I just took a closer look on the back of the radio. I hear people say in this day and age a radio that has a external monitor, they are DVI where they should be HDMI. This has HDMI, BUT it goes even more newer technology by having also Display Port! That is wild! So with this you can have tow external monitors, GridTracker on one, the other running wsjt-x and still have the Expert SDR app running on the front monitor. This is one hell of a machine!

I see you've gotten creative Jason when your startup shows very interesting I like 👍

I used the HDMI Port on the back. And also connected an additional monitor using a USB cable. If you used the DV port in the back you can’t see the monitor screen on the computer. You can’t operate the both of them at the same time.

To get the computer to work with the radio you will need virtual Audio Software and also Virtual Com Ports. But you don’t need any cables. That is a great thing!

That is a 8 core with only 8 threads, it doesn't have multithreading cores...

@@ronwolenski-n8wcr I would put in an i9-9900K in it and bump up the Ram to 32GB and the M.2 to 2TB

Computer. Radio. AC into rig. Too much mission critical stuff in it. One goes out, and you have an anchor. Will system upgrade to Win11?

Just saw your video on the MB1. Since it has a Windows 10/11 operating system, I have to wonder how vulnerable it is to the latest hacks?

To me the GUI is a much nicer looking screen than the computer EESDR Screen. Just my own personal opinion.

Sorta yes, the link in the description is an affiliate link, but you could just as easily go buy it off a different website.

The only issues I had at times with my MB1 was with Windows 10 updates. Plus, with my MB1 it was not Windows 11 Compatible. Not that it’s a big thing, but just to let the people know that.

How about having an HF in a "box" like our V/UHF rigs. Your computer is the control head. Would work for home and portable ops. Flex seems to be on that road already. Win11 is coming out. This is the time to do this. Now for mobile, Icom needs to put the 7300 guts into a 706/7000 sized box. For some instilations in smaller homes, that might be the ticket

I have had the MB1 for over 7 years - original model NOT the MB1 Prime. As you know it will NOT accept Windows 11. I still use SDR2 NOT SDR3. My MB! has developed an operations system failure. I ONLY run CW. I have to reset many functions every time I turn it on since it no longer retains certain settings. Have received tons of help directly from Russia with the Tech Services Manager. The radio has more capability than you could ever imagine. I run an external monitor and will drive a 4K monitor. I only use a mouse and never the touch screen. Don't use 2, 6, or 160 meters, but everything else works well with my vertical and an MFJ Versa Tuner. SWR is never higher than 1.3 to 1. Should download the manual as well as the others listed on their site. I log into the Expert Electronics site and have formally registered on it many years ago when I bought the MB1 for $5,995.00. Have no regrets even with some of the glitches it developed - still a helluva radio! Rich - W2FKN

More Issues: 1. Uses 320w. 320w ÷ 12V = 28.7 A. Need, on the safe side a 35 A power supply if you can power this on DC. 2. 19 pounds of weight. Going from bowling balls to anchors. 3. Built in RUSSIA? China bad. THE BEAR WORSE.
