Hey guys, this is Julia from Belarus. Just watched the video (was crying and laughing all the time!), still cannot believe that this journey was real. How fascinating life is. You were my inspiration and motivation, I went through some difficult times with you, your videos made me believe that I could do anything in this world. But meeting you on regular rainy day was something I would be thankfull forever (the weather obviously was not giving the vibes that some magic could happen). There was so much more to this trip: it was right and comfortable (in discomfort), joyful and crazy, real and not real at the same time. Because of the love that you spread I felt so myself during this adventure. You are real people, the most honest, grateful and kindest humans I've ever met. You really make this world better, you do. Ohh and Yes family, your comments make my cry, love you all, you're amazing! P.S №1: Still processing that I have now 3 brothers. Crazy, what a life! P.S №2: Etienne, you are the best!

This video reminds me of the time my mum, brother, and I were travelling on the trans-siberian railway in 2016, we met a girl staying on the same carriage who had spent the last 10 years learning English, but we were the first English speaking people she had ever met, and she spoke so well!! We knew her for two days on the train, and as we were heading to Novosibirsk, she told us "before you leave from the train, please wait, my brother has gifts for you". Turns out, she is an artist, and her brother is a woodworker, she had sent him drawings of designs she had drawn, and he had wood carved Russia with a bear and a kangaroo on it (we're Australian), with the words "From the Gerasimov family to the Lawson family", and a few other beautiful wood carved pieces. It was the sweetest display of kindness ever!! She was just so thankful to be able to speak English to native speakers for the first time in her life. Russian and Eastern countries' kindness and warmth is one of the best things in the world. My mum still proudly displays the carvings in her house, and we love to tell others the story of how we were given them. Its so important to recognise kindness and love

Its nice to see a documentary that doesn't demonize the country. I am an American, and I've been to Belarus several times, and I've been at all those locations in Minsk in the video. Its a beautiful country, rich in history and culture. The people as you say don't seem friendly, its because its not in their culture to smile and say hello, as here in America, we sometimes do. But once you talk to people, they are often talkative. I've never had a negative interaction with people there, nobody beat me down in the streets because I'm American. But often they're just interested in my opinion of the country. And I always say its beautiful, clean, delicious food, and I love the culture and history. I encourage more people to visit and see for themselves that its a great country to visit! Fun fact: their KFC tastes better than U.S. KFC 😉 🇺🇲🤝🇧🇾☮🕊

@@kevinsview93 It's not "I don't like living there" level, it's "I'm afraid to live there" level. I was born and lived there for 24 years until I moved to Europe, where I have been living for 8 years now. I can now plan for the future, can you imagine? We can afford a house, a car, food, trips to other countries, save money for the future (and we are simple immigrants, we had nothing with us but a few bags of clothes, a pillow and blanket and a few thousand dollars gifted by relatives). My wife literally saved on food and asked her parents for money when she lived and worked in Minsk (and she worked as an architect, not in a low-level job). A huge number of people are literally on the bottom two levels of Maslow's pyramid of needs. I'm literally scared to go there because of what I've written in comments under political posts and liked them. I've seen criminal cases and people who have been tortured in prisons just for daring to take to the streets after the 2020 election or write something against it. I see 4 years of terror against those who haven't been caught yet. I don't want to go through this humiliation at the border with checks of your correspondence and interrogations (I am aware of similar humiliation with interrogations at American airports). If you don't protest, don't write anything about the authorities - you will live in peace and most likely nobody will touch you. No one will ever think of beating you up for being an American or any other foreigner (wtf???), it has never happened and will never happen. People literally grow up on American culture and enjoy the benefits of the western world. They are interested in socialising with people from a different culture. Many of them have never left the country their whole lives, like Julia (I hope she does go to Italy). All in all - Belarus is a great country, it's very cool that foreigners are coming there and discovering it for themselves. __EVERYTHING__ in that video is an absolute crystal truth. The only problem is those who control the country. And we should remember that only for this single reason Belarus is hell for many Belarusians. Hope you got my point, sorry for longread

Europeans and Americans can also come to Belarus and relax, or see, live, study, or work, do business, etc. Just like Belarusians and Russians do in the US and Europe. There is enough evil in the world. We see too much evil in the media. We are literally being set against each other. We must be smart to prevent a new war or a new arms race. We have had enough wars.

It's not the people that others are scared of, but the government and regime. Comment from a neighboring latvian.

Can confirm that whistling thing also. Im Estonian but our country has lot of russians here just like my grandmother. She always told me that when you whistle indoors "money will leave the house" or something similar. Greetings to Julia and Yes theory family from Estonia ❤🇪🇪

How loud evil is, that it drowns out all the kindness. People cannot hear the joy over the small amount of pain. You sought it out and gave it voice.

Ukraine is also a dictatorship, Zelenskyy was elected to end army and Azov shelling of former East Ukrainian regions of Crimea, LPR and DRP (which also used to be Russian and still were majority RU speaking) since the Anglo-US backed coup to install US puppet Poroshenko who stopped obeying enough so then Netflix helped elect his replacement; as well as end corruption. Both increased under Zelenskyy, then RU language was banned with Azov in particular beating and torturing and even kllng civilians, opposition parties banned and most recently, elections cancelled to make sure the dictator cannot be ousted, so US and England can continue moneylaundering of their citizens taxes they plunder for the weapon companies. I rode all over the country speaking to locals last year. Very sad that they are snatching teenagers off the street to put at the front...a 4 hour average survival time. Far more than 750k UA and 150k RU have died since Boris Johnson of UK rushed over to pessure Zelenskyy to undo the peace negotiation agreed in Turkey.....a habbit now for UA since also failing to follow the Minsk Agreement. When the snow melts and the lies are exposed, peoole will learn of the Christian holocaust perpetuated by the Zionist dictatorship of Ukraine (top 3, not just Zelenskyy) in collaboration with the Right Wing Ultranationalist Banderites. Ghis is what Russia was begged by the East Ukraine victims to intervene in for 8 years until they finally helped. England. US and to a lesser degree Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Poland and Lithuania

That what these guys showed you their perspective you can’t know what people really feel judging only from video Also people in Slavic regions are different from western. They show their emotions whenever they want and whom they want. These people don’t wear fake happy mask like westerns. Truth is that propaganda works as well

I'm a romanian living in the UK, and you going to the countryside, and having those experiences really moved me and really reminded me of my grandparents back home . Exactly the same energy and same welcoming that almost all the people from Eastern European countries have . I'm sure that everyone who watched this feels the same as me . Call your grandparents and tell them that you love them !! Thank you Yes Theory for making all these amazing videos !!

Beautiful video! I think many times, when countries are involved in conflict, the people, the regular everyday citizens are put into that category almost demonized. Thank you for showing a positive side of humanity and reminding us that people are people and have good hearts no matter where you are in the world. Love over fear!

This video reminded me of 2014, when Belarus hosted the Ice Hockey World Championship. The whole city was filled with people from all over the Europe, and there was a lot of joy, happiness, and festive vibes on the streets of Minsk. Today you can barely hear the foreign speech there, but I believe it would be back one day. Thank you guys for this video, this is the first time I discovered your channel. And thank you for showing not only Soviet monuments, but Belarusian people. Julia is the face of our young generation that just wants to be the part of the world, enjoy the life, travel, make friends and spread nothing but love, kindness and positive energy. And thank you for your tears, it was heartbroken and so sincere 🥲🤍 Wish you good luck and love always over fear! 🙌

Being part of the world just means unelected people from the EU pushing unpopular edicts on your country. Belarus is better off as it is.

In fact, you can hear even more foreign speech on the streets now, although not in English. ;)
