So pleased that you enjoyed your time in our beautiful country. I came to Australia from the uk in 1980 as a backpacker and never went back.44 years later I am a naturalised Australian citizen and still in love with this great land. When you come back make sure that you visit Western Australia as it is stunning with so many fabulous natural wonders.

Bananas are expensive because there're also sourced domestically and imports are banned, supposedly for biosecurity reasons. You can save quite a bit on groceries by shopping at ALDI.

Thanks for sharing your experience down under! I just signed up for Trusted Housesitters with this thought in mind to save on accommodation costs by housesitting in more expensive locations. It's awesome to see that you are successfully doing it and are coming in under budget!

Great lifestyle… enjoy watching and learning about your experiences. We are born and raised Aussie living in Melbourne, now approaching our retirement. Our first plan is to see more of our beautiful country travelling in our caravan (trailer), hope to do a lap of Australia over a few years. Then 4 months in Europe and 4 month in North America once fully retired. Yes it’s expensive here and the cost of housing is astronomical… but I understand we do earn more.

You two would have brightened the hearts of some many Aussies on your visit. We love down to earth, real people, not folks tired to some agenda to convert Australia to their way of life. It's the best country on earth because of it's white Anglo Saxon, British Common law roots. AU has had between the first and third highest standard of living of any nation from the mid 1860's to the mid 1960's due (thankfully) to the isolation of distance. We were God's own country until politicians and globalist realised the mineral wealth and vast energy resources of uranium, coal oil and gas. Most of which, after WWII were identified, bought, capped and kept mostly silent by large Americans and British multinational corporations, from then until now. As you likely learned in you wanderings throughout our wide beautiful land, we dislike rude, arrogant fanatics of any kind, creed or race and embrace everyone on an equal footing whether a traveler, tradie, teacher, priest, police or politician. (Well, maybe not the last two...) Anyway, you guys would be most welcome neighbours anytime. Love, cheers and respect from Sydney, AU.
