Man... TOUGH GIG!! Like many others have said, the dance floor is too big. If they decide to do it again this year in their gym, let the admin team know you'd like to setup at halfcourt then drape/block off everything behind. Another thing was the lights being on. Unfortunately, if you don't have the ultimate "wow" production setup, the kids won't dance with the lights on. Lastly, I haven't watched recent videos yet, but I'd highly recommend coupling your subs together in front so you can prevent power alleys/valleys. Kids love to feel the music rather than listen to it, so every DB counts when it comes to school dances. Hope you have a great 2023 year! Cheers!

Really need a strong opening for these events. Try using some MC skills/ Tricks before even opening the dance floor. Make a reason for everyone to come out there together at one time. Also Sounded like a really old playlist I never heard any of the songs this age actually listens to. At my proms I have to make clean hyped quick edits to mostly choruses of tik tok dances & those hot tracks to keep their attention. Way to keep it real tho.
@DjJayBook3 жыл бұрын
Lol! Funny you should say that cause thats the music they requested prior to the event and I used slides (which was the only thing they’d dance to) to get them going in general. I noticed a few things immediately that kept the kids off the dance floor. 1. Lights too bright. They should’ve turned down the house lights. Kids won’t dance if they feel like everybody can see them. 2. The room is too big for such a small crowd. They would’ve been better off doing this in the cafeteria. They should’ve looked at the number of tickets sold and came up with a better plan. 3. Small COVID crowd. A lot of events right now are plagued by this. 4. No mic interaction. You gotta connect with your audience. Pick that mic up and talk to the crowd. Good event though bro. They’re not all home runs. Thanks for keeping it 💯.

Very hard to set the mode and hold the vibe with the lights on. Plus god only knows what kind of grounds rules were set by the teachers and the prom committee. I just had a prom where the students were told only 4 at a table. They didn't have to wear masks as long as they are sitting. And if they stand up and walk around masks at all times. It wasn't very fun for them and and selfies were at a minimum.

The Venue was way too large for the number of people attending. If they held it in a smaller but still safe room, the kids would have probably started dancing.

Too much lights for the kids. Probably play the Tik Tok songs to get them to make videos and also have them come closer to you. Get on the mic and invite/make them come closer. I appreciate your transparency.

Too big of space, too few people, lights still on in gym...everything was completely stacked against you. Sometimes there's absolutely nothing else you can do.

I couldn’t agree more. For that size room it has to be packed !

Well that was there 2nd option due to covid restrictions. They told me only 70 kids bought tickets so I brought lights according to sales. Next year will be better

I know this is some time ago you did this video. The school is to blame for this one. too big of venue to have this dance. They should have lowered the lights. Proms are a bitch. ...

Dawg I hate dry events like this... depending on who in charge I saved 1-2 events like this by playing all the local hood music. I couldn’t play it because it wasn’t any clean versions but after multiple requests the person in charge told me just play what ever they been asking for all night... once they told me clean & dirty didn’t matter no more that last hour & 1/2 was off the walls
