Changing your body pain and tension isn't really a matter of doing something to your body, but is about changing your nervous system as body, mind, nervous system are connected. You will learn how to reset your nervous system which will reduce your pain and tension. When your nervous system becomes overly sensitized (stress), body tension and pain arise. Because of these direct connections, you can change your body tension and pain by chaging the state of your nervous system, "resetting" your nervous system. I'm giving you the experience of how your body and nervous system/brain/mind are connected and the benefits of body-mind integrated movement practice.

What you need is NOT superficial "body fixing/correction" techniques. What you really need is to learn how to connect with your body, and learn how to learn about YOUR BODY and how you move from the inside. No one can do this for you and to you. It's time to shift your attention inward to YOUR BODY! Changes start to happen from the inside!

@@fingerprint5511 sorry for the interruption during your movement practice with the ads. hopefully you can use this interruption as a challenge that distracts your attention and nervous system, but stay connected with your body just like how things happen unexpectedly in our life and can stir up our nervous system. But, with practice, we can learn to regulate ourselves by regulating how we move, breathe, be in our body:)

i have been having severe pain on one side, i guess it's the sit bone, been told could also be the IT band - i do qi gong when i can and i cycle. i found that doing this i 'knew ' what was the balanced alignment - but honestly it was also the most painful.

Hi Taro! This was such an interesting practice. I noticed less tension throughout my entire spinal chain after completing the awareness exercise. I think it's because I shifted my awareness to my sitz bones as opposed to just focusing on my spine. When I am in a seated position, I tend to bring my attention to where my low back is in space, which then affects the rest of my spine and the position of my pelvis. However, I feel like I tend to overlook the importance of paying attention to where my sitz bones are and noticing where most of the weight is being placed. I really appreciated this exercise! I agree with you, there can be a disconnection between mind and body. This is why I love awareness practices like this one! It brings me back into my body so that I feel more present and at ease. I'm really enjoying this series!!! 🤗🙏

Sitbones have direct contact with a chair, so it's easier to sense them, and sense other parts in relation to sitbones. The more concrete your sensory experience is, the more clearly you can become aware of your body and how your body moves:)

Amazing. Sitting with the back straight is so easy after learning your technique. Previously I had to put in a lot of effort to bring my back straight up as it was constantly collapsing. What have I done differently? I’m into Vipasanna meditation to develop mindfulness ie to be aware of the object in the present moment. My back is very straight while in meditation retreats. But out of retreat, I can’t get the same result. Perhaps what is lacking is the awareness of sitting. Am I right?

I love your videos! I know that I tend to have my pelvis tilted too much forward and have been working on that. What was interesting is that when I was doing this exercise, I realized that when I move my pelvis forward, I totally go off my sit bones and wind up putting my weight on my thighs and I often wind up that way! I'm sure this is not good for me at all. So thank you for making me aware

you're welcome:) "nervous system reset" is a fancy way of being in the moment. Bringing your attention to your physical body, and specific parts of your body makes it easier to sense and feel your body specifically, (connect to your body), and you're not in "your head" with all kinds of thoughts/noises, which keeps your nervous system busy. what specific movement retraining you do won't really matter until you bring your nervous system into the right state, so learning how to reset your nervous system by learning how to connect with your body is very essential. HOW you practice is more important than WHAT you practice. WHAT you practice becomes relevant when HOW you practice shifts to your internal focus (learn from the inside):)

It would be interesting to hear more of your thoughts on the dissociative component of physical and mental health conditions and the neurological impact. With much love and gratitude ❤💜❤

when you bring your attention and awareness into your body and learn to sense your body and movement in a specific and clear way, first, you're connected to your body, your sensation, out from your "head". This process alone reduces "noises" in the nervous system which can regulate autonomic balance system (downregulate sympathetic nervous system). From this state of the nervous system, you can start to retrain your nervous system and movement patterns towards optimal functions. When your nervous system is in an overly sensitized state, it's difficult to retrain. This is why I encourage viewers to close their eyes when they practice movement following my verbal guidance so they can shift their attention and awareness to their own body instead of the computer/phone screen.

@@dommccaffry3802 you're welcome:) we live in the world where we're constantly bombarded with information, and kept in our head space, which makes lots of thoughts/noises, which stirs up our nervous system. So, bringing your attention to your body,, specific part of your body is a way to shift away from thoughts and bring yourself into now. This is exactly what zen meditation practice teaches. So you can look at this body-mind integrated movement practice as a form of meditation practice as well. From this state, new possibilities begin to emerge and come into our awareness.
