Someone once said a theory about what RUST could possibly be, and it's probably my favorite take on what RUST's story could've been: "I'm sure all RUST fans know about "it", the one that RUST keep talking about, the one that RUST created, the one that has no description. Well, what if these "games" RUST are making are here to keep us solving riddles, to keep us busy, and to keep us from knowing what "it" is. The creature that chased us down in "can you see it?", which most people believed was "it", could be a decoy of some sort to make us thing we've found "it" and stop looking for it. Maybe the whole story of RUST relies on "it", and what it actually is. But we may never know for sure, all we are doing is playing new games each couple of months and solving new puzzles and riddles, getting trapped in creepy forests, exploring abandoned houses. Maybe these real life locations that RUST are sending us at the end of some of the games may be related to the ACTUAL "it". Maybe they're places where "it" was seen on. RUST's role is that he CREATED "it", and may be making all these games to prevent us from getting closer to figuring out what "it" is. We may never truly know the truth. Maybe some day. Some day." That's not exactly what the person said, I just recited what he said in my own words because I forgot where the message with that theory was sent, and I'm too lazy to go looking for it. I heard it years ago, so some info may not be accurate to the original thing, but it's still my favorite take on RUST tbh.

I love how Rust in reality was really just a horror passion project, some random art you made that blew up. It really shows how much you cared about the horror genre and the art of video games, and how communities really contribute to the lore and the meaning of such media. It's sad most of the games are slightly broken, but I think just having them exist and the memories is fine. Rust was one of my favorite "myths" on the Flamingo KZbin channel and your games really were a part of my childhood an the development of some of my friendships, thank you for sharing with us your art, and it's great and just so heartwarming to see everyone back and just taking a walk down memory lane while we look at some nostalgia and talk about the Rust games like we're old friends catching up.

These games were honestly a huge part of my childhood and I loved how simple yet terrifying they were. I really enjoyed the fake players aspect and just the constant mystery surrounding your character and why these different places existed in the first place. It was really cool to see the behind the scenes of all the games; and even though there wasn’t much of a story, the atmosphere that was built throughout the games was enough to make up for it. I hope you’re well and can’t wait to see any future projects that might come about.

I was just a kid when Rust was big, and it's kind of crazy to think that was a full 6 years ago. Thank you for it, it was one of the most unique experiences on Roblox at the time because of how ominous everything felt. It was really mysterious in a fun way, it felt like there was a huge story to it but honestly I can't blame you that it ended up to be you just having fun making atmospheric horror games. I'm a novice developer on Roblox myself now, and I can understand pretty much every point you make in this video. It's kind of funny, you ended up sparking a whole subgenre of Roblox games just by having fun doing what you like.

@@RUST010 I understand how that goes, becoming something big in such little time with no idea how to approach your upcoming is really stressful, seen it happen to a friend or two actually haha. But even then, in retrospect, and in my personal beliefs, having an indefinite/indifferent ending actually does make it better, as (lets say as an example, it WERE to have an ending) it leaves the community blocked from finding out the meaning of it all (which lets also say that it's meaning is ultimately nothing either way). leaving the confusing "puzzles" and "riddles" behind basically tricks the audience into believing something different than your original intents for the road to the end. and you could say that when making the random games, they were made to throw off the people that were digging deeper into the "lore". in the end, story or not, it definitely was a pretty good series if you search for the right ideas.

As someone who used to be obsessed with RUST_010, I'm very glad you finally decided to explain your games. I used to be so obsessed, I think I remember more about your games than you do yourself lmao, so here are some things you missed that I personally remember: -The developer password in the database DID in fact have a correct password, which is "devlogin123". It would say "Success" although it did nothing. -I remember the applications in the computer in R U S T. One of them was a command prompt where most commands didn't work. However, typing "execute" would make the CMD say "Success! Please wait...", although nothing happened aswell. Somebody said if you were to type that in then go to Smile! and do the ending, you would get a different one (Although that's most likely not true, but it'd be nice if you clarified). -In "It's out there...", the computer at the end of the game would lead you to a place called "in the distance...", which you missed. Was there any way to open the barricaded door at the end of that game? (Or do you not remember?) -"look behind you..." has an ending where if you touch the sewer gate thingy, it would lead you to an ending similar to Smile!, where you get murdered by some guy. -What was "it"? Before the myth ended, you would always ramble on to Albert about some creature called "it". And you said it was the creature who chased you down in "can you see it?". I assume you didn't plan out anything and it was just some random thing you made up with no relevance. -WHAT WAS THE SECURITY PASSWORD IN FROWN FOR GOD'S SAKE /j So yeah, just wanted you to explain some things you didn't explain in the video. It's fine if you don't answer. Edit: OH YEAH I FORGOT, Can you explain what that "News616" video was?

Even though you didn’t end up pinning down a full-fledged story, I still adored all the games and videos about you. You were such a big part of my childhood, man and I really thank you for all the work you did. Wishing you luck on all your future projects! If I had to put together a story with what you had already, I’d say perhaps “RUST” found a kid in the abandoned asylum and took to making them his AI Masterpiece. Turning them into the Smile Creature after increasing experimentation. This kid-turned-creature roams around abandoned buildings in search of people they can make “happy” and (maybe this is a stretch) they look through abandoned buildings because it reminds them of the asylum, where they came across some of the most unhappy people. Maybe some of the single-player games were actually encounters with the creature by different subjects and maybe the kid had a fascination with scarecrows. So that whole scarecrow thing was just a way for the creature to bring in some “happiness” On RUST’s side of things, he increasingly goes on to create more AI’s. Which slowly improve as they gain more abilities, such as, chatting or calling meetings. I like to think RUST already believes in the AI takeover of the world and is simply facilitating it in a controlled manner, to which he can reign over. Which is maybe what the bunker in OP. RUST is for. The eventual takeover haven and the main control center. In the middle of all of this, Flamingo is either the test subject for RUST. Being the person who has to firsthand test these AI’s, or he’s the next person in line to becoming RUST’s next AI masterpiece and each game is simply testing his abilities not only to communicate with the Smile Creature but also the AI’s. That’s why RUST so closely monitors Flamingo in each game. That’s what I have in mind. I haven’t done a full watch-through of the series in a long time so I could be missing things or have huge plot holes. So please don’t mind me. If anyone else has any ideas of how you think the story could’ve gone, do share! And again, thank you so much for your hard work RUST! TLDR; I just filled in a made-up story for the series that I came up with on the spot

One of the best myths for sure, just because of how unique and honestly terrifying the games were, at that time there was nothing like it, a stalker myth who made you find codes using a computer that also sent you to different games, looking at your own dead body and it jumpscaring you, the clone people coming after you, and much much more.

watching albert play these back in the day as they came out is one of my favorite memories i have of roblox. looking back on it now its kind of obvious that there was no plan for them, but the mystery that each game's open-endedness brought was super interesting and i'd love to see some indie or even triple-a devs try to replicate that. ive seen stuff like it, but nothing has ever quite captured the mystique brought about by your games. glad to see you revisit these in such a chill manner, and i cant wait to see what the future of your channel holds

honestly watching these games in action years ago made this seem as an scary as hell game with a weird mystery unsolved. but looking at it with the darkness removed and with the developer commentary, it just seems like a normal place I could fix up in a few hours on roblox studio. It's kinda amazing how these map can seem so big by masking it in the dark. you did amazing work! :)

it's fascinating to see a big part of my spooky childhood ended up being so simple. You were my and so many other's inspiration for creating myths. (while the majority of us can all admit it was mostly for clout lmao) it's really cool to see the behind-the-scenes. the funniest part to me is how people kept trying to guess what the story of RUST was. And it ended up just being a dude who wanted to make spooky games

I gotta say, your games made my childhood. Even though they were a little spooky for a kid, i found joy in that. I spent time watching flamingo play your games and theorize about it. I then would play them on my own and scare myself. It was super fun and even if there wasnt much of a story to it. They still made my life what it was. 😊 I enjoyed this and i enjoyed the little rust series. Glad to have been there for this 🎉

The fact that you made these games without a storyline or anything planned really shocked me, because, a person in one of Alberts videos made a good point/theory about the rust games being based off this one serial killer who killed people AROUND THOSE SPECIFIC abandoned places, the serial killer also used a RUSTY KNIFE and the barcode on it was 010. Was it not based on that? Here, let me paste the original comment from Alberts video: "Yes. This is all one big prank. The Johnsons were murdered at that shack and the person who did it left their knife, the barcode on the knife was 010, and it was a rusty knife. There was a guy named Mike Stevenson who died there with a smile. I investigated a little more on this topic and found 6 casses of dead families who died from a rusty knife. The location's of there deaths formed a circle around the shack. There was also another family known as the Rogers, who lived in the shack. They found a horrible thing in the basement. It was behind a box which of course, had rust next to it. Behind the box was a rusty metal bin that had an eyeball, a lung, and an ear in it. So this rust killer is definitely NOT a joke. The guy that's doing this probably just wants to scare you, or make you go to that shack. I recommend NEVER EVER going near or in it. The police have placed restricted sign's all over. If you're a reckless teen, DON'T GO NEAR OR IN IT. I saw a story of two teens who went in probably expecting to come out, but they didn't and they found their bodies on the floor, one in the bathroom with a broken skull with a knife sticking through, and the other with a lawn mower caught on his leg, and his leg was a bloody mess, police say the guy with the lawn mower on his leg, was still alive but something had slit his throat. Another story was a married couple went to this shack and the man was found dead in the kitchen with a knife in his head, and the woman was found with her chest and stomach split open and she was missing a few organs. So I think that this psycho rust killer, collects body parts and organs for something. Flamingo I recommend to NOT go near or in that shack."

That story is definitely fake, just the way they describe the murders and timeline and everything seems like just a story. Also you could probably just google search that and find nothing or something from the same poster/ more misinformation on Rust the account. I also find it very hard to believe that a man survived a slit throat, that’s the one wound you will guaranteed never survive unless you’re lucky. It’s like getting shot point blank in the head. Still a very creative story though. Props to whoever made it.

Thanks for making this video! It's interesting that this myth was actually just you having fun and making scary games. I feel like if your character did have lore, they would probably be some dweller who loved scaring people that decided it was a good idea to explore these abandoned and haunted areas. Although, the approach you were taking with your unfinished game made sense too. The fake players being androids that stalked the real players would have also been a chilling plot. Me and some other random friends a while back tried to make a myth, but the hardest part for us too was writing a good story. I was maybe thinking of making a myth of my own now that I have much more experience and resources, but I've been busy with another project I'm helping a friend with. I suppose having a little myth on the side wouldn't hurt, though. Anyways, you've been a huge influence on me in terms of making me want to get involved in the myth community, even if you didn't quite understand what a myth was. I thank you for that.
