What an adventure you guys are having with Jades mum. She is certainly lucky to have such an adventurous daughter and son-in-law. You guys are lucky to have her supporting you and organising the backend of things. A true A team all round. Happy sailing guys.

A sailing instructor I had back in the early 90's (who'd sailed his Pacific Seacraft 40 around the world) told us, "Foul weather gear isn't a fashion statement! It should be bright orange, red or yellow - nothing else".

When wanting some air flow in the forward cabin with the dingy on the deck, hook the spare halyard to the bow and lift the front of the dingy up. You can then open the hatches. The dingy will work as a wind scoop. Stay cool.

I watched 2 of your earlier videos and instantly subscribed. I'm hooked, I'm impatient for the next video. I live in the southernmost Caribbean island of Trinidad, below the hurricane belt, so boating is big here. I live in for the sea, but sadly can't afford a boat. However, every weekend leads me to the water and the coast. I work in the maritime industry so I've been out sailing, but how I wish it was my entire life. I'm living vicariously via your vlog.

I'm just getting to your previous episodes because I've been following the current. I like your interactions and enthusiasm. This episode is in the areas we traveled 4 decades ago. Much has changed, much hasn't. One of the drone shots shows a cut that I thought might be on the N end of the NW Anchorage of Big Majors. We would anchor there with very few other boats, and NO pigs. My husband would drop me in the water on the N end of the small cut and I would drift thru. Drift might not be the correct word when the current was running. It was exhilarating. A few times a med. size shark was at the outbound end. Make your memories now. An older generation were the only ones encouraging us back then and now I'm learning why. (Ageing hinders abilities, but not enthusiasm!) Go for it! Do it now!

Loved the video and hearing Brett's comments at the end! After seeing all of your hard work, it's truly a pleasure to see the both of you living an authentic joyful and richer life. You make the transition into your sailing life look easy but for the sake of education, I'd appreciate more insight of the things that stress and exhaust you besides the obvious safety issue watching for fair skies and reefs. Hopefully they are issues that will get easier with time and experience. Love supporting you and I'm looking forward to seeing the story of your sailing life unfold. Namaste 🙏

My wife and I were just talking about how we have noticed that as we age, time seems to accelerate. We're hoping that in getting out there full time by bus and by boat, time will slow down a bit. Your commentary about duality and the moments is interesting to me. Experiencing contrast and cutting edge vibrant new experiences is, in my opinion, really living life. And you need the duality for the contrast. Some commentary on how sailing has changed your outlook, spiritual understanding attitude, mental processes, etc would be an interesting episode.

Mom, you can always come to Juneau, AK and I'll show you around this awesome place while evading the bears. I know what its like to have an adventurous daughter as my only child moved here in her early 20's for college but ended up as a salmon fisherman for several years. She also worked at a salmon hatchery on a remote island avoiding bears daily. I'm originally from EP, RI. Best wishes to all.

Love the vids, we will see you out there soon! As far as fishing on a sailboat (in blue water) goes, grab a daisy chain connected to a hand line straight down the middle 20yards back. Then off port run a short line (30 yards) with a skirted hook that matches the color of the daisy chain. Then run a far line (40-60yds) off the starboard with either a popper skirt, or a cedar plug with your favorite color. You’ll catch all the mahi and tuna you can eat.

Y'all need to pick up a casting net and learn to use it to catch live bait and pick up a second pole if you don't have one. You could be catching and stocking up fish in the freezer while you're anchored. Part of living off the grid is learning to forage for your own food. The bounty of the sea surrounds you and I'm not seeing you use that resource. It will save you thousands in the long run and it's healthy, fun, & delicious. Multiple fish species, spiny lobsters, conch, shell fish, and crabs are all plentiful in the Bahamas and just about everywhere you're likely to end up. Think of all the tasty things you could have been eating on the beach other than hot dogs LOL

Hi team Evans, you guys need some wind socks for your hatches. They do an amazing job at catching air and funnelling it through your boat at night. Oh and grab yourselves a pair of polaroid sunglasses for wearing when you try to spot bomboras and reefs in the water. They cut the glare down dramatically.

Tip for having the dinghy in the front: Use one of the halyards and fix it on the tow fitting to lift the front of the dinghy approx. 1,5 meters. This allows you to open the hatches easily and goes quick.
