Many people attribute this year’s outlook through the lens of last year’s bowl game. However, I have a different take, considering J.A.’s playing time last year. A QB needs time and experience to elevate his game from high school to the D-1 level. If you take the first three possessions out of your evaluation of the bowl game, you see an accurate representation of potential QB play. If his rate of improvement during this game carries through Spring and Summer practice against one of the best LB and DB groups in the country, the sky’s the limit.

Great content as usual, I am a ton more optimistic now, looking at that insane schedule, had me worried. Stutsman and Billy coming back were both huge! Like you stated, they gave up a lot of yards but not a lot of points! Ane they were a play or two away from beating Kansas and Arizona. Matter of fact if the OC played to Win instead of not to lose conservative they would have beaten Kansas

I think 10 wins is not an honor just because it is the SEC. IF Oklahoma prepares hard for each game and the coaching staff keeps the team focused, this will be an exceptionally great year. Oklahoma needs to clean up the unnecessary errors, get conditioned to play hard throughout the game and season, and with physicality, nastiness, and angrily this can be an undefeated season. With the surprise being offensive line play and record breaking year for the offense in passing yards, rushing, and scoring. I was just watching the history of Oklahoma Football III, depicting how Steve Davis as a sophomore went undefeated with a tie at USC, in a game we should have won. I’ve seen great quarterbacks go for five games without an interception then I’ve seen them through three interceptions in a game. You don’t know you just don’t know how the game is going to end. These people can’t assume that they know they just are guessing. That’s why they play the game. Some players put their heart and soul into the game. It may not be every game. It just may be the right games. Mr. steel knows that they don’t know who’s going to win. That is the scary point and the reason why they play the game nine and 3 or 11 and one.

Here’s what most people seem to overlook. If our offense/offensive line (and JA) has to play against a top 5-10 defense everyday…..they will be prepared for any defense they roll out against. I think OU and Texas will take the same consistent road that Missouri and aTm took. Missouri will be good(not great) and aTm will win half their conference games no matter how good their players are. I already knew that and I think the Defense will not allow more than 17 points average. And I also figured the Offense is going testing against the amazing defense every day, so I think the Offense will have 37 average per game. 37 - 17 OU would be able to win all, but against Texas, that is always a 50/50 chance, except OU wins 65% in the last 24 years. So if OU can hold Texas also at 17 or less, then I think they can go undefeated. If course if lots get hurt then I won't be that good. So I hope they stay good. #Boomer!!!

I believe coach Bedenbaugh will put together a respectable O line, and they are going to have to punch above their weight. JA hopefully has grown and matured this off season, hoping for big improvements from him. Having great LBs and secondary will give the D line more time to get to the QB and wreck opposing backfields. Im an SEC guy, and welcome Oklahoma. And I've got to say 7.5 wins is about right. Now I think the over but, the schedule isn't in your favor. With only 3 true home games and 4 road games and 1 game in Dallas. It's hard to win a road game in the SEC. I think physically you can compete. It's going to take a few years to get mentally prepared for this league. Let me explain that. When L.S.U. beats you in death valley, you have to let that go. Don't let L.S.U. beat you the next week. Everyone in the SEC has NFL talent and great coaching. Don't let a hangover beat you the following week.

I used to be a die hard sooner fan since the mid 70’s even through the dark days of schnellenberger,Gibbs and Blake but ever since BigGame Bob ( stoops) stated loosing major and winnable bowl ha plus the 3 “ possible” championship games in which they were humiliated in then Lincoln Riley came in and won his bowl game in impressive style against the gators now comes BV who had an extremely lack luster showing in has first two games??? I don’t see OU winning as many sec titles like they did in Norman with big 12 titles nor do I see them ever coming back into national contention at least not in the foreseeable future. Maybe by an act of God will they win one.
