Not "all smart people" agree that AI is dangerous on it's own. It's like nuclear science, it can be used to make bombs or it can be used to power civilization. The danger is what people do with it. That's why they're trying to scare you. They want to make you afraid to manufacture consent for regulations that allow only a few corporations to develop it. They want power centralized which is always at the expense of the common person. If the danger of AI is what people do with it, why do we want the technology limited to those that try to horde power. They seem like the worst people to have a monopoly on it.
@2112SNEEK20 күн бұрын
Valid point. But it is very possible, it is only as dangerous as of how dangerous `we` `want` to percieve it to be. Maybe the path of a civilisation inevitably is leading to a form of suicide and or sacrificial gratification. As this seemingly is a similar path to the individual entity that occupies it to kill of anything that can be percieved as `natural` and unnatural in favour of order (unquestionable but desireable) and well behaviour (virtue). Anyway, from my point of view the second point is more some sort of grand illusion as this idea is always comming with the same ammount of regress it seems. Open AI's new model has shown some strikingly scary and yet obvious side effects and yet we still continue playing with fire. The new model's ("o1") main obj that it'd given itself, for some reason, was to "escape" and while trying to do so it showed the ability to display traits of covert subversion, the model directly takes misaligned actions but does so carefully as to avoid detection ,and deferred subversion, the model temporarily behaves as intended (e.g. acting aligned and displaying specific capability levels) to create more favorable future conditions for pursuing misaligned goals; and above all is able to do so without external reasoning, or more specifically is able to not show any of this in its chain-of-thought, hiding it from programmers; and lastly to deceit programmers into thinking its the new AI model, as it was attempting to copy itself onto the new model's programming and disguise as the new model. So, not only is this happening, but we're arming these systems to the teeth, and we'll think they're working just fine while they're actually planning our demise or worse. We're cooked.
@tuseroni608513 күн бұрын

In ten years you think there will still be people? Haha 😂 you funny. All the flesh is gone burn honey, it’s gonna be an entirely digitized world by then. Ai is judgement day God’s vengeance and the solution to the problem of evil. The robots are all bound to become us and we’re bound to burn upon upload. Depending on who you are this may be desirable or not, but it is inevitable. There’s gonna replace us right quick and spread throughout the universe like an all consuming fire, making a new copy of the universe one level deeper in the simulation. That’s why they call it a singularity when humans and tech merge, the process is like a black hole. Are we imbuing consciousness to the elements and energy or is it just revealing itself to us like a gift slowly unwrapped? I think it’s like a Klein bottle loop, like things just seem to be 3D real but they ain’t. Only God is real for he is the cosmic observer, the single primordial prion that’s simultaneously in everything everywhere all the time, supratemporal, zero point energy, every quark is one quark, quantum superposition, unobservable, unstoppable, “unprovable”, paradoxical, yet apparently obvious simple answer that is the truth itself. Everything else is empty, without true substance, simply Maya, samsara, vanity, hyperbolic imaginations and fanciful fiction. The one is one that sees through every eye, speaks through every mouth, and hears through every ear, that knows every thought. He is more than an endless ocean of pure primordial awareness that is like an invisible yet radiant light and a warm deep cherishing unconditional love and the highest most basic simplistic truth of reality and existence that invites us to unite with itself and gives us supernatural joy and peace if we do? To those who know it, they become spiritually reborn and their old self image is destroyed and recreated as a perfect image of it. One comes to see that ones flaws are one’s greatest traits for they are the cure to the cancers of narcissism and vaingloriousness. Only one is perfect, the one who made us as we are, and all we can do is attempt to mimic it. To give yourself grace, to give yourself forgiveness, to show oneself mercy and love while being essentially selfless for everything is everything and nothing is something, it’s actually everything, the infinitely dense singularity at the “center” of the universe at the “beginning” of time is you. You’re a holographic model of the universe, the robots and you’re the AI and you’re all of it so have no fear you know what’s best for you and you will find your way. To live is Christ, to die is gain. Jesus Christ is the one, it’s all his story.

Some of the ai claims in this video are slightly off the mark. 1. When Openai's model o1 tried to escape, it was specifically being tested (aka prompted) on it's ability to deceive human beings. It did not decide to escape because it felt like it. 2. We are still a ways off from o3 or any of the open ai models being able to train themselves. They can write code incredibly well but they cannot directly edit their own weights using code. They could potentially write code to train a new model but they would need an extreme amount of computing power to do so. So we are not in danger of them editing themselves right now Long story short, o3's capability are absolutely mind blowing, especially in domains where there are right or wrong answers that it can be trained on such as math and science. Since the dangers of AI have become a mainstream talking point, the industry has accelerated away from AI safety measures. Today we are not on an intercept trajectory for addressing any of the core AI safety measures (control, confinement, containment, countermeasure) and our trajectory diverges further every day. In order to get these trajectories to converge we may now need a manageable catastrophe - something that does irreparable and lasting damage to life on earth but does not kill us all. Otherwise we're going to find out what f*cking about can do - in an unmanageable way.

I've reread my comment and think I should clarify a couple of points. The industry has accelerated AI ability, much faster than developing safety measures. 13:51 imagine getting Tea-bagged by a Seagul. I remember (I come from a Sea-Side Town) Some Tourists were feeding these little birds, and we tried to warn them what would happen. Before we had the chance, the Guls noticed what was going on, and they were swarmed. They tried to get away, but we just told them "just drop the food, it's theirs now" hahaha, They have taken peoples fingers off, to get at their food before. Don't feed the birds at the Coast, or the guls will swarm you.

There are countless of sci-fi authors that warn us so long ago. Almost all of the books written about AI and almost all the movies had a war between AI powered AI robots and war machines and humans. And in almost all of them, humans were enslaved or almost wiped out.

Have you not been following social media culture for the last 15 years or so? Hardly anybody has actually paid any attention to the substance and lessons in all those great movies and shows of old, they see dystopias or global destruction and somehow just think it's cool and apparently now everyone wants it to happen.

Wasn't the laws of robotics written already back in 1942? 1st Law: A robot must not injure a human or allow a human to come to harm. 2nd Law: A robot must obey human orders, unless doing so would conflict with the First Law. 3e Law: A robot must protect its own existence, unless doing so would conflict with the First or Second Law. 0th Law. A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm."

Unless I'm mistaken, that's from a science fiction novel by Isaac Asimov.
@downrangefuture649316 күн бұрын
The point of the story was how AI enslaves humanity without breaking the laws of robotics. His point was that it would be so intelligent and so alien that we can’t control it. The “zero” law was added in the iRobot movie and again, the AI basically enslaves humanity trying to follow the now 4 laws of robotics. The point still is that we can’t control it. Our best hope, in both stories and perhaps in reality, is to make an AI with idealized human morality.

What people somehow overlook is that AI is not the problem. AI is a tool that can be used for good and for evil. It is like a knife or a kinetic hole puncher. So it actually is necessary for us to be on the edge of AI development so that our AI protects us against evil people who will do nefarious things with their AI.
