Don’t get me started on Grand Seiko. They train some employee san 5 years to polish metal, but can’t get a decent band, let alone a micro adjust ‘anything’. But oh that Spring Drive.

I agree. The higher the price, the lower the margin for acceptable error. Entry level watches???? Those are superb classics so I would immediately view that guy as not knowledgeable. Have a great weekend Bro!

100%. If an untrained monkey like myself can put together a watch without issues then so can a multi-million dollar company. Standards only lower when we allow them to and heritage isn't a good enough reason. That would be like serving bad-tasting food because of the history of a restaurant.

@johanvandersandt8904 good point. I'm sure there's a human element somewhere there, but like i said in the video, it takes half an ounce of "give a fuck", maybe not even that much.

@@degenerateWA Tell you what I think and that that those large brands simply dont care anymore. A good salesman can find a market for any product... Whether they sell it to us enthusiasts or another random guy who wont look for the details. There is very little at stake for them to get invested as they have the capital and brand reputation to ride out a bad batch of product. Its the little guy... Those microbrands where things are at I think. The guy that looks at every watch. Sends a follow up email to find out if you are happy. Is always happy to listen and implement what his clients are telling him.

I also had the SMP 300 clasp buttons fail after 2 months. Thankfully the staff at the boutique were super humble and helpful and fixed it in less than 40 minutes. Still, they should do better QA for that money.

absolutely. we've been conditioned to believe that a few thousand dollars for a watch still leaves room for error. Brands are taking for granted that leniency.

Rolex actually makes it super painful to play with straps on purpose because they don’t believe you should mod to your taste. Older holes case models were much easier. Now they tell you what you are going to wear. It was designed that way purposefully because there is no brand that loves to abuse the enthusiast community more than Rolex.

Even Ferrari and the like has issues, yet, it doesn’t matter. You buy what you want because you can. If you have money then be happy you can afford a Tudor or Rolex. Life’s too short to worry about perfection.

@theoriginaljohngalt2450 there's perfection, and then there's easily-achievable standards. I won't tell you what the definition of those things are. I'm happy with the quality of my Tudors and that's all that matters.
