In overland, fuel is counted by hours at hard pace, not miles. Miles are for maintained roads (logging roads, forest roads, etc). Look at fuel consumption under hard conditions and how many expected hours it will take you to finish. So plan your fuel at G (for gallons) multiplied by time (H) so if you're planning on 10 days you plan for 10 full days (however many hours you run) multiplied by fuel usage

Great series. The sponsors have provided excellent and very useful technologies. I have grown very fond of the series. One question: In one of the episodes, it was mentioned that the rest of Greenland Expedition will be presnted in the last episode of probably Season 1. I am sort of missing that. Can't find. Can anyone guide me towards that? The episode in which the team visits Greenland? Thank you very much.

I love your videos and have always found them to be very entertaining. Everytime I see a really dramatic bit of editing or a stressful situation overly depicted I can't help but think about the fact that a well equipped mountain biker or a man on horseback could easily do this trail in 1-2 days with very little drama. A little less drama would seem more realistic, kind of like your older videos. It's the wrong tool for the job but that's part of the fun and that's why we watch your videos.

Curious as to why no snorkels. Fantastic videos.
@homar7878 жыл бұрын
Tom Maas im guessing the vehicles where provided by Toyota so they might need to return them once they are done and maybe the rules said not to cut into them. Thats my theory
8 жыл бұрын
Interesting theory, quite plausible. My (complementary) theory is that the destination environment is not excessively dusty, so no snorkel needed. And a snorkel by itself would not help with deep water crossings, given that there are other components sitting lower than the air intake.
@SimonElenor8 жыл бұрын
Simply untrue snorkels help tremendously with water. also there is no expedition guy worth his salt that doesn't raise everything else! It must be that they are loaned trucks!
@kuneefay8 жыл бұрын
I think no snorkels just for the fact of trail clearance.
@stevetalacki8 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom, Thanks for surmising but that is incorrect. The reason is at the time we built the rigs there were no snorkels available. We decided to push thru with the trucks as is... you'll see if we came out fine or not :-)

What a great adventure/challenge guys! Halfway through the video, I realized how deep into the country you guys were and I though about 3 things: water, fuel and defense. I sincerely hope you all had some serious fire power to deter those bears/wolves just in case.. At 19:25, that guy looked quite exposed to a bear attack in the middle of that river.. Just saying
@twhaz20017 жыл бұрын
When you are that far out or at home. You should be wearing protective chaps and boots when cutting with Axe/machete or chain saw (like you are doing 15:00in this video). Don't forget eye protection. Your to remote and like you found out. Murphy is always close by.

Great show guys! Good to see you guys get back to your roots, and take the product advertising down a notch. The last series I was a bit annoyed at the amount of product plugs, which killed the documentary feel, turning it more into a commercial.

My Grandfather made a single wheel trailer for hunting. If the trail had to make sharp a turn or angle of approach or departure. He had two small cable hoist attached to the Roof rack that allowed him to lift the rear trailer up. basically making it an extension instead of a trailer for tight spots. You trailers are probably to heavy for that. Just a thought from the past. No pictures of it. i was 6 when he passed. I'm 60 now
