline. The restaurant Paul referred to at LAX was probably the Encounter restaurant in the Theme building. A kind of space age design reminiscent of a flying saucer. It closed in 2013. The USO office that was previously in another terminal ( I think terminal #5) moved to the ground floor of the Theme building in 2018.

Exactly brothers, its so much expensive now in the states. You will be surprised. Most expats live in other low cost living countries like the Philippines because of the make or break retirement budget like I do. I am fortunate enough to have a dual citizenship. Moved to the Philippines when my dad suffered a stroke, took care of him until his last breath. Lived in the states for almost 27 years. I have contemplated in deep thoughts to retire at age 62 next year, hence I can claim benefits which in turn will make my financial position a lot better and encouraging. Personally, this is the best scenario for me. Everywhere we go there are pros and cons living in other countries. The most important thing is you are living mostly in a stress free condition considering its economic impact and enjoying what remains of us in this uncertain times. God bless us all. Be safe.

Throughout the video I think it can be easily seen Paul, that parting is such sweet sorrow. Hit it off with someone, establish a friendship, then off they go. Really no different then you or any expat have experienced the day you decided to depart the U.S. But you have to follow your heart, do whatever 'you' think will make you happy. Because not doing that is only cheating yourself. Like Bud said, "We'll do okay." Never makes it any easier to see someone leave though. So it's "Until we meet again." You're a good man Paul. Wish you, baby Mae, and Bud all the best.

It's a racial & cultural as well as people generally prefer to be around people that look and act like themselves. No matter how long you live in Thailand you'll never be Thai. I watched a recent video where a dude though very comfortable and spoke the language decided to leave Bali Indonesia for Portugal for the above reasons despite the better bang for his buck in the former.

I think age has a role in it. When people become very old they often prefer to be in countries with stable power, water, ambulance, emergency medical services, etc. Very little is disability accessible in most developing countries. Then there are the issues related to who will make medical decisions, quality of life decisions for you if you get incapacitated. At least in the USA we have protection for the aged offices. As a single female, living overseas can't be my plan unless I'm in good health. Men who marry locals are really at their mercy especially as the man ages and the wife is quite young. Expat women rarely marry locals so don't have that support system. I'm lucky because I've lived all over the world and enjoyed every minute but when I'm much older--- not sure if I want to expat. Even now physically noticing a huge difference between myself today and 20 years ago.

1:45 The flight time difference is all about the rotation of the earth. When flying with the rotation it will take longer because your destination is "running away from you" and when flying against the rotation of the earth your destination "is run to you". Wind can not be accounted for in the displayed flight times accurately by the airlines.

Paul, you were talking about the guy taking the long trip home… about 2 weeks ago, I was shopping for flights to the Philippines and one really jumped out at me… it was actually a little cheeper the PAL… Qatar Royal Air or what ever it’s name is… it’s basically an around the world trip to Manila… leaves SFO flys to New York then Heads off to Dubai where you have a day long layover, before catching the next flight to Manila. I’ve already crossed the date line both tropics as well as the equator several times… I’ve completed Route 66, why not around the world, at a third tge price of most round the world tickets?😁

Paul we all liked Bud Browns videos I've watched his channel at least 7 years and cone to respect him a lot he is such a stand up guy you never hear anything critical from nhim he helped a lot iff locals there also and I learnt a lot about the philipines from him I retired in 2017 and went to philipines to retire and I love it like the stress free environment simple liveing and the freedom we have liveing there the world has changed a lot in last 10 years and not in a good way In my opinion. But who am I too judge I brought my home here 2 years before I retired my wife asked me if idd retire over there and she had moved to Australia to be with me. I thought the least I could do is try for her but idd pretty well decided too anyhow. I know by buying a home here if anything happened it's hers I was ok with that as was not big money compared to my home in Australia which I still own Getting back t I Bud I feel we have been lucky to see his look on life and he would be the most admired expat liveing here and has passed his knowledge on to us Love your channel you do it very well take care keep the videos comming
