Saint Kliment actually created the Bulgarian alphabet, which is currently written by 250 million people, starting from Serbia, going through Russia and ending up in Mongolia. And the alphabet is called Cyrillic, after his Teacher St. Cyril

Hello and thank you for showing my hometown! Bulgaria is a country with a history spanning over 1300 years, but some of the darkest and gloomiest times for the Bulgarian people occurred after 1944 when the Soviet Union eliminated the bourgeoisie in the country. All scientists, writers, politicians, artists, and cultural figures were brutally beaten. A puppet government directly controlled by the Kremlin was established. This led Bulgaria to three national bankruptcies in the period from 1944 to 1989, significant poverty, shortages of essential goods, power rationing, and so on. Bulgarians are extremely grateful to Russians, Ukrainians, Romanians, Estonians, Hungarians, and others who helped us break free from Turkish slavery. However, at the same time, we have witnessed many negative aspects of the Soviet Union and present-day Russia. That's why Bulgaria is supporting Ukraine so strongly these days. We've been through the same false liberation!

It really is devastating what so much of Eastern Europe went through and it’s scary to think that the history has parallels to today. Thank you for your thoughtful comment

Why didn't you go inside the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to look at it? You don't have to pay anything if you're not recording... The interior is worth seeing. Those two churches you mentioned seeing in Ohrid and Skopie about "Climent Ohridski" - the old church in Ohrid is actually originally a Bulgarian Orthodox Church... That is why it is named after him. Clement Ohridski was a Bulgarian medieval saint: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clement_of_Ohrid The territory of modern North Macedonia used to be part of Bulgaria between 700 AD - 1400 AD when the Ottomans came the population there remained Bulgarian, and only recently during the Communist era, the Macedonian ethnogenisis occured. Bulgaria after the independence from Ottoman Rule in the 1800s, fought multiple wars to free their Bulgarian breathrens in the region of Macedonia, however the story of why and how modern North Macedonia came to exist is a very complicated one...

Clement of Ohrid was a Bulgarian saint, writer, and scholar. He studied under Cyril and Methodius and is linked to the creation of the Cyrillic alphabet. Most churches and monasteries in North Macedonia are Bulgarian from the First Bulgarian Empire. North Macedonians are taking our history and saying it's theirs.

His mother is French. So he is French-Bulgarian not even born in Bulgaria raised in the USA and got his education there so his success has nothing to do with Bulgarian education but American one. Cheers 🥂
