I follow a couple other Japanese KZbinrs and you're the first one to do a video about this island! I didn't even know it existed. I would have a hard time following the "no petting the rabbits" rule. They look so cute and soft! But I understand they are wild :) thanks for the video!

What a beautiful Island, with the cutest and fluffy bunny's. I know rabbits are always hungry. Their like eat poop sleep and repeat. That sunset was breath taking, with the orange yellow and red playing off the water.Your little bunny was a great sovereign to put with your collection. The food they offered was amazing, I could smell the steak cooking on the grill from here. The hotel was beautiful to be older and big. This video and all of the other goes to show you that we are learning more and more of the beauty and history of Japan. Saying Thank you is not enough,so I show my gratitude by the heart I give. It's so cool that an island that once produced so much horror is now a peaceful haven for nature and rabbits. Rabbits are so cute and cuddly and they make awesome pets - as long as they are contained and not released on to agricultural land. Seven rabbits eat as much grass as one sheep and at the rate at which they breed, they soon have more than enough to destroy pasture or crops. Early European settlers in New Zealand introduced rabbits for hunting, (there were no native mammals in New Zealand that could be hunted). At the same time, people were trying to establish farming as a viable industry and because there were no natural predators, the rabbits almost took over the farmland. There burrows are dangerous to other animals such as sheep, cattle and horses who are at risk of stepping in the burrows and breaking their legs. European settlers made some very poor choices when they came here - in fact, when they went anywhere. However, it was nice to see them enjoying a life of peace and freedom in their own environment. Thank you as always for a fun and interesting video. 🐰🐰🐰
@experience_japanАй бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and insightful comment! It’s fascinating (and sobering) to hear about the history of rabbits in New Zealand and the impact they had on farming and the environment. You’re absolutely right-introducing non-native species without considering the long-term consequences often led to significant challenges, not just in New Zealand but worldwide. I agree, it’s amazing to see rabbits thriving in such a peaceful, natural environment where they belong and aren’t causing harm. It’s a reminder of the delicate balance needed when it comes to nature and human intervention. Thank you for taking the time to share this, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 🐇✨

Does that mean that the rabbits rely on tourist to feed them? Cos u said the numbers shrink when there are no tourist from covid 19. Is there nothing to eat on that island? 😢 I thought there should be more greenery cos there will.be poop everywhere to fertilise the ground. Maybe there are too many rabbits that the ground don't have enough time to flourish?
@experience_japanАй бұрын
Great observations! The island does have limited natural food, and the large rabbit population does impact the greenery. Tourists help fill the gap by feeding them.

@experience_japanАй бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your comment! Feeding animals is definitely a fun and relaxing experience. As for eating rabbit, it’s not very common in Japan. Japanese cuisine focuses more on fish, chicken, pork, and beef, so rabbit meat isn’t typically part of the diet here. However, in some regions or specialty restaurants, it might be available as a rare or unique dish. Glad you enjoyed the video, even if it made you hungry! 🐇😊
