If 1mg of Finasteride period would cause side effects then it would stand to reason that 1 mg of Finasteride once would suddenly stop your hair from falling out but we know that's not true. The simple answer is a lot of people do research online and turn into hypochondriacs afraid over every possibility. I saw a dude on Reddit insist he felt like he was developing side effects from LOOKING at Finasteride, not even taking it.

I got my first box of finasteride today off my doctor I've seen for over 12 years. He said that he used to be against the idea of it, because of the possible side effects and it being used by alot of younger men for cosmetic reasons rather than health. He has changed his mind on the drug, because over 95% of the guys he's prescribed it to for hair loss, have no side effects and if they do it's usually something cialas will fix. That put me at alot of ease. He did say some guys can feel a bit depressed until their body becomes used to it, but depression from hairloss is definitely real if you're a guy that wants to hold onto it. My dr is also completely bald on top and says he wishes it was prescribed for hairloss when he was younger. What's the worse that can really happen lads?

I was terrified of taking finasteride because all the horror stories online. To make sure I don't suffer a nocebo effect, I mixed 3 fin pills, with 3 iron supplement pills (nearly identical) in a plastic jar. So if after 1st pill if I feel I am getting side effects, I can check if I actually took fin or not, given there is only a 1/2 chance. Thankfully that experiment canned me down and after 2 weeks I started to take the pill confidently.

it is untrue to say that finasteride 1mg is five times less powerful than finasteride 5mg. No. Finasteride 5mg is only slightly more powerful blocking 75% of DHT whereas 1mg blocks around 64%. So, the number of miligrams should not induce you into thinking it is 5 times less invasive.

What kind of BS video is this?? 1) 0:51 "We see this more and more frequently", then proceeds to not adress this at all for the rest of the video... 2) Apparently 1 mg is such a "small dose" that it can't cause side effects. What kind of argument is that? Some medications are taken at NANOGRAMS and have enormous and instantaneous effects/side effects! 3) It's infuriating how all the doc's are just ignoring finasteride side effects and calling it nocebo. Its SUPER obvious from all the comments online that the sides are 100% REAL and WAY more frequent than the 1-2% cited by the company and a lot of the time NOT nocebo. It's infantilizing the men who have sides almost. I, myself am a doctor and I am very objective in my observations and I 100% have ED (which I've NEVER experienced before), low libido, and low semen production. You know what I think? YOU'RE the one that has a pre-made assumption that "almost no one" gets sides, so when someone says they have sides you automatically put it on nocebo. You yourself have a reverse-nocebo effect sir! At first I thought these vids were good, and I still think they are, but I'm definately seeing major "holes" and contradictions in these guys' game and I must say I've lost a bit of confidence...

For the record I have used finasteride for 10 years to good effect for hair loss, I am an advocate, but like many who have taken it for years can clearly recall the feeling of "being kicked in the nuts" in initial weeks. However, what I wanted to disagree with is the unsatisfactory explanation for side-effects not being physiological for people, because "1mg is such a low dose compared to 5mg". The drug clearly has little dose-dependency. One pill of 0,2mg is cutting DHT by 50%, that's pretty f'ing physiological if you wanted to investigate a mechanism for a side-effect.

I believe most males can relate to experiencing a short "pain" in their testicles at some point in their life, the only difference here was it happened a handful of times. I hear a lot of stories especially concerning tinnitus, either that Fin caused it or aggravated it after like 5 days and with 0.25 mg/day. It seems so weird to me that a side effect can occur after this very short amount of time. 5 days with 0.25 mg does literally nothing. It does nothing even after a month. I do not know why that happens. Maybe it's nocebo who knows.

@@algo2957 Again, it's just super weird to me. Nocebo doesn't always happen when and where you expect it to happen. If you believe negative effects are going to happen, they're gonna affect parts where you least expect it. I don't wanna doubt your experience, but seriously, 1 day?! Scientifically speaking, taking 1 mg does nothing in one day, since it's quite a low dose. In order for Finasteride to work properly, it needs to build up in your system. That's why it takes at least 3 months for you to see any result. Then again, I've heard people say the drug increases inflammation, even though that's never been proven. Try stopping and see if your tinnitus goes away, then start again for about a week or two and see if it comes back again. @shalizzle7932 жыл бұрын
The buildup vs. enzyme production likely isn’t large enough to have an infinitely linear effect, meaning eventually the dose that builds up in your system will flatten as you reach the peak of the enzyme production/enzyme blocking proportion. Doctor could you explain the difference between minoxidil and stemoxydine and it can be combined together
@3PICAT3 жыл бұрын
I’m not a doctor but from the research I’ve done you can definitely mix minoxidil and stemoxydine together since they work differently. The difference is simple really Minoxidil -clinically proven hair stimulant that you can either get off brand or the more expensive Rogaine foam -the hair you grow with minoxidil will fall off if you stop using it. Means you will have to you use it for life. Stemoxydine -patented hair growth stimulant by L’Oréal (means you can only buy it from them, wich depending on where you live can be costly) -the research behind it is not very extensive so it’s not guaranteed that it works (L’Oréal obviously says that it does) -the hair that you grow with it can potentially stay even when you stop using it (but again this probably needs more studies to be sure about)

Don't take Finesteride 3 days of 0.25mg a day caused my friend who was a always turned on 19yo at the time to have lost the ability to have an errection for months. He said it never got back to pre Finesteride levels,. He asked me as my uncle was a pharmacist but he was unaware as it was a private and uncommon treatment in the UK at the time. Some guys have perminantly lost the ability to have an errection. In my eyes it's not worth the risk, and of how toxic it is to pregnant women's unborn children, you have to think if you should be putting it in your body. Your really rolling the dice with fin and dut. Forums upon forums of guys chemically castrated almost by this stuff. At the time I had no idea about the side effects and I was maybe 18 or so. I did see a forum about it that has been taken down. 🤗Hello Dr Vikram! First off thanks for the great channel. I have a question, finasteride is one of the drugs on the deferral list when it comes to blood donation. You have to wait for a whole month( 28 days) after the last dose to donate blood again. In another one of your videos, you said that patients can take a few weeks off the drug for reasons such as pregnancy and vacations and so on. I understand that you cannot prescribe a break from finasteride but is there a way, I could theoretically donate blood once or twice a year (taking a break from finasteride once or twice a year)? I know I should check with my personal healthcare professional, I will but I trust your opinion as well so it would be awesome if you guys can suggest a pharmacotherapy plan for myself, not necessarily a finalised one as I will discuss that with my dermatologist. I actually want to go on finasteride just so I can donate my hair for cancer patients but I also want to donate blood and help people. It is honestly depressing because I have finally managed to grow out my hair and want to help. I also am AB+( I know I am not AB- which is more valuable) so my blood plasma will be extra useful if I can manage to wait for a month and a week( at least once a year) to donate both my blood and blood plasma, it is just depressing 😭 . I just need to know if I can still keep my hair while taking a break every six months or so. Maybe I could start the drug for a year and then proceed with a pharmacotherapy plan such as this. Anyways thank you for your time. If you could reply to my question, I will appreciate it massively. Thanks 😊 again and have a great time reading the comments doc! Finasteride is the medication. The surroundings doesnt matter nor do they influenece the mechanism of finasteride. Just make sure you buy from a credible brand where you can be certain that it really has finasteride in it. The rest doesnt matter :)

This answer applies to all medicine: The active ingredient will be the same regardless of brand. Different brands will use different filler ingredients which is everything else thats not the active ingredient. However the strength of the active ingredient can be different. 1mg per tablet vs 5mg per tablet. So check those things to compare. However for hair loss you will be looking for 1mg of finasteride (active ingredient) whether its propecia or a generic brand. The price difference will be marketing or greed. The only reason to use a more expensive one would be if you were having issues with the filler ingredients in a particular tablet. Although that is unlikely.

I'm taking 0.5mg everyday. maybe if we reduce the dose to 0.25mg per day? I've been using topical finasteride 0.1% for 2 years and it didn't help. I will say I have autoimmune condition scarring alopecia lichen planopilaris and finasteride has shown to stop the disease so I feel I don't have a choice. Maybe the topical will work for you. I'm also on isotretinoin which is shown to be the most effective drug for this disease but fin has shown to regrow hair even in this scarring hair loss.

Hello Doctor. I'm still at one month of taking finasteride, but I feel like my hairline is getting worse. Before I take finasteride, my hairline is like Norwood 1 but I can feel it going to Norwood 3. Is finasteride making it more worst? And also my crown area is getting more thinner and thinner. Hello Ali, I am on finasterid 3x/week and minoxidil every evening since 6 months. Hair still very thin, scalp visible etc. looks worse than before I started both treatments. Do you think it’s still sheeeding effect ? First months it got better but since I changed from liquid to foam in December 2020 it seems like more sheeding occurs.
@MattThe1in27-1Hamill3 жыл бұрын
@@hadichami3921 it’s possible that the foam is not reaching your scalp therefore it’s as if you aren’t using the minoxidil. It’s widely known that once you stop feeding your scalp minoxidil all the hairs you grew with it will fall quickly.
@hadichami39213 жыл бұрын
@@MattThe1in27-1Hamill Maybe it’s exactly the opposite what happening and the foam is absorbing better to the scalp and that’s why I had more sheeding. Now it looks like the hair getting better, but maybe because I didn’t had a hair cut for months. I will continue with the foam I think it’s getting better all over my scalp and just be patience.

It worries me when Dr's doubt a patient's symptoms. I know some patients are hypochondriacal, but there's a reason this medicine is given in SUCH SMALL DOSE!!! It's POTENT ! And CAN cause adverse (potentially long term) effects--thus why it's given in SMALL DOSES! Buyer Beware.
