​Perhaps you've seen an X-ray? This type of image uses very high energy radiation called X-rays that penetrate most of your body but are absorbed or blocked by your bones. This creates a sort of shadow on photographic film (or more often electronic photodetectors today), allowing doctors to see your skeleton.
