I've been using resin for about 4 years now. I've never used Ice Resin, I like Little Windows. When a piece is a little sticky that usually means your mixture wasnt even and/or you may have put too many drops of the coloring in there. Also, if you don't mix it thoroughly that can cause the stickiness. LW asks you to mix for 2.5 minutes. I would definitely try the pearlEx powders. I've had issues with liquid coloring. Also, LW only needs 24 hours to cure, I can actually handle it after 12 hours. But I had one that I tried the liquid color and it was incredibly bendy and a tad sticky. Eventually it got hard (took about 7 to 10 days) but broke with slight pressure. With regard to the long silicone molds you were trying to remove, try some soapy water and it will slide right out. I fill up my in the sink with warm soapy water and I drop the molds in there. I let them sit for a bit then I move them around a tad.. then push up from the bottom.... they usually come right out. Hope this helps.

Art resin is supposed to be the #1 non yellowing resin. However I find maybe due to the thickness it leaves so many micro bubbles. In your experience, what is the best non yellowing resin that releases its bubbles? Yes....I find the powders to set nicely as opposed to the dye

Elizabeth Moriarty resin is thicker when it is cold so the bubbles hold more. It was most likely micro bubbles making it cloudy. If you have a heat gun you can run it over the top of your project to help release some bubbles.

Yeah I’ve noticed when messing around with measurement on liquid verses mica the liquid coloring has to be less than the Resin miX, other wise it takes weeks to dry if it even dries 🤷🏽‍♀️

1) could be too much of the dye 2) ratio could be off for the part a and b 3) just wait longer before taking the casts out of the molds 3) resin likes to be in temps of 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit 4) for the longer molds, pressing up from the bottom will help 5) practice makes perfect. When I started, I had stuff come out like yours. After doing a few pours, you get the hang of it.

You have no idea how much fun I had watching you...reminds me of my first experience with resin. Be careful stirring when you add things to the resin. If you get some of that glitter or flakes to the bottom of the mold, it can actually stick out a little when the resin is cured. That's why you put in one layer and let it partially cure before adding things to it.

Its likely flexible due to the transparent color additive. If it is still tacky, best way to fix it is by applying a coat of UV Resin and cure it to get a hard finish.

Just some ideas Yvonne. Give Alumilite dyes and pigments a try. More expensive but very high quality and concitrated. Last forever. For lost heat option get a low heat heating pad for reptile aquariums. Put your molds on the heating pad, cover with a cardboard box and cover box with small blanket or towel. Leave overnight. For removing bubbles get a cheap small blowtorch from Harbor Freight and quickly pass over the molds. Have fun!

Being tacky is usually either curing temp, ratio, or amount of color/moisture in my travels. I havent used that particular resin, but they are usually either by volume 1:1, 2:1 etc or by weight. If you mix a weight ratio resin by volume, or vice versa, mix will be off. The hotter it is the faster it cures, colder is slower or not at all. Also adding too much liquid will throw it off, even if its made for resin. Looks like the red you have is the transparent vs opaque one, so maybe for this resin the amount you want for the color will throw off the ratio, adding some extra hardener should make them cure better in theory. Some brands are more sensitive than others to moisture. Matte inside mold=matte finish, gloss inside mold=gloss finish. Sometimes the tacky or bendy ones can be left to cure longer and will harden. You can also save them with another layer of good resin on the outside. If you use a warm bath on the bottles they will be more liquid than syrupy when mixing and cure faster because theyre warm The larger the batch the quicker it will cure as well. It can be quite a surprise when you are used to a certain time and try a bigger batch and having it go off in the cup before you are done. Bubbles on the back can be popped with flame. I am still fighting with bubbles against the mold or inside. I tragically tried vacuuming, letting it rest after mixing, longer cure and shorter cure resin with no luck so Ive given up an am going to make a pressure pot. Some people can manage without one, but I need to be quick, batch and not fight so pressure pot it is. Any poly propelene( #5 maybe #6 or pp in recycle symbol) work well for mixing cups and resin will peel out of them, so if you buy food in plastic things they can be reused for resin. Apologies for the ADD post typing while watching. Yeah you mixed by weight later in video, read to be by volume, likely why they are bendy and tacky. Get a paint or medicine cup with marks on side, or you can just make your own on 2 cups, they just need to be the same heights. Pour to line on cup instead of weighing and it should be good. Says equal parts, so 1:1. Min is 50g so minimum 25g a to 25g b, usually in 2 separate cups the pour each into 3rd cup and mix then pour into a 4th clean cup and mix again. I dont alwaya do that cuz Im lazy, but if you have problems after trying by volume its troubleshooting.

When I mix in powder I take a small amount of b and mix powder in it on a teflon/craft sheet with a small spatula/pallet knife until smooth. Then scrape that into rest of b, then mix a and b.

Hi Yvonne, I've done a lot with resin and a.Inks. Gold and silver inks sink to the bottom and don't work well. The secret is to use a small amount of white layered with the inks. There is also a great mini donut silicone mold I use a lot for donut beads. Great work.

A few comments to this video indicate that you may not have the prober mixture which is why the resin is a little flexible. The instructions you read said "equal parts by volume" while you did equal parts by weight. I have done a little resin pouring also and it seems that volume is more important. My instructions also say that you may end up with more of one than the other when the bottles are finished and that this is normal, even if you are measuring correctly.

A blob of clay works well holding the pieces in place while they dry. I resin large projects and a torch works great for getting surface bubbles out.

After you fill the mold, tap the mold container 2 or 3 times on your table to bring the bubbles to the top and disappear. Very interesting video.

34:09 - "Mix equal parts by VOLUME." And you proceed to measure by WEIGHT. There could be a huge difference, depending on how much each part weighs per ounce. I only mention this for other beginners and to point out that that's why your first batch may have all been soft and not fully cured. But you did some cool experimenting.

Might try setting the molds up higher to set ... Top of fridge maybe ... Warmer near the ceiling ... That's where I put seeds to sprout ... Maybe up in Azmyths room ... Heat goes up ... They will make nice windows for fairy houses especially since they are tapered ...I would trim that bigger drop mold ... At least the big end of it ... The holographic flakes look like Australian opal ... A double pour, clear, glitter then black would look awesome ...

You can make a batch of clear resin and pour a layer, then after it dries, mix up another batch and add your glitter or pearl powder. When it dries, it appears to have a tiny bit of magnification and the colors really do pop nicely. Something to try while experimenting as well, since you mentioned your place is cold, you can warm up the resin in a pan of warm water (set both bottles in the pan) and it will be easier to work with and also have less bubbles. You can also use a long bic lighter for fireplaces, to gently torch the resin after pouring and it helps get rid of bubbles. I found that when I added inks to resin that was already in the molds, it left areas of sticky mess. So now I mix my colors in well, prior to pouring them into the molds. They cure completely and I like the results much better. The ones that were sticky, I cleaned off the parts that didn't finish curing as much as I can, and after three or four weeks, I can still get a mess on my hands. Some are nearly dry and the ones which hardened, I can use washi tape or something to embellish the project.

If you use an embossing heat gun just after you pour your resin it will take the bubbles out of it. Don't hold it on there to long. Hope that will help.

For the long thin molds, I slip a flat toothpick or coffee stir stick down each side, and then grip the loop with pliers to pull it out. Works like a charm!

I saw a tutorial Von that said when unmolding use a drop of dish soap and water to the top of the crystal and it really helps with the unmolding!! Gorgeous work for an amateur lol! It's hard to believe that you are a novice about anything!!

Karen Leigh Yes, That is what watched on another video- she put Dawn dish soap in water and dipped the mold in then rolled it between her hands which works the dish soap in between the mold and the resin piece, and hers came out easily.

Easy way to get air bubbles out is to shake them while there wet still. If you gave a massager you can use it to vibrate the table your molds are on it will get the bubbles out

Those look so cool. I'm going to be trying resin art for the first time. I'm glad I found your channel. The warm soapy water is a handy tip to release the items from the molds. Thank you 😊 I saw one video where someone used the flame of a BBQ lighter to skim over the resin to get rid of bubbles. Just be careful not to melt your molds.

I agree with the other commenters that your ratio is likely off, or it's the temperature. It also could be humidity, if it's fairly humid in your home. I personally prefer to use a no-mix resin, like a UV resin that cures with a UV light.

I use clear molds but that's cause I use UV resin. No mixing. I like that. The clear molds makes it easy to flip it over and hit the back with the UV lamp as well. No sticky that way. They do have different kinds of resin tho. The soft type resin says bendy for rings and such. Learning that I can use clear resin as a glue has opened my world. So much fun!! Love your work. I'm a complete beginner myself. I was watching another youtuber and they were saying the type of resin they were using was a little flexible until it completely cured and that took 2 to 4 days for it to become absolutely hard. Maybe that's the type you are using.

Fantastic video! So fun to watch you experiment with the resin. It is easy to get addicted lol. I haven’t used the resin you have but I have been working with ICE Resin for several years. I design jewelry and the ICE Resin is a jewelers grade resin. For the pieces you had that were still flexible they just might need to sit and cure a little longer out of the molds or it is possible the additives (inks, dyes, paint) ratio was more than needed. But if after a few days if the pieces haven’t fully cured you can apply another layer of the resin and then they should be just fine. If you add acrylic paint for more of an opaque look don’t water the paint down just add tiny amounts. Toothpicks are a great tool for working with resin. Also, get some small cups to mix your resin when coloring it. For the pieces that have a matte finish take a paint brush and add a thin layer of clear resin to top to make them shiny. If you have a piece you don’t like the look of try sanding the whole piece with a very fine grit sandpaper. The piece will have a cloudy look to it like sea glass. This look is also really cool if the piece has mica or opals in it-it will have the flash or glow look. If you sand it and don’t like it add resin on top again for a shiny look or paint it. For inclusions-you can add some metal charms, embellishments, jewelry pieces but brush some resin on the pieces before putting them in the molds-doing this will help cut down on bubbles. Don’t add flat back crystals they lose all dimension in the resin and have a flat look to them-not pretty lol. But rhinestone or cup chain looks great in the resin. You can put foil down in your mold before opting your resin. I like to put flowers in my crystal molds. I use a 2 part resin and if I add any liquid I add just a touch more hardener. Pearl ex and glow in the dark polish works amazingly well too

Also to eliminate bubbles, as soon as you por your resin into the mold, skum the tops with a lighter. I use a BBQ lighter. The heat breaks the bubbles.

I am new to resin, waiting for products to be delivered. I was worried about demoulding those small crystal moulds with having arthritis in my hands, if you struggled maybe I should give them a miss. Not a problem as there are SO many other moulds I can use. I’m a huge fan of Pebeo paints, hadn’t thought of finishing the back of the resin with them but it’s really effective. I use ice resin. It is only flexible if it isn't cured correctly, or, if the mix is off. I use Everything from acrylic paint, to alcohol ink, to liquid dye inks to color my pieces. #1 importance is Mix exact, stir slow 3 minutes, and let it sit for 5-8 minutes b4 pouring. Has a 45 minute working time... and, I pour paint with it too.. I am Sure you've learned a lot since this video... I didn't see when it was made.. I just happened upon it.

Hi Yvonne, making chess pieces many years ago with resin the stickiness was caused through not mixing the resin and hardener for long enough, normally it will say on the container but add a few mins longer, to remove the pieces from their moulds I used a deep roasting try half filled with washing up liquid and hot water emerging the pieces for a few mins they came out easily, superb crafting Yvonne :)

To level out your pieces when it's irregular try pushing it into some of that floral foam that you arrange a fresh flower bouquet in. It will mold exactly to the shape.

i use a little dab of oil a rub it into the mold. Tap a paper towel over it to get any excess . it makes it easier to slide resin pieces out of the mold.

This video was good, and cute, and fun. Good to see another beginner and see how things turn out and that there are challenges for everyone! It is entirely too long and needs to be broken up into several different videos. Hi Yvonne, new to your channel & LOVING IT very much. Wanted to let you know that I read through ALL COMMENTS before I comment. I ordered molds about a month ago & can hardly wait till they get here. The gems are great. Getting the long ones out of the mold I though of using an eye dropper with the soap & water but a few people commented that & I didn't want to duplicate so I thought of a couple of other things to try. A syringe type meat injector might as the needle is fairly long & you might want to file down the tip to dull it to keep from poking a hole in your mold. By using the injector you would have more control of the pressure you apply over just using the eye dropper. Also I agree on the mixture A & B use equal parts of each by ratio. I would also suggest that instead of doing your stirring of colors (dye, ink, mica etc) I would stir them in the small medicine cups then pouring into the mold. That will keep the resin off the sides of the mold & you won't have to scrape it making a crisper edge then push your glitters down with a skewer or toothpick. I hope that helps/works for you and me cause I'm going to try it when I get my molds. Keep doing these videos you are really wonderful, creative & talented. What state do you live in? First let me say that I love your videos! You are the sweetest and most lovely person I've "met" in a very long while. Secondly, I have those crystal molds you are having such a problem getting out. I have to say they annoyed me so much I just stopped even using them! However, I used baby oil to get them out. Put a couple of drops on top, twist it around to let the oil seep down into the mold (down the sides) and then mash on the bottom part until it just pops out. Still annoying, but much easier on the hands! Thank you for sharing yourself and your personality!

I Know this is a old video but it's the first time I have seen this, if you lightly brush your molds with house hold oil before pouring your resin it comes out easier, it may depend on the resin, if you want to experiment with that it might make life way easier

I've got some old needless syringes left over from giving pet medicine to kittens. A squirt of the dish soap water into those molds would help. You can usually buy the syringes from a farm store. Not sure if they sell them from pet stores anymore. Don't go to those places.

Saw this fact online. Might be your problem. Resin casting requires a warm room. Room temperatures in the 70 F range are ideal.

Oh my goddd this video is soooo relatable 😆 struggles of starting off with resin.... I started just few days back and all got sticky and nasty and I felt like I am go a destash my resin supplies and never try them again ... but after watching this I wanna try once more ...may be I can rectify my mistakes 🙂 thank youu for sharing this video

Tip for any beginners watching this. If your resin is still bendy like this, just leave it alone. If you fight it trying to release it from a mold in this condition, you will have squish marks and finger prints and all kinds of bad stuff in the end product. In the winter or in a cold work space, it will take much longer for the resin to cure.

If it's picking up fingerprints and they're flexible, they aren't fully cured. Some colouring agents and additives can cause the chemistry to change so that it never fully cures. The stickiness on the back may be able to be fixed by doming the backs.

Remember, its mix by "volume" not "mass" which is likely why its flexible. 100g of the lighter hardener is likely more volume than the heavier resin.

so many natural crystals have the color at the bottome and less at the top or vice versa i love the ones that the color puddled in the point so nice!!!!!!!!

The one with the "cavity" that you filled with nail polish...maybe use some little crystals to make it look like a geode? Could end up as a pretty pendant.

Temperature is set the issue with the stickiness and flexibility. The warmer the better.

Those hearts that bend is actually the mold. Just give them time out of the mold and they will dry up and get hard. I do remember that happening to me long time ago. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
