I've dealt with similar circumstances teaching math to at risk students. That math teacher got more aggressive, emotional, etc. than i ever would in a classroom. But his classroom was a different from mine. Regardless of that difference, I would absolutely get in a student's face if I met their parent and had occasion to talk to the student 1 on 1. Never wanted to hurt a student. But I've definitely acted like I wanted to or looked like it to make an impression. Just gotta bring love with it. Sure the teacher brings the same thing. And there's no question he's there to help. He could find a teaching job elsewhere. We need them everywhere in this country.

This was filmed in 2014, and some of the behaviors deemed 'extreme' in this footage are now commonplace in many more public schools across the country. Ever since the 2020 lockdowns it's gotten way worse. Teaching in 2016 is WAY different from my experience teaching from 2020-currently. Apathy went up (if that was even possible), students getting into violent conflicts w/ classmates went up, students assaulting teachers went WAY up, and students just doing whatever they want w/ limited options for consequences is the new reality (if your school admin refuses to suspend students or put them in ISS, of course).

I was once in these kids' shoes. When I was in middle school and eventually high school I had violent outbursts a lot and I was fatigued and they didn't take it seriously. It took 4 years until I had a brain tumor discovered after a seizure and removed and even after that was a hell of a recovery. Before it got removed they blamed my seizures for behavior. Even so I'm still glad everything happened the way it did otherwise I would've been in jail or dead. I'm 21 now and way back when I never thought I'd be around to graduate high school but now I'm in college.

The problem with all of these situations is the parents, like at 11:00-11:45 the mom starts saying "Well maybe my daughter stabbed the boy because she is being provoked and nothing is being done about it". The problem is not your daughter being provoked but the fact that she responds with extreme violence when it happens. Stabbing someone is obviously not an appropriate response, and the mother's defense of her actions is telling the child that the response is justified. Disgusting.

It's just the mentality of diverting responsibility, ignoring the consequences of your own actions at the expense of others who may have acted wrong. The fact that the mother justified the daughter's actions is only cementing the idea that she acted appropriately. I'm sure on the car ride home, the mother was saying "Well it really isn't right that those kids are bullying you and the teachers aren't doing anything about it and blah blah blah". And the girl's children will likely be subject to the same fate, we can only hope that situations get better with the spread of communication and the new world we live in, but many-a-time the cycle repeats. I applaud those who break away from their situation and surround themselves with better people.

They have behaviour problems because the they all don't have both of their parents as it's most likely their dad either ran away or is locked up in jail and the cycle continues.

*UPDATE* Thanks to some research, I found out that this school eventually got shut down, Cortez was thrown in jail for a felony, Crystal went missing, Melvin James Jr is dead, Coach Williams, though eventually able to collect the money the school owed him, is now almost broke due to spending them for medical expenses for his own son, Spanky apparently works for Burger King now, and Keontay has become a drug dealer not long after leaving the hospital for treatment for more than a dozen bullet wounds

In case anyone would like to know: After the show ended cortez fell into a life of violence, drug dealing and street life, forcing him and his family to flee the city. Coach william had gotten laid off and burned through the majority of his savings, but he says he continues to see some of the kids on the west side. Crystal and her son(Rudy Andrew Sanchez II) sadly died on Friday September 28, 2018. Spanky (montreal almond) got arrested just this year. And lastly, keontay was shot and killed. This is all the information I found for the people that wanted an update.

THEY ARE RAISED BY YOUNG SINGLE MOTHERS,THATS WHY THEY ARE SO EMOTIONAL
@vedast93964 жыл бұрын
There is no way we can predict how these kids would be with or without a camera, we obviously can’t just look into their minds or environment or judge based on their past since we know none of it. I made a pretty dumb assumption, but it is common for a lot of ppl to assume this first since it is a correlation for kids/teens raised in environments like these to become like that (not a degrading statement), it’s common but not always, we just don’t know enough. I definitely agree that they are playing for the camera for some of em at least, but that’s due to impulses, if they follow their impulses then worse things may occur/seen them that, they probably also hav likely had a family member who just “followed their impulses”( “unstable”) too and ended up in a bad place, causing a child to follow that, they might need to face a lot of consequences in the future if they continue this, it’s not their fault at all, but they need to realize that doing so isn’t going to help in the long term (of c I don’t know whether it’s tru or not so that’s also kinda an assumption).

As much as these kids can be wild and outrageous with their behaviour, I feel more sorry for the things that they witnessed and went through at such a young age. Kids brains are like sponges and they absorb to how they react around their surroundings, I'm happy to see that people try to help these kids and I hope they are better right now in life.
