You can cut a tarp to fit the front of the truck, tuck it under the hood to lock it in, but covering the grill so that when the bow wave crests the hood no water is reaching the engine compartment. Did this fording rivers in the Yukon territory. It's a quick fix, cheap, if you don't have a snorkel.

That shot with the lights on, with the drone flying overhead 38:47 was absolutely the best shot I've seen in the series of what i've watched so far (New viewer here). Really brought a sense of what you were talking about, feeling small in a vast forest. Beautiful.

I'd like to thank you for a couple things. The emphasis you put on fuel was very important. Any pressure you can put on Toyota to up their MPG game is hugely appreciated. I'd also like to thank you for delving deeper into the topic of water crossings. This program is very educational and inspirational. It's something I can sit down to watch with my girlfriend. She really enjoys it and it helps her to see how awesome a trip like this would be. We'd be happy to join you.

I honestly don't understand the love affair with unleaded shared by you and the majority of your Countryman, when Diesel gets you SO MUCH FURTHER per litre. but dam this has been a great video series. honestly you guys produce the best Overland free video series on the Net. thanks a ton for the good viewing. from down Under with envy.
@94Greenbean8 жыл бұрын
sprocketdiver Only way your going to have a diesel in a Toyota in the US is to import it yourself or an engine swap. With Toyotas support of the program I'm hoping down the road if/when they travel to another continent they will be in 70 Series rigs with the Turbo Diesel!
@HoneyBadgerFarm8 жыл бұрын
If the EXPO world would stop their love affair with Toyotas they would get to experience diesel...the gas MPG on these Toyotas is actually horrendous... Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel Chevy Colorado Diesel Both alternates to the 4Runner and the Tacoma
@sprocketdiver8 жыл бұрын
but the vehicles you mention are far less quality over the Toyotas, I understand Toyota selection. Just not why America puts fuel hungry petrols in them, here in Australia the 200 series land cruzer comes with a twin turbo v8 Diesel, tuned. it makes over a thousand nm of torque and 500kw, at the tyres, yet you can drive 2000km on less than 150L of fuel on the Rd and more than 1500 off
@sprocketdiver8 жыл бұрын
gwot wow that sucks. how the hell can a modern car be illegal
@94Greenbean8 жыл бұрын
The dealers that want to sell in the US have two really rather tough agencies to deal with, First is the EPA, Environmental Protection Agency and the second would be the DOT itself. Department of Transportation. But yes we know the Tacoma already has the Federal approved impact bumpers in the front and honestly most of us overlanders prefer to remove some if not all of the original front bumper anyways but to have a diesel offering in a Tacoma would be amazing! FWIW, don't even get started on the CARB, and the emissions laws tied to just California vehicles.

What's the reason you guy's didn't run snorkels this time? Did you not expect so many water crossings or just knew if you needed a snorkel you wouldn't risk the crossing anyways? Regardless, out of everyone of your guy's videos, this is my favorite so far. I like how you guys didn't take no for an answer and pushed through the deep water anyways. The video quality is ridiculously good and the drone shots at the end made my jaw drop. Also the lighting on the rigs are crazy good!

When you doing this overlanding i am wondering myself a few things: - Have you considered mud-chains? And what is the reasoning behind not using them? - Have you considered inflatable jacks? - Have you considered using waders and a net for over your hat like beekeepers use? Curious because you seem prepared for a lot of things, but in practice seem not to be too well prepared for all parts of your trip. It's been top quality video production. Hats off to the video editor and great way to let viewers almost like feel part of the action. Have enjoyed it a lot! Thanks.
