Been watching for awhile. I stopped at Dan's on route to my Texas winter home from Ohio. We spent a Sunday in Hot Springs, Ar and about 3+ hours being shown around and purchasing a new True Hard. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. Good People!

Glad you're back! I hope you're able to stay this time. If I can afford to help anytime soon I will but I've ran into some unexpected finances recently which is also why you don't have my knives yet. Hopefully I'll get it sorted soon.

Glad to see the KZbin issues got fixed. I can't help but wonder what this stone was used for by the previous owner. I try my best to make sure the Stones I use wear as evenly as possible and I'm glad u mentioned it. Certain KZbin sharpeners I've watched over the years don't put any effort into it. I can see how waterstones could be beneficial but the finish from a black ark is second to none with proper progression. I follow a silicon carbide sandpaper progression with my stones so they are ready to go as well. I stopped with 5k on my black ark last time. Goodluck with the patreon man, more folks need to catch your content.

STeeL ToeZ83 I continue with wet dry sandpaper as well. I stopped at 3k on this one. I appreciate it man.

That red brown grit breaks down very quickly like garnet grit. Commonly used for water jet cutting.
@roughroosterknifesharpenin55314 жыл бұрын
How so? I've sharpened on many stones over the years and never had a issue with areas like this.
@christurley3914 жыл бұрын
@@roughroosterknifesharpenin5531 The first abrasive powder you used on that stone, you said you did not know what it was. The color is right for industrial Garnet grit.

I use silicon carbide to flatten stones on glass works better then diamond plates just messy and loud
@roughroosterknifesharpenin55315 жыл бұрын
bp69 I agree. And a diamond plate won’t last long with a black.

Rough Rooster Knife Sharpening yeah probably not good for use on a waterstone but not great for really hard stuff like ceramics or arks

@roughroosterknifesharpenin55315 жыл бұрын
Thomas Ortiz yes and it depends on the stone. This one I used 800 1k 1500 2000 2500 3000

I'd like to have seen a before and after sharpening on the same knife to see what the effect is when sharpening after this laborious process. Sharpen on the stone as is and then kill the edge on the knife and re-sharpen to see exactly what the impact is.
@roughroosterknifesharpenin55314 жыл бұрын
I could do that. But I already know what it's going to do. I've covered that particular thing years ago in previous videos
