You saw some great birds! We also had to enlist the help of a local to find the Tawny Frogmouth in Sydney, they are well camouflaged for their environment. Aren't they awesome?! Keep your eyes out for the Galahs which are pink! But I totally agree, the kookaburras and the gum trees are just iconic for Australia. I'll be waiting for you to start talking about the snakes and spiders. 😆

Um there are 300 species of Eucalyptus, well all over, but I guess you meant 9 just in that forest. Also it's scribbly gum (there are scribbles on the trunk made from some insect). I think the tree with the huge pine cones is a Norfolk Island pine or something like. All this about trees - I'm so bemused 😂 So cool you saw a tawny frogmouth and a pademelon. If anyone has a lorikeet in the US you can be sure it was illegally smuggled out of Oz. We (as in my sisters and I) call crested pigeons punk birds because of their "hair do". This was soooo much fun. I love your enthusiasm.

Most of the wildlife we saw was just north of Gold Coast. We also went back to enjoy the beach and did some wonderful hiking. Love the whole area!

There are squirrels in Australia. Mainly in Melbourne but mostly in Perth. But not heaps of them.
