I love how wheneve a Native begins to tell about a tradition they start with..."what my grandfather/uncle/grandmother told me..." implies the stories being passed from generation to generation according to an elder.

As a young boy in Holland, , I only learnd in school, that a well respected guy named Columbus discovered America in 1492, and that that was the "moment¨ that over there the history started. Now that I am 54 years old, I can only hope that through internet our younger generation hears and learns about the beautifull culture that lived over there in perfect harmony with mother nature, long, long before the western "civilisation " sailed over there and almost completely erased all those tribes from the map. I can only say: all the love from my generation

Beautiful pagentry of Native life. Everyone is free to express the Creators light and how they carry that light into the world. It is a wonderful affirmation and reality of walking the Beauty Way, and each person is. There exists no equilvant to it that I am aware. It is a celebration where there are no spectators, there are the people. It is about the people and the love of the people to endure, to thrive, to remember the ancestors, their wisdom and teachings so the people will continue to thrive and grow their culture and heritage and make their own contribution to keep their nation strong and great for the generations born and for the many not yet born.

It is one of the most beautiful sacred moments of greeting, celebration of tribal families & friends. We are all one( togetherness ). The reason I enjoy attending PowWows is to regain peace, rest, and calming of my spirit because it's here that I can rest and be close to my tribes. I feel better after the day ends. It is tranquil. I respect Indigenous Native Americans simply because I am one. And that gives me pride, happiness, joy & reason to celebrate with my people.

My daughter learned about pow wows at school the other day and asked me loads of questions when she came home. She's very insistent on going to a pow wow so I figured I'd check it out. Seems like the season is almost over now but next year we will go! This doc is so cool seeing our local natives representing their tribes!

I'm so grateful for the education afforded me of the Great Native Peoples of America. I do feel we share rituals of the same nature. The European and Asian people pay homage to their deity much like the spiritual achievement of the Pow Wow. The 82 nd Airborne Division requires its members to "break-starch" when entering the post after a training mission. Thank you for this session.

As White people, we must renounce the deplorable actions perpetrated by our racist peers. As a liberal Democrat, I embrace diversity. I believe that peace-loving Native Americans, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, and those who identify as LBGT are what makes America great. I also believe that bitter White folks with hate in their hearts are a minority-a vocal and violent minority-that the rest of us must speak out against.

It is not white people, but the series of systems and subsystems that exist which separate us. I am of mix blood and have been around the world a few times to find that good and bad are equal opportunity and exists within everyone no matter the race, creed, or ethnicity. We can't do anything as a whole because we are governed by modern systems, but as individuals, we can give time and resources to help out and we can support indigenous sovereignty so that they may retain their culture for future generations and in the hopes that they can prosper.

@@odinoky5814 EVERY person ever born in North, Central, or South America in any point in history is a "native American". This PC invented term simply serves to do the opposite of what it claims: it steals the individuality and identity of American Indians, to instead lump us in with all other people born in this hemisphere. Columbus was wrong, sure...but it worked for 500 years and we were fine with it, now why the sudden change? To eliminate us by taking away the last thing we had--our name.

No. We’re Akwasasne Mohawks who straddle the US Canadian border and it’s still a struggle. Historically the arguments are between the Traditionalists and the Progressives. There was a huge battle over casino gambling but we do have dispensaries so that helps. (Pot is legal in this place-and if your money is American or Canadian we don’t care who hands it over or what they call themselves.)

Oh my God there's twin cities, no wonder, we have twin pines casino over in lake county which is Pomo and other things too but here's the issue I forgot about the Buffalo there's an issue with Buffalo and it has to do with the buffet situation and might be a link there between Judaism and also with the Native Americans. Ethically, it's about being disgraced after Cain and Abel and when I say disgrace yes there is an eating situation and that I had kind of forgot abput, unfortunately yes there is a reason why we say grace before we eat that's part of the reason. Grace, I used to think it was because of a race and I personally would prefer to think of it as a race to get the chore done so that it doesn't take as long to recover. It's that bite by bite situation that really drags. Not everyone thinks that way as for me the ceremony and stuff I'm all for it. I just really hope that we don't do and eat so much buffalo now because I know for a fact that that's linked with my mom. We have a totanka trafinbcpany in town on Lakeshore. And its linked with me partly because of Mike Tyson and I'm not saying I boxed. But I do fight. And if I feel like I need to fight in a situation I'll fight. I don't fight with food and I don't fight with other things that are stupid like dance fighting. That's not my cup of tea in fact I really dislike it and I get upset when I see cheerleaders doing it. And I suspect they probably say well why don't you lose the reservation at your restaurant that might help just like you know maybe we shouldn't be, I don't know putting American spirits that has a Native American person on there like on the cigarettes I mean that that just makes it so that it's okay go ahead take my mom's gums take my mom's teeth it's okay she doesn't mind she's not using them
