growing up as a child in Japan my grandparents and parents would often tell me to go inwards to look for answer and that we have all the answer in our deep consciousness if we live our life in mindfulness and being truthful to oneself we will have most of the answer. when I went to Australia as a teenager and then living and working in the west I have a hard time adjusting to the western mentality about freedom, about voicing up and proving ones right, there is no absolute right or wrong but k can say today modern world people are living in constant fear and insecurity and hardly have time to go "inwards" or to live mindfully and peacefully. we are constantly so eager to seek approval and recognition from others and leave no time for the soul to find inner peace and solitude.

Sebastian, It is good to have you back on the channel. We deeply appreciate your contributions. Your cross-cultural experiences, well-stated here, are invaluable in illuminating universal human truth that is mostly ignored today. Having lived in the US and then a long time teaching in Japan, I can totally agree with your experience. Thank you for sharing your struggle with this. I have also struggled with my native culture’s propensity to ignore interior awareness and being that we all have.

This guy is fascinating. His way to express concepts is fantastic. He is so calm and transmitting tranquility. I love it. I want to comment in a three step answer to this question “How do we express what we think and how does the receiver of our words perceive what we say?” Step 1 There are several ways to think. For simplicity I just use those two: Slow thinking and fast thinking. Or also: analytical thinking and intuitive thinking. With many hours of slow analytical thinking about a specific topic you start to build your intuitive thinking about this specific topic. After many months or years you may have been lucky to have created the capacity to master this topic intuitively. You have become an expert or a system thinker. Any question you get asked about this topic you can answer intuitively. Step 2 There will be topics that you do not unterstand. Because your brain is not able to grasp the concept. Even if someone explains the concept, you will not be able to follow his line of thoughts. Your brain is not or not yet able to catch the meaning of the words. For scientific things the solution is to invest time, openness and energy to slowly build up the small concepts, then the bigger concepts and then, if you are lucky, the whole system. This may take a long time and maybe life is to short. The concept of Buddhism or many other religions, practices or meditation where humans go back to their mental roots, by switching off their rational thinking, by getting out of the hamster wheel and start to simply be, is comparable to an animal that just stands or sits without thinking. An internal or an external trigger may cause a reaction, but that reaction is immediate and not caused by rational thinking. In that state of “non thinking” the reaction is intuitive. It is not logical. It is, in most cases, however beneficial, i.e a good reaction. Step 3 The tricky part is to teach on a rational basis, i.e. in analytically thought words, to switch off the analytical thinking and become a “being human” as opposed to a “thinking being”.. Personally I think that both worlds have their charms

100YearsPlus, Great reflections! Thank you! We are grateful you found this channel and hope you will return often and refer your friends. Yes, human “thinking” is a multi-layered reality; like a tree, the more branches the more leaves! And…we all start as a little sprout in the dirt. Here is another module that will engage your consciousness on this subject: The Practice of Deep Talk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5C6l3WnoKt1a5I
