I'm 33 years old Slav. Slav actually comes from Slave. My country disappeared from the map for 123 years. We were slaves of Germans and Russians. Similarly to USA in 60's there were tables in trams "only for Germans". People died for being Polish and speaking Polish language. In 80's Police beat anyone who protested or said something bad about the government. You could disappear and die or go to jail for years without your family even knowing about it. When we got freedom in 90's average sallary was 200 $. My country has maybe 2% of black people because we never had colonies somehow someone tells me I have white privelege and I should kneel too. I hate the fact in USA everyone just distinguish people by skin colour and not by the fact if they are good people or not.

I'm not an American and we don't have that problem over here. But what I think they don't understand, that every heavy attack towards a group of people, will have a counter effect. If you want minorities to do better, heavily focusing on ideas that divide people by their ethnicity and race is not doing a favor for that. It will make resistance. It is saying that some people should be put down because of their race.

Wokeism is a rejection of argument & open debate. The people in charge of stopping this lack moral authority & courage. When you climb the Vitim ladder, then we all stop being equals. Just because you were not born in a hood or a ghetto, does not mean your voice is worth less. You have to be willing to argue for inequality of outcomes based on intelligence, education & one's capability. In order to stand up for what's truly right, you have to be prepared for members of the woke mob to call you a racist. Privilege is colorless.

"You guys are white men playing white men. So is it really acting?" Talk about reductionism. The fight against racism is about fighting these reductive stereotypes that say the colour of your skin says everything about you and your place in a social hierarchy. That was just such an incredibly tone-deaf opening comment that reveals an attitude that white folk are some undifferentiated mass. The play looks like it has important things to say on that front, particularly looking at what being white means in a society as obsessed with race as America. But the presenter seems really completely uninterested in any of that.

(Just wanted to add a reply here that I made under another comment. I like giving out unsolicited advice and wanted to express my view) I am not mad I just think this does no good. I will not go on a long rant about what I believe. But the issue with race in America and globally was that it had a assigned monetary (chattel slavery) and (social value) Jim Crow effects from slavery ect. I really don’t think this new form of social justice is really doing anything productive because we are just changing out one form of racial social classes for another that will maintain the same effect. We need to move to a place where skin color has the same value as hair color you can acknowledge it you can find others more attractive (physically) but it does not have much greater social implications. This new form of “ radical black liberation” I strongly believe is doing much more harm then good. (Sorry for any spelling/grammatical errors typing this in the car)

Even though I was just a kid like them trying to make friends, I was treated like a complete outsider. For much of my life I considered myself a liberal person but videos like these as well as the larger left-wing political movement has made it clear to me that the left wing in America has no place for white men other than bullying, humiliation, and then after all that, guilt-tripping.

Imagine putting all whites into a single box and claiming you're working against racism. Reducing an entire population to a label and treating them according to that label is the litteral definition of racism. My mother raised me right, I've always grown up respecting people based on their character and nothing else. I grew up in China from a young age, around chinese people all the time, and never once did I feel different or not at home. The whole concept of seeing "race" in people is something that never came into my mind until social justice became a thing. I'm not saying there isn't work to be done, I'm saying this is the wrong way to do it. Morgan Freeman put it best imo: racism is dead when I can call a black man black and he can call me a white man with no negative connotation. This doesn't look like social justice, this looks like payback.

Because it's just a straight up historical fact that the colonists first tried to enslave the natives but it didn't work out because they where not immune from many of the disease the colonists brought over to the New World. So they enslaved Africans because they were immune from the disease. The majority of the colonists didn't see Africans as inferior, in fact they lived side by side with the Africans in the Northern states and some even let them vote. Plus it's also worth noting that we purchased the black slaves from African Kings. So we bought black people from other black people, they literally owned each other. The thing I’ve noticed is that when you try to counter oppression with conversations about “privilege,” you almost inevitably end up in an entirely different conversation about why the person you’re addressing is NOT privileged: “I don’t make enough money to survive/I grew up poor/I had serious mental health problems,” etc., and you completely lose the plot. I also think a lot of the “power, privilege, and oppression” dialogue is exercised in places like academia, the arts, and corporate America for a purpose: it diverts attention away from the income inequality that high-power places like universities and corporations are perpetuating: “See? We don’t need to reconsider things like wages, unions, healthcare, education costs, or housing. We are having Conversations about Privilege! We are Doing the Work!” This “work” tends to shove people into boxes that define them by their oppression; again, I don’t know how that is actually helpful. In my opinion, we need to look at what is actually working right now, and that is grassroots civic activism and, in particular, UNIONS. Unions do not have time for self-congratulation OR flagellation and navel-gazing; they actually have concrete goals that they need to reach, and real problems to solve. That tends to shift the focus from political Calvinism to, “What can we do right now to help?” Yes, they still have to counter oppression, because division and subjugation get in the way of unionization; but they need to do that, by necessity, in a way that brings people together in common purpose. When you look at what is producing tangible results right now, you need to look at the labor movement, not intellectuals intent on dividing people into “identity groups” and oppressions, just so they can purposely avoid the very real problems and inequalities that they are themselves perpetuating. I’m not saying that this woman specifically is doing so, but I wish she’d taken a more precise look at how racism can be used strategically as a divider to keep the rich in power, rather than just, seemingly, shame people.

@@benitosalazar3749 Yes. This strikes me as eerily similar to the Evangelical movement of the 2000s in particular, and of the Puritan movement. Notice that the goal is to “end racism,” but very rarely are concrete, measurable goals laid out (much less actual plans to reach those goals). The same largely goes for other oppression. And then the (usually white, cis, wealthier, straight) people proceed to pile on their own guilt in a weird act of self-flagellation, which makes minorities of all kinds out to be weak, stupid, and defined by their oppression itself. And there’s this notion that non-minorities can “do the work” all they want, but they will never be “done,” and must continue to castigate themselves for their unconscious oppressive behaviors. This strikes me as political Puritanism. Is there unconscious bias? Yes. Let’s talk about ways to counter it. Is the racial wealth gap real? Yes. Let’s talk about equal pay laws, unions, and educational inflation. These people can’t get to the “let’s talk about what to DO about it,” because that will cost them money. Instead, they just want to contemplate how guilty they are and leave it at that.

I don't want your sympathy... I want people to understand that discrimination hurts everyone regardless of why you're experiencing it... Yes it's great to call attention to the marginalization of so many... But not if in doing so you silence those how are still struggling and marginalizing them farther because they aren't struggling for the right reasons... Or for factors that you deam worthy enough to acknowledge... Discrimination is discrimination regardless of the reason for it... Its about the privilege. Which is to me is also combined mostly with class (which also is a result of race many times, for example the white descendants of white colonialists in Latin America still being the highest richest class). There is a difference of course between white people, and their cultures and yada yada. But there's a also a lot of resemblance when it comes to the privielege associated with whiteness, especially combined with a higher class. And that...is what some people just find hard to accept. Which from certain people I can understand aka poor white people. But it is what it is. I do think we really need to start pointing out class more though. Btw, I wish this (selective) indignation was also there when it comes to brown and black people. Like we mostly know, all over the white world, brown and black people go through a lot of discrimination. From the States to all over western Europe. But anyway, im foreseeing weird racist replies and empty discussion, ego battles and closing dissonance by externalising. Im not here for that. I just wanted to sprinkle some nuance and leave this be. Ps. I live in Amsterdam...and here it is also living abundantly..the privilege of whiteness. Especially combined with middle class and up. Especiallly and ironically in the pc whyte world, where they pretend to be for social equality but its mostly focussed on letting females do the same ish as what whyte men have been doing. And to stand up for Ukraine for example but never for Palestine, or for Afghanistan, or for Yemen and go on and go on. Bye

I am fed up with how your people that separate yourself by the colour of your skin using 'aye'. Aye has been, for thousands of years, Scots for 'yes'. Now, I see my culture misappropriated by culture vultures, which don't respect my thousands of years old culture, that is still in use regularly today. They claim "aye mane", "aye dawg", in their rap music etc to the extent that "aye" is now mistakenly interpreted as "ayyy". It's disgraceful to steal such a word, so ignorantly, from a very rich culture which has evolved over thousands of years, by a 'culture' which has emerged only very recently and it's only substance being "fuh beetchez mane, smoek weed ang purpoh drank ang shoot dat nickquh ang shiet yo i be in preeson ang fuh beetchez drugs guns mane nahmeen" but will still hypocritically complain of the slightest misappropriation of their own culture.
