It is so fun to watch peoples facial expressions as the brain tries to process it all . Eddie was the first at many new things and a true legend and KING of the hammer ons . I was lucky enough to catch Van Halen twice live in the 80,s and they were SO good ! Just awesome to see younger generations discover this man and his many talents .. RIP Eddie you will be missed Sir ! Great reaction !

Here it is, 2024, with DVD, KZbin, etc. and it makes me laugh when folks say, "I've never heard anyone do sounds like that on a guitar before." And all the while, one gets to SEE it happen right before their eyes. Now run the clock back. Imagine us older m-f-ers the first time WE heard it. That was just it. We could only HEAR it! We couldn't see a THING unless we got lucky enough to be baptized by the Rock & Roll guitar God himself, King Edward, in concert. In 1977 the entire planet paused from spinning as Van Halen's debut album, which featured the six-string guitar revolution that changed the way rock and roll guitar was played forever. "Eruption." Human beings around the globe simply stopped moving and did what all of us did the first time we heard this legendary wizardry on a guitar. Stopped in our tracks, felt our chins hit the floor from the jaw-dropping sound we were all hearing and following it all up with...... "Wtf is THAT???!!!" Followed by "How?" "Is that a guitar???" Edward Van Halen had just entered a sacred chamber what was truly only fit for the presence of Jimi Hendrix. Edward Van Halen became the second rock and roll guitar player to literally change the entire game on what can be done with a guitar. To this day, his DNA and influence can STILL be heard in not just guitar musicians far more than anyone else, but in other musicians of musical instruments too. He pushed an envelope never pushed or heard of in this manner before. The man is sorely missed too. Edward, may you and all of the other great ones who passed too early... Jimi, SRV, Randy, Beck, Holdsworth, etc., may you all shred in peace. Thank you all for blowing our minds and making our ears happily bleed with joy.

Don't listen to it first. Genuine reaction. Musicianship is another level.

Built his own guitars and couldn't read music. This is pieces from different songs. Started out as a warm-up, playing around. He was raised as a child playing classical piano

Great reaction! There has been greats before, Jimmy was great but sadly gone too soon and Stevie is probably the best blue's guitarist ever but Eddie is the greatest Rock and Roll guitar player ever! RIP Eddie ❤
