Experience vs. Education? I graduated high school with a 1.8 GPA. I was a blind student who almost went to film school. Here's how I got to MIT and what I learned during my time there.
Thank you MIT Sloan School and the Ruderman Family Foundation for having me be apart of the LEAD20 Leadership in the Digital Age program!

Hi! Thank you so much for not giving up on your dreams, even if it seems impossible, you're such an inspiration! I'm a 17y.o brazillian girl, who is looking for her way to become a Bioarchitect. Getting information about it is a little problematic, since there are still no college courses specialized on that, but I heard about a MIT project that is developing on that. So thank you once again for your courage, because it inspired me to go further, and to not give up, no matter how foggy the path seems.

There are some sighted people you’d argue should not drive either but hey they’re on the road

I love how you have managed to follow your dreams, and you are a very talented and interesting individual. A formal education is great for some, but certainly not the only way. You can learn plenty at the University Of Life. Keep doing what you do, you are a great inspiration for people your age and even older folk like me 😊

Hi! Thanks for your video! Education seems for many the only path but is not the only one. I learned a lot having the experience in the field where I could learn from my mistakes than in a class. I think education should be more experimental. MIT offers that education of being able to get your hands a little bit dirty. I am applying this year to MIT as a student, can you give me any advice? Thanks!

I'm 31, and I had a PhD in Marine Science since I was 27. Getting there with a visual impairment was not easy, but turns out it's even harder to find a job at my qualification level (especially in academia). I live in a part of the world where also most companies and institutions are not incentivized to hire people with disabilities... I am also considering a career shift - more education and less research? Self-employed odd-jobs? Writer? All the above? No idea... :-)

Get involved with as much as you want but also be willing to try new things. My biggest regret (which isnt that big but) was me not doing more electives and trying more things sooner such as Mock trial, I did poetry competitions but that wasn't until I was a senior. Just try new things!!
