I don’t have fetal alcohol syndrome, but 5 of my siblings do and she also smoked cigarettes with them. I don’t because my mother had me while she was under the age of 21 so she didn’t have personal access to alcohol while pregnant with me. I have had problems with every single one of my siblings. Three of them are in Prison . I’ll never forget meeting my first baby sister, all she did was shake and shake, like she was shivering but she was actually withdrawling, I just didn’t know that at 5. My mother ruined and destroyed 5 peoples lives and she had no remorse for it. She never told them sorry, never told me sorry and now I have an obligation as the eldest to help them as much as I can but it doesn’t matter, they still ruin their own lives even when the help is right there free of charge.

You wouldn't want FASD, I have it. Suffering from random headaches is one of the things I have. 🥲

Doesn't matter what disorder someone has, if they are conscious in the moment of deciding to commit an act they KNOW is wrong, they are not NCR.

It is not a disorder. It is a disability, cognitive impairment...

Well just another ignorant person in society that doesn't understand FAS.

I have partial FASD, living with the stereotypes of this disorder putting pressure on my back is killing me. Not all people with FASD are aggressive like this guy. (In my case, I'm a friendly computer nerd.)

same here; i was born an addict, i went through drug, nicotine and yes, alcohol withdraws, i have fetal alcohol effects, i have a couple of learning disabilities and related processing and learning issues, but you know what, i know right from wrong and i dont shoot up innocent people. i know fas effect everybody in differnt levels like all disabilities, but being fas is not an excuse ! he still knew right from wrong, he knew enough to be able to go through the process to buy and use guns, he planned this out, so, yeah, he knew what he was doing.

@@Shannonbarnesdr1yes. Nikolas had criminal intent and acted with malice. He committed a heinous act and deserves to be punished. I agree that not everyone with FASD is a criminal. Many have jobs and families.

Agreed. The defendant knowingly had intent and malice aforethought despite his disabilities.

People in this chat commenting “An absolute mitigating factor… but not that much.” need to take care of a child with fetal alcohol syndrome or a child with severe learning disabilities for even a month and then comment. People without those experiences think “everyone can learn, it just takes different teaching methodologies”. No, everyone can’t learn because their brains have been damaged, short-circuited. I’m sick and tired of society talking all the latitudes about inclusivity, accessibility, mental health etc. etc. but doing NOTHING about true implementation that help these individuals or giving sentences that take them into consideration. Stop with the platitudes, the studies, the bumper stickers. Oh yes, and insane American gun culture.

The problem is the condition puts them at risk of alcohol related delusions. They even cover it briefly in the video. They'll even stalk others due to the delusions that they obsess on.
