He was SO young when he died that memorabilia is so scarce. It's like Richie Valens. He was 17 at the time of the crash, and there's only about a combined twenty minutes of recorded audio of his actual speaking voice, and even less visuals. There's much more of the Big Bopper, mainly because he was a radio DJ before he became famous for his music. Imagine what music these geniuses would've given the world has they lived.

Just amazing being in a place that so many great singers performed in.

Thanks so much for posting. I worked for 6 months in Lubbock from 1984 to 1985. That has been the only time I was in Lubbock. I sure wished back then that I knew Buddy Holly was from there. I would have looked at some of that history there concerning him. I enjoyed seeing all of the locations in this video. I'm a radio station history buff specially AM radio, I really enjoyed seeing the radio station. The hotel I stayed in was on Slide RD., not to far from that radio station. Again Thanks for posting

Thank you for taking us along with you. I'd probably never get to see some of these historic places without you sharing this video. Truly fantastic for any Buddy Holley fan.

Wow absolutely awesome video I have been a Buddy Holly fan fan for 50 years and I wasn't even born when he died. In my opinion he is the TRUE KING of Rock 'n' Roll. As long as I can still DJ I will always play his music. Unfortunately I have never been to Lubbock, but before I leave this earth It is always going to be a priority. Buddy Holly I thank you for your music.

I had the same question. Has the host looked at his family tree to find any relation to Joe B. of the Crickets? I enjoyed the the program, but there were a few oversights. The famous KDAV photo of Buddy Bob and Larry circa 1955 was shown briefly, but without comment. Does that room corner with the evident air vent in the upper left corner still exist? Also, does the other major radio station where Buddy actually recorded a tune with Waylon J. still exist? Waylon actually worked as a D.J. at KLLL, and took time off from his duties to join Buddy, Tommy Allsup and Carl Bunch on the ill fated winter dance party tour. What about the high school where Buddy and Jerry Allison both met Peggy Sue Garron? All the sites seen, and more, will become even more popular now that the fabulous Buddy Holly Center For The Performing Arts is open, and is sure to draw tens of thousands of visitors to Lubbock annually. I liked the ads for the community events as well!

Excellent stuff! I wonder if the presenter is related to Joe B.Mauldin? Of course the next site of interest must be the Petty studio in Clovis - but that is in New Mexico.....

I find it ironic that the Decca scout said in his telegram "Don't change his style at all"... had Decca listened to that advice, Buddy might have become a star at least a year earlier than he did!

And as March 2024, this radio station has gone silent... off the air. Seems the never-ending bad news, just never stops.

Im assuming the host wouldve mentioned being a relative of Joe B Mauldin.

So, is Bob Mauldin related to the Cricket's base player, Joe B Mauldin, or what?

There is no known relation.

Could be a lot better show without all the commercials.

Commercial free versions of all these older episodes will be coming very soon! All of the recent episodes are uploaded without commercials from TV. KZbin will put in some of their ads, but it won’t be near as many. Thanks for watching!
