When I was a kid in the Pacific NW we used swim in beaver ponds. With cute little beavers and babies in huge natural areas. This was in the mid 60s. The same and houses were really cool for a bunch of kids. They weren't damming water ways. Some of these dams were huge. A few were 75 years or older. With a lot of beaver houses. Sadly there all gone. My favorite one is all golf course now.

I noticed you used the rake later on in the video. As a suggestion the rake can be a very valuable tool from the start of the process of removing the dam...glad to see you made it a family affair

Also, in the beginning, the rake is great to start off from the top scooping off the branches… I love the shovel also.. it gets down into the muddy water.

That's one way to get rid of stagnant water! In the Rockies (mountains in western USA), beaver ponds in high elevations make for great trout fishing. Of course, they aren't by farms or 'civilized' areas and are, hopefully, still providing good habitats for migrating birds, deer, and other wildlife. Good, thorough job here---and I love it that your son took a hand in the video, lol

Not sure where this was filmed, but in Canada it's illegal to remove a beaver dam unless it's compromising a roadway, culvert or bridge.... Always start from the top and work your way down, alot easier.
@giedriustuma Жыл бұрын
This was filmed in Lithuania. And it’s legal to remove the beaver dams because of the reasons you mentioned, also any dam which is built on reclamation channel, as in this case.
