What a creative, humble and compassionate soul. When he talks about the people he's touched through his and Jerry's lyrics there is such a genuine gratitude to have actually been able to reach people in that way.

Layne had a big heart. He was not some heartless junkie. All those journalists bad mouthing him deserve to get punched in the face.Layne will live on in the music he left us.

Everyone tried to help him. He was in rehab 14 times. He really really tried to get better. He lived way longer than anybody expected. He was so special, it's not fair that he is gone, but I do know that his friends and family did try everything. He simply didn't want to stop using, and then couldn't stop due to withdrawal. RIP, Layne. I think of you every day.

i have dealt with and am still dealing with my own heroin/opiate addiction and i kno how tgh it really fucking is, so i have a lot of sympathy for layne! if many of us had the money at our fingertips that layne did we would have similar endings to him, so we should not be so quick to judge him! he was one of the best singers in rock EVER, his voice is fucking so unique and singers have been trying to steal his style since he started! RIP layne, you will always be missed! new aic is cool tho!

You're actually wrong. April 5, 2002 IS the exact date that Layne died from a Speedball overdose. Mike Starr was there the day before, on the 4th. They got into an argument because Layne told him that he was so stupid when he was high on those pills he was on at the time. Mike confessed to all this on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Didn't you know all this? The stuff that "hipcatjz" said 3 months ago in his comment on here is 100% true. You can't dispute this, no matter what.

No, Mike was at Layne's house on the 4th, but thats not when he died. Mike decided not to call 911 because Layne didn't want the help. They argued a bit about his condition and how he should seek medical help etc. and the "party" ended with Mike storming out and Layne calling to him, "No, dont leave like this". The next day Layne speedballed and died.

Generally, a blood morphine level of 0.5mg/L is caused by 75 mg - 80 mg of heroin, the established maximum lethal dose, even for severe addicts. A blood level of 1.52 mg/L generally indicates an original dose of approximately 225 mg - 240 mg of heroin.

Always amazed me that such huge, powerful, belts could ROAR 🦁 out of Layne out of no where, talking voice so soft almost sweet and RAWR, for a chain smoker! I remember standing on the stage ramp and feeling his voice a second or two rocking my feet before it blasted out of the PA, when you were and AIC fan back then and lucky enough to get that close and knew a Staley belt was coming like at the start of “Junkhead” it was unreal and a little scary⛓⛓⛓

Apparently he was writing a book for five years at the time of this interview (1995 or '96), but died in 2002. He had extra time to write more. Where is this material at? Does it still exist? Also, all those extra years and he never finished solo work or did anything else in music. Why? I guess he just gave up on being a rock star all together. Sad.

Mike was a heroin addict,broke and in Seattle at Layne's apt. He was asked by Nancy whom he stayed away fr. for yrs. if he saw Layne die. That was a turning pt. for Mike and he decided to lie to her face. It was hard to watch and she didnt react but with tears . .He drove there to get free H. and driving so far a B'day would get Layne to party. Trained in detecting truth or lies I knew,not even knowing of Layne/AIC he was self-destructing and guilt was heavy. He was facing prison B4 this too.

Spot on. Mike knew Layne was dying and while Layne was nodding off, Mike decided to steal whatever he thought was valuable. Layne was in the process of making a animated cartoon for his Nephew which he almost had finished but none of that was ever found at the scene because Mike stole it. He later tried to sell that and other items he took under an assumed name. But through Nancy's friends she located all of the things that Mike stole and bought all of it. Later in an family conversation, she was asked if she got all of Layne's possessions back and she gave a big "Wink" of her eye.

sorry i made a mistake. it's 225 mg of heroin per liter blood and not 2.25. and it was 1.52 mg of morphine they found in his system. to get a morphine level of 0.5 one has to inject around 75 to 85 mg of heroin. the 96% purity level of black tar heroin refers most likely to the state it's in b4 it goes through a 1000 hands and gets all cut up. by the way i didn't get my numbers from the justice for kurt site. and 75-85 mg of heroin is the maximum established lethal OD even for severe addicts

Actually he did die on April 5th, very sadly his body just wasn't found until April 20th when his family realized that he hadn't withdrew any funds from his bank account those last 2weeks. It's devastating how this amazing person died alone and so young. He locked himself in his condo during the last few yrs of his life during his downward spiral with drugs and depression, alot of people think it was mainly due to his ex-fiance's death in 1996. Such an extremely talented man..

I think Rubio told the truth too it was just HOW it was written that was such a nightmare. Vece - I did not know about all the recants. It seems so many are hellbent on believing A, B and C and get really nasty when anyone else suggests a different side. The timing just seems odd right now in all of this. I wonder if they would ever let Starr back in the band or work together somehow? Thanks for the vids by the way.

I notice a lot of people saying how they have 'seen it'-no one mentioning 'experienced' it-it's now cool to see it as dirty and gross to be addicted. Part of the issue to why Layne gave up and said fuck it-he felt he was an outcast in this new subliminally subverted society that said 'drugs are evil and bad, look down on users'.Feel free to tell this ex-user to fuck off.

@fluxerflixer1 Having lived in the same house as a junkie, I know how that is just impossible. Junkies will only get better if they choose to. No one person can change that... It's all up to them. I believe that his friends tried everything they could, but there's no way to stop it for happening unless he had made the choice. He was a troubled mind and unfortunately for is family, friends and fans, he chose his path. I too would love to turn back time and do everything I could to stop it. R.I.P.

heroin turns immediately into morphine after it has been injected. his morphine level per liter blood was 1.52 mg 3 or 4 days after he died. This means that he most likely injected around 2.25 mg. This amounts to a 75x lethal overdose for a "normal" junkie weighing 150 pounds and a 3x lethal OD for a heaviest addicted person. In other words even a "heavyweight champion" junkie would have died on the spot. kurt weighed only 115 and had just left rehab, so his tolerance would've been down anyway.

PacoVL46 so you think he killed himself on purpose?
@pacovl46
@pacovl46 4 жыл бұрын
makaveli237 no! I think someone spiked him with Valium, then shot him up with a triple lethal overdose of heroin (a lethal overdose is a dose so large that it would even kill the most hardcore addict) and then shot him in the head with the shotgun! The reason I’m thinking this is because the heroin overdose was so massive that there’s absolutely no way he could’ve shot himself afterwards with the shotgun. After shooting up he would’ve been incapacitated so quickly he wouldn’t even have gotten the needle out of his arm. As a matter of fact, he would’ve either died on the spot or fallen immediately into a coma and then died right afterwards. Yet, the tourniquet was taken off, the needle was taken out of his arm, the sleeve was rolled down and buttoned up and all his paraphernalia were nicely stowed away in a cigar box right next to him on the ground. In other words, there was most definitely a second person in the room and he was murdered!

u r right, he was in rehab less than 24 hours, so his tolerance was definitely the same. but u r wrong about the 2.25 mg. ask any doctor or google dead men don't pull triggers and read the report. by the way i was wrong about heroin turning immediately into morphine it takes several minutes. nonetheless that much heroin shot up at once will definitely incapacitate a person immediately.

Wrong. No one knows when Layne diedThey were BOTH speedballing. Mike said "you look in bad shape,I should call 911" and Layne said "Not like this man". Layne passed out or was dying and Mike stole a buch of stuff from his condo.It went up for action by an fake name used by Mike. Layne's mom found out about this and bought it all back,exept the money and drugs Mike took. I've been over this in great detail from a source in Layne's family. Ask EXPcustom,he'll let you know just what happened.
