As someone living with several chronic mental illnesses that were once so severe I was practically disabled. Looking at the people around me and family that I live with im watching them experience similar things that I have and still do. It's kinda surreal that so many are experiencing such things now... I've been able to stay stable for years now with small rather minor episodes that will last a few hours to a few days when there are certain environmental triggers or if something emotionally jarring or mentally shocking happens. Despite experiencing things worse I can feel this wearing on me as well. When you feel its getting to you (easier to tell if have experience and done training in identifying your triggers and mental state) build a very simple schedule, when you complete a task praise yourself for doing it. If you can't do one task due top any number of reasons feel proud for what you did do and try again tomorrow. Work self care into it as well. Use escapes such as reading, art, movies and video games but don't rely on them to much and try top keep a simple schedule. Have getting out of bed as one task and again reward and praise yourself for it

It seems like we spend a sizeable chunk of our lives making sure we have somewhere to live, and also making sure that said somewhere is as comfortable (and sometimes unique to us as individuals) as possible. Then when we have to stay home, all of a sudden it is the last place we want to spend extended periods of time in! This makes no sense! Step back and really look at the place where you live. You have 4 walls around you to keep out the cold or hot wind. A roof over your head to keep out the rain/snow/hot sun. You (assumedly) have working plumbing and running water. And electricity to run your appliances. And a warm, comfortable bed or couch to sleep in. Already there are some basics that so many people don’t have. Next you have internet access and tv for information. Cupboards to store food, a fridge to chill/preserve food and an oven and/or microwave to heat food. Moving on from there you have your creature comforts (things you personally enjoy): tv streaming services, gaming consoles, books, devices to play music, that piece of furniture that you love using that would seem out of place in anyone else’s house, maybe even workout equipment to keep yourself fit. You might even have pets to play with and to love. That sounds to me like the perfect place to stay in comfort and luxury that you have designed yourself. So why do people not want to isolate themselves in such a place? I can’t think of anywhere else that would be better to be isolated in!
@jackp.richardson64154 жыл бұрын
I'm beyond grateful I don't have to deal with harsh financial ruin and waiting on breadlines for hours on end just to get a meal for the day. I think Congressional paychecks should be halted and that money should go towards public works and food dispensaries for those in need. If they're not doing their job, they shouldn't be paid, those who can't work deserve to be assisted.

I know all the introverts like me are flexing about how we already know how to handle this situation but it’s kinda unhealthy to suggest introverts are better off right now when isolation for prolonged periods of time can affect anyone negatively. I don’t care how “anti-social” you claim you are because you play video games for 12 hours and your catchphrase is “normal people scare me”. Humans are social creatures, and this isolation doesn’t just exist in a vacuum. This is a stressful time for everyone. If you aren’t stressed about current affairs, you are either ignorant or actively avoiding coping with the situation which is even more unhealthy than feeling a little bit alone sometimes.

And not to mention there never really has been a period of time in the history of humanity where all humans have been directed to stay at home indefinitely like this. The only reason they advise people to stay home is so at best the virus spreads more slowly so hospitals don't get overwhelmed. There is no proof that it won't still infect the same amount of people in the end
