At the end of the day, both pictures stand out as pretty nice little watercolours and your style and attitude is inspirational.

I lean more to the one on the left. More moving with the ‘angry sky’ and the slight lean of the light house. I personally would not have used the red splatter, but that is your choice.

Love it! I personally really enjoy every video you put out. I enjoy seeing you do a couple different versions of the same subject. I really learn a lot watching you sketch. Thank you!

It's fun to see you approach the same subject in different ways. Was fascinated in past videos. It just goes to show that everyone can sketch or paint the same picture a thousand ways. Some famous traditional artists painted the same thing over, and over, and .... you get the drift. Personally, I love it when you get your near-doppelganger sketches on 🙂 And, being loose, experimenting, and having fun... you could have been Andy Warhol's apprentice because you show up and play and create without being hyper critical. Your analysis of the things that work, and those that don't, aren't hyper critical to send you into a creative art block... it's learning and having fun and something that I've finally come to understand. Wish in my youth that my Art teachers had been more relaxed instead of tunnel visioned to make their grade quotas! It's why I dropped art at school and never returned to it for decades!!!! Umm... which one I like better is a matter of colour temperature with the skies. I'm one of those that looks at overall colour before looking at the details. The blue on the right is probably nearer an Ozzie blue sky (I imagine, lol) but I'm used to sombre clouds, that surprise at sunrise and sunset considering they mostly look monotonous shades of blue/brown-grey otherwise. So I think preference would be about mood, for me. Ian Fennelly has made me appreciate stark bright colours more. But, ha. I think I've convinced myself now that the left picture, even though you felt it lacked where the centre-piece is concerned, is the sketch I'm drawn to more. Moodier sketch in my humble opinion. I kind of like the fact that the building are 'hiding' more in the left picture and there seems to be more perceptional depth (just my way of seeing, ha). These experiments are just as important as the videos where you encourage us to up our game and get privvy to the great tips you share and stuff. Love it 👍👏

Thank yu, Wen! That's all the encouragement I need. I hove over videos sometimes thinking, hmmmm....is this going to add any value...? Ha ha - it can be very hard to put things out into the world sometimes! But then I get some lovely comments here from people who do find watching valuable so that's all I need to know :) Thank you for your kind supportive comments as always!

Both are lovely of course! However I find i like the right one better, mainly because of the lighthouse, the sky too has brighter colour....and if you think you missed out the weather vane, then I assure you it would look dashing on the pretty red roofed hut😊

Taria, you have opened up a whole new world for me and I couldn’t be more grateful! I had just started my journey with watercolour and happened upon your channel. The rest is history. I now find myself sketching everything in sight! I guess I am an urban sketcher at heart LOL. I thoroughly enjoyed your 7-Day Sketching at Home Challenge and LOVE your videos and everything you create! I have been watching everything I can on the matter and I think you are definitely one of the finest urban sketchers out there. Thank you for sharing your talent with us here ❤️ I would love to take one of your courses and am definitely purchasing your e-book. Good luck with your upcoming move. Love from Canada ❤️🇨🇦

I liked this a lot - learned a lot from both. I also noticed your tattoos! I don't have sleeves, but I have a lot anyway! (and since I'm watching your hands, I noticed the addition of a wedding ring at the end that was missing at the beginning, lol!)

Taria, the lighthouse in the first sketch was quite alright. I know Arradilla places more emphasis on the basic pencil sketch..but the likes of Teoh & Fennelly use the pencil sketch as a mere guideline..an outline at best. As long as you tighten it later with ink..shouldn't really matter. To each, his /her own. just my two cents :) `

Great point Somesh, I agree, I like to learn from as many different artists as possible and there's certainly no right or wrong way...

Hii I'm late.. Ummm do you wet your sketch first then apply water colour? Or you directly apply it?
@tarias_sketchy_adventures3 жыл бұрын
Mainly I add directly but sometimes for skies I will wet the paper first and then put paint on. I encourage you to just experiment with this and try different things to see what effects you can make!
