Cap I'd just like to say that I've been watching your dcs video for 2 years now and you have had a huge influence on me. After watching your vides for a few months I just had to get a pc of my own and get flying. I picked up a good starter pc and hotas and track ir just like yours and was happy for about a year, then I decided to upgrade with new motherboard to accommodate an m.2 for fast loading. Went from 8 to 32gb of ram. Upgraded my graphics card to a Zotac 2060 and went from a Ryzen 3 3200 to a 5 5900x and upgraded psu too. Also got a Oculus vr to fly with and its amazing. But gaming isn't my first love, I race bikes which is very expensive and I'm a firefighter here in the UK so I don't get alit of time to fly, usually 9 or pm onwards. I watch all of your vides every night before going to sleep. So I'd just like to say a massive thank you. Please keep making all your cool videos. And I'd loveto fly with u somewhen.

Those connectors are for bare wire. You can tin the copper with a soldering iron to keep it from oxidizing too much if you like, but its more or less just a bare wire connector. Strip the ends of your speaker cable, twist the copper wires to keep it tidy, tin if you like, the red/black piece will either be spring loaded or you unscrew it a bit, insert wire, tighten back down. That's it.

@@Studio23Media Probably the lowest entry point with the highest immersion level is getting a Quest 2 and VTOL VR. Runs on a 970. Any CPU back to probably the first Core i series could do it, certainly the 2nd gen would be enough. With DCS, you need to get flight controls and it won't take you long to realize that it's better to have actual pedals and separate stick and throttles which will be quite a few hundred bucks already. So yeah, if you don't have anything yet, it'll easily be 2-3 grand in total.

Hey Cap, I think you just need some speaker wires, and you strip the plastic off the ends, put them through the holes in the connectors in the amp, and the same thing with the speakers. One speaker wire actually has two copper wires, and you need to connect the red connector on the speaker to the red connector on the amp, and the same thing with the black. And you should be good to go.

@toothpik00 2 жыл бұрын
@@animalmother3526 I find the stick base with omni throttle and left hand joystick grip is far superior to my old CH Products Pro Throttle. Being able to change the resistance via the dry clutches makes it feel much more like what I imagine a real throttle feels like. I don't use the twist on my main stick, but I do use the twist on the throttle side for wheel brakes. Very handy as the T.Rudder pedals don't have toe brakes.

Was expecting this to come up, watched your twitch VOD of your Carrier Command session as well as a part of the last Wolfpack session (wanted to see if you've been practicing before the actual mission again) and actually I took a look at the stream site to see whether I could expect another Wolfpack episode since I'm kinda waiting for it, but apparently you guys didn't do one last weekend. However, I kinda miss the Carrier Command content on the KZbin channel. I liked what I saw from 10 days ago. Sadly, oder stuff gets removed automagically by twitch (unless you disable that somewhere, actually). Wanted to watch the older session that you apparently had with Kortana as well. TL;DR: Shoutout for Carrier Command on _this_ YT channel. 0:53 Must be a VR immersion seat thingy something... 1:09 Looks like you have to screw bare cords up there. 1:32 Your ultimate flight sim hard-a-ware solution! BTW, do I see proper Crosswind pedals there? Finally! /) 2:36 Probably your best upgrade within the last few months :) - too bad you're having issues with them... 2:54 One of the best you can currently have for DCS, probably only beaten by a small margin by the 12x00ks. 2:59 Good guy. 3:02 3080 has 10 gigs, more recent models with 12 gigs exist as well though. Definately only bested by the 3080ti (12g) and 3090 (24g) and 3090ti (24g). I "only" got a 3070 and it does the job with a G2 at full res pretty darn well. I'd consider everything above that headroom for antialiasing and SSS > 100%. In other words, your rig is totally VR ready. 4:08 Veeeee Orre! 8:10 Wasn't aware that you could do so much with that thing. Well, not useful for me in VR, I guess :D

From what I could tell, everyone's using wheeled, swivelling desk chair for flight sims except TeaCipher. Which is a bit surprising. IMO the biggest single improvement you can make to desktop flight simming is to get rid of the desk and the swivel chair. I'm 2/3rds of the way there: I use an Ikea armchair, monitor on a mount that can lower it into my eyeline, HOTAS resting on armrest-height furniture next to the chair. This is already much better than flying in a desk chair - I can use the joystick and headtracker much more comfortably and precisely. The next step will be to fabricate some mounts so I can rigidly attach the HOTAS to the chair.

This answers the question I had… “Isn’t DCS too hard to play if you are trying to operate the cockpit with mouse input, and hunting around for tiny switches and dials?” The answer is yes, and obviously everyone just uses all those other MFDs and physical boxes with all the switches so they can control them with their physical hands! MUCH easier! Grump, I just bought a 1TB samsung 980 NVMe… nice to know it’s a big upgrade. Maybe I should bite the bullet on a freah windows install and make it my C drive? Although I was considering having it as a dedicated game drive . I have more SSDs than I have SATA lanes and M2 slots now, (6-8) so will have to look up the best way forward.

If you are running out of lanes, I would recommend consolidating into larger SSDs. I bit the bullet and paid $500 when I upgraded some storage. Used to have two 2TB 7200rpm HDDs but replaced them with a single 4TB SSD. Also replaced my two 24" 1080p monitors for that monster 49" ultrawide. It's all about consolidation. NVMe will be your best bet for a boot drive, and even partition some for a game drive if you want things like DCS to start up really fast.

@@WyvernFalken nice 👍 I have two 1TB SSDs to put in, and I’ll take out the smallest ones, and might bite the bullet and reinstall windows cleanly on a new SSD. A 4 TB SSD will be pricey, although SSDs seem to have come down A LOT over the last few years. Will keep an eye out for one. Like you say, it will be worth doing. I have a 38 inch LG 38GN950, which I chose because it had 1600 pixels vertical. I did see the r e a l l y w i d e monitors, but at the time they were limited to 1080 vertical, which I thought would feel a bit narrow. I prefer one monitor over several as well - a single GPU seems to work better that way. Thanks, and fly safe!

Old guy here. About those speaker connections. Push or pull the red or black connector they’re spring loaded. Feed stripped wire through the hole at the base of the connector, release button. Boom HiFi!

Cap`s setup reminds me of that kid in school who showed up for football practice with boots kept together by electrical tape. Who then scores a hat-trick.

The red and black speaker terminals look spring loaded. If you push then does a hole open up in the top into which you can poke some stripped speaker wire?

1:10 - If you're using nice thick wire, twist a bit of a tail right hard and /*Hey! Presto!) just insert it. A gap should open up as you "unscrew" the cap on what should be the plug. *--Dawks **_[PIR]_*

re the 70's audio setup? Not sure what connectors you need, but if its the speakers - you can just stick the wire in and screw them closed?

Try gently pushing against the outputs. Probably uncovers the hole to put a bare wire through. Release the cap, and it's held in by spring tension. There's no sense pulling or twisting, that just breaks it so it won't push in. It made for quick setup back then, unless you were one to tin the ends. Chances are, if you tell us what the stereo is, someone will chime in with which type they are, push or pull.

Yep, Cap, you can either run bare wires or google/Amazon banana connectors if you want it a bit nicer (though not expensive). From the looks of your duct taped rig… I’m guessing bares wires would suit you fine.😀

Simple wire connections....strip about 1/2" (1.5 cm) from each wire, press the red cap down and insert "red" wire and release cap; same for black.
