Hi @@jorgealejandroyanezpenaloz4747! This is a mistake that a lot of ESL students make... and which some native speakers make too!! Ooops!! 😖 The correct preposition to use after ARRIVE is either AT or IN (When did you first arrive in Manchester? / What time do you arrive at the restaurant?)

Hi Greg. I am Russian guy from Turkmenistan. My mixed conditional is the following: If I had not left Turkmenistan, me and members of my huge family would be the second rate people. How do you like this example? Please give your feedback.

Hello Greg. Unlike three first "Conditionals" videos, this one puzzled me a bit. I do agree that grammatical combinations you exampled are common in written and spoken English. However, if I were you, I would describe and comment these phrases differently. At least few of them. So: 1) "If I had more money I would have bought that car yesterday". A timing marker "yesterday" shall be understood that is nothing to refer to present tense. Today I might posses a car; different, of course, not that I wanted to purchase yesterday. So, neither money, nor car is related to present tense. 2) I can attach adequate comment regarding next sentence "If I knew him I would have say "hello". It might happen a minute, a week & a month ago. I don't feel here any present tense again. 3) Neither present, nor future I don't smell in the next example: "If she had more time, she would study another language". It might be about my grandmother who confessed me 20 years ago that communication skills in German language would make her life much easier in the years 1941-1944. However, she had to take care about her younger siblings. Consequently, she didn't have any time for mastering her intermediate level of German. So again, Greg...Maybe this mixed conditional is something more scientific, just grammatical, than practical? Maybe these and other examples could represent variations of the third conditional? Before you start sending damnations on my stupid head, remember that I am a bit dumb. And therefore, I am a Slow Learner. P. S. Since you advised not to apologize for mistakes in one of your video, I don't do it. I think my text is understandable anyway. The only thing I apologize is a length of my scribble. P. P. S. Thank you to everyone who read to the end.

I love grammar lessons, especially yours! These mixte conditionals are easy to understand for a French brain. I think a sentence like " stop whining , and I'll stop shopping!" is also a form of conditional sentence. "Give money or I shoot", too. In these two sentences without any grammar form of conditional, there is a condition. Right? And if I write "Have a great day, and I'll be in touch soon." doesn't it seem like a condition to have a great day ?! 220822

can we say, "what would you have done if you inherited a large amount of money?'' instead of using the second or third conditionals? I know that the condition is in the present and therefore cannot have a result in the past. However, I think the condition is hypothetical and therefore cannot have bearing on the past.

[Past - Present] If I hadn't studied a lot, like a mad, during my university course, I wouldn't have an excellent final average. If my cat hadn't got into my life two years ago, surely my life would be completely dull now. [Past - Future] If I were present in the meeting, I would tell you what happened. [Present - Past] If I had more money, I would've bought that book in the fair yesterday.

Hi, Greg. Would you mind giving me some feedback? One british woman told another: "Would you mind if I HAD the last piece of cake?". She said that BEFORE taking it. My native tongue is Spanish, so, I would have said: Would you mind if I HAVE (instead of "had", which is past) the last piece of cake? If I am wrong, I really appreciate to know why. You're the best!

This is the 2nd conditional, used with the expression "Would you mind" in order to ask for something politely. It's completely correct. This video explains a little bit more about using the past tense to talk about the future :-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYfPmaFqor95sKc

2 sentences: 1. If I had listened to my wife's grandma and hadn't took a cold water bath I wouldn't've felt sick. 2. If I had listened to my wife's grandma and had drunk warm milk with honey I would feel much better. As I understand first example is pure 3 conditional. And the second is mixed conditional 3+2 (past+present/future). Am I right?

these conditionals and mixed conditionals have always confused me. 1) If I were your mother, I would have taken care of you and your sisters. If I had been your mother, I would have taken care of you and your sisters. 2) If we had Messi in our team, we would have won the match.
