I liked it for what it is! Sure it may have dodgy green screens and a lack of the original cast, but I still had fun with it. The fight with Statham and Uwais put me at the edge of my seat! It was fun seeing Sly, Couture, and Lundgren again. It lacks no entertainment and I will say, I didn’t expect the ending twist! 💥

@@szabolcstusai1917Mel Gibson stole the show in 3rd film as the main villain in otherwise weak film in the series which I agree first 2 films are the best. 2nd film as a fan of 80s and 90s action films it was to see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis with larger roles and seeing Chuck Norris in a small part but to have Jean Claude Van Damme as the antagonist was fun along with Scot Adkins. Probably won’t even watch the 4th film.

I really had a good time with this one, left the theater joyous. Admittedly a Taco Bell movie for sure, but I can’t help but love the whole concept of the Expendables as a huge action movie fan. For the stuff I didn’t care for in the movie, there was always something I really enjoyed throughout. The guiltiest of guilty pleasures, loved it. Statham was the MVP in this outing.

Villains in part 5 can be Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Sigourny Weaver or Mila Jovovich. I think they should add new Expendables like Michelle Yeoh, Uma Thurman, Michael Jai White, John Cena, Joe Taslim, Halle Barry, Michael Keaton, and Russel Peters the comedian. I think they chose Megan fox for sex appeal b/c the B list acting was corny from her.

For my review of EXPEND4BLES and SPOILERS I have to say it’s much better than The Expendables 3 in turns of plot and R Rating wise because they made Expendables 3 PG-13 for some reason, I don’t know why they casted Megan Fox in it that felt so weird as a casting choice, the Barney Ross twist was so weird I actually thought this was the end of Stallone’s character but it wasn’t, Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa was actually good for stunts and action sequences, the ending explosion was definitely my favorite part of this movie and that’s good, while Brian Tyler doesn’t return to score the film I feel like the new composer tried to hard to create what Brian Tyler did and it didn’t hold up. Overall I give this movie a 6/10 not to bad and not to good just a middle type of movie just to like shut your brain off and enjoy some violence

It's $100 million dollar movie but I wonder how much of the budget went to the cast... The problem with having all these big names is you have to pay everybody so they end up putting some lesser known people in and then some of the big names only do cameos because you just can't pay everybody. I heard that's why you don't see team ups of Van Damme and Steven seagal because they just can't afford to pay both of them to be in a movie together. And since I have the same audience, having both of them in the movie doesn't bring any more viewers. that's probably why 50 cents in the movie because he has his audience with the music and then they probably put Megan Fox in there because she has her fans. Or to reach the female audience.

I'm a huge Sly fan and I am a fan of the franchise, however I had reservations about this movie from the beginning, from the time that they announced this as a Christmas spinoff, and then I had a feeling right away when they were making it into a part 4 that Sly was going to have a limited role. I'll see it when it's streaming.

Well they failed from the get go. It was suppose to be all the old action stars. But Schwarzenegger and Willis showed up for one non action scene, and his team was Terry Crews and Randy Couture. It should have been actual action stars from the 80's. Michael Dudikoff, Cynthis Rothrock and Jeff Speakman. There was plenty of minor action stars to choose from. So the idea was fine but it was a pipe dream from the get go.

I’d say the standards are MUCH higher in Indiana Jones. The director is far more competent and the movie costs a lot more. I’d say this is an apples to oranges comparison. The problem in Indy (production wise) was more the poor de ageing and muddy and Grey scenes. The film was mostly shot on location. Expendables is bare minimum. Low effort and just really cheap trash.

The first Expendables is, possibly, my favorite action movie of the past 20 years. It is everything I could have wanted. I have watched it so many times that I can recite almost every scene. As a matter of fact, I just finished editing a reaction to it a few days ago and it was one of my favorite editing experiences in a while. The movie is magical to me. The sequels, in my view, got less fun with each installment. But this. This was painful. Like you said, it's like every cheap straight to video film, just with an Expendables title. I was worried when they announced it, because my only previous experience with a movie that replaced an "a" with a "4" was Fant4stric... Very similar end result, actually...

ExpendBles 1-3 should have stuck to the OLD GUYS finding a way to overcome their incredible situations. And Expendables 4 and 5 should have been a PART 1 and 2 finale that was about the “bad guy” survivors of Expendables 1-3 creating their OWN super team of OLD BAD GUYS to go against the Expendables, with Part 1 having Stallone and others DYING to set up Part 2’s come back.

To kill off any of them would be going directly against what these movies stand for. Killing off main characters left and right is most definitely a modern cinema thing to do. The only way to finish an arc nowadays is death apparently. these are supposed to be action movies that harken back to the great action tough guy movies of the 80s and 90s, where that bullshit didn’t happen. They kick ass, save the day and we leave pumped up and a smile on our face because the good guys won.

Have we learned anything from people like Kevin Feige. You need to know WHERE these franchises are going from the 1st on ON. If you don’t, you will just be creating movies JUST BECAUSE. And people hate those films.

But much like Mission Impossible 6 and Fast X and the 40 whatever film in the MCU … people are not getting “superhero fatigue,” they are getting “too much below average fatigue.” If you could spend 2 hours watching Expendables 4 or playing Arkham/Spider-Man/injustice … would you watch a 4th movie in a franchise with little interest from both critics AND regular people? People have SO MUCH content as it is. It seems that these studios better stop just pumping movies out JUST BECAUSE … they better gives us classic films or franchises with an EXPIRATION quota, like the 3 dark knight films.

Which really goes to show, to each their own! haha I hear ya though, and can agree with you on the age of mediocre cinema that we are currently in. So it is frustrating being such a big movie fan my whole life but finding it harder and harder to enjoy modern stuff. On the off chance any film producers are reading a KZbin comment, hear me out. This is how you fix the series in Expendables 5: Expendables 3 made a good, solid ending for Schwarzenegger and Jet Li. We don't need them. They're out. What Expendables 3 also did was prove the case for Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes. Bring them in! Expendables 4's first big mistake (there were a lot of big mistakes) was cutting Banderas and Snipes. Poor move. Here's what you do: Stallone's team is sent on a mission. Stallone's team comprises of Statham, Megan Fox, Banderas (he's back, baby!), 50 Cent, Lundgren, Couture, Levy Tran and Jacob Scipio. If there was one thing - and only one thing - Expendables 4 got right it was hiring Scipio to play Banderas's son because he totally nails it. What we need is Banderas and Scipio together!!! Let's give them scenes together. They would play so well off each other. Make some silly excuse for why Banderas wasn't in the last movie like he was on a meditation retreat or something like that. Anyway, they’re on this mission and - surprise - he's not the only team sent in! Little does Stallone know, it's a team-up mission between the Expendables and... wait for it... Wesley Snipe's team. Yeah - it turns out between movie 3 and 4, Snipes and Stallone had a falling out. It was a big deal. Snipes left the team and he took with him Glen Powell, Kellan Lutz, Rhonda Rousey, and Victor Ortiz. That’s right - he took all the young bucks from Expendables 3. They’re back! It was weird that they just totally disappeared between 3 and 4 without explanation, plus Powell has much more star power now than he did 10 years ago and people really like him. Anyway, the Expendables are fractured between these two teams and Stallone isn’t happy about it because he sees these five as turning their backs on him and “splitting up the family.” They do the mission, but it goes awry because the two teams can’t work together. The villain, who is either Nicholas Cage, Sigourney Weaver, or Jean Claude Van Damme playing the twin brother of his Expendables 2 character, or an alliance of all three of these actors, gets away with stage 1 of the evil plan. Back in New Orleans, the team reconvenes and gets their act together and they have to overcome whatever problem split up the team years ago. During this time, there are two subplots where 1. Charisma Carpenter’s character is back and she confronts Statham about the fact that they never got married. This will serve as a way to tie up that overtly unresolved thread from Expendables 2, while humanizing Statham in a very real way (not the stupid, silly way from Expendables 4 where he was a bodyguard for some reason). And 2. Lundgren goes to therapy to discuss a very real portrayed alcohol addiction. Again, we can have a chance to humanize someone who has been portrayed as a dumb brute for the last couple of movies and I think there is a lot of potential there. You could even get someone with star power to play the therapist. During this downtime, it might also be nice to have Stallone meet with Mickey Rourke’s character again to get perspective on his team splitting up and all that. It was kind of weird that we never got Rourke’s character again after the first movie and I don’t think it would be a heavy pull to have him give Stallone advice for a scene. Anyway, after those subplots, the mission is on and they have one final shot to stop the villain this time. The two sides come together to resolve their friction and they go and save the day in a big, Expendables style shootout. Boom! Franchise saved.

Why I have loved Expendables: I am old enough that I saw serials, cartoons, newsreels, etc going to the movies. My reasons for loving these movies was the nostalgia of seeing the old action heroes again, even as villains or A.....les. This movie cheated me. Even adding the younger team from before, there wss still a connection. NO CONNECTION HERE.

i expected a mid-tier movie with a thin plot but a nostalgic vibe and set of actors i was still disappointed... almost bored throughout the entire movie. the action was fine, but seemed rushed and overall uninspired. like everyone was just there to collect a paycheck and go home ya hate to see it

Personally IMO I actually Liked it, I Love Expendables 4, Great Action, Well Written, I thought Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, & Andy Garcia did a Great Job, I do have a couple flaws like they didn’t need 50 Cent & Megan Fox In The Movie Cause there Terrible Actors IMO, & I wish they brought back Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Jet Li, & Mickey Rourke Cause they were really good, but still Enjoyed The Movie, I don’t it deserved the hate, too Bad it’s bombing badly too Cause I thought it was a step up from Expendables 3 IMO

Man, I just truly have to say that I have been a fan of the Expendable since the first one and I have enjoyed the second one the third one and I’m telling you that I absolutely enjoy the heck out of the new expendables four to me. It was good it was I mean I had a lot of fun with it I’m telling you I had as much fun with it as any of them I mean just when I went to the theater the fun that I had was great I just loved it and I wish the negative vibe about the movie would kind of just like people need to do you know when did reviews become you know talking people and not spending their money to go enjoy the movie I mean goodness gracious people need to see the movies and then talk about it and then it back and say yeah we thought it was good. We thought it was bad but you know I don’t believe in this I’ve seen this movie and it’s not good so don’t waste your money. Wait till it comes out on video that’s just not a good idea at all it should not be done.

I went to see Ex4 when it was released in the UK a few weeks ago. Very bad . I think it may have been saved a little bit if Barney (Sly) had of been actually in the film, instead of being killed off to turn up for the last 5 mins. They newbie casting was questionable . Why they had 50 cents I do not know , he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. Meg Fox sexy but under used , most of the cast under used. The CGI is the worst your ever see . Bad camera angles , to close fighting scenes because they are cutting corners . My heads ready to explode thinking about it . Films need real action in real locations . I give this 3 /10 . A better thought out story. This Explend4bles could have re-established the franchise and made a killing at the box office . I wonder how much money Explend4bles has made?

What the fuck are you talking? about part two was awesome with bandanas the villain! The idea with these movies was to make old style action movies with iconic action stars coming together to make the ultimate action movie for the fans. And I'm happy they did but I'm not one of those people that just wants to hate on everything.

I like the movie. I hated the third movie. I thought this movie was better than the previous movie. It has its problems. Iko plays a great villain. Jason Staham and Iko are great 8n the movie. Megan was OK in the movie.

I don’t know why people are shocked that most new movies suck. Hollywood doesn’t have any creativity anymore and they have traded stunt work and storytelling for CGI and comedy and movies are suffering because of it

Very forgettable...unfortunately 30 mins in after enjoying my Wendys Dave Single Combo and the bag of all dressed chips i snuck in; i gave the movie about 15 more of my undivided attention before my phone became my main focal point for the remainder of the hour + i had left of the movie. Not even bada$$ gun to make the movie fun at any point. Some of the most generic weapons, enemies, plot and scenario. I think their marketing team should get back together and relaunch this movie without the swear words, gore and blood. Change the rating for the younger audience and they might actually have a hit

Man I hate to say it, but several of the things that you have issues with this in this movie, I just personally did not have issues at all with I thought it was great for example the the man’s acting when his wife in the sun were about to Finna get shot and all that I had no problem with that. I thought he did perfect I mean you know I thought he did much better than what it seems you thought but anyway, we’re just have our own opinions ha ha
