Nativefall Everyone understands SSJ2 drains alot of energy, but when Goku said to Caulifa, "you should master 2 before you try ssj3" meaning he already mastered two. So, there'd be an insanely minimized stamina drain. So, he can and should use SSJ2 more. SSJ3 is complete shit though.

I think it's a retcon. The original idea of AT was to put SSG to be exclusive to the ritual that we saw in BoG. It's limited in time but gave power increasing to the user. Then, bringing the idea of SSB as the next level of saiyan's God form by training in RoF and so on. In manga, it doesn't matter since toyotaro idea never gave SSG power absorbed by goku.

Dayguard while goku didn't use ssg, he did use his normal super sayian forms to conserve his energy . Goku probably didnt use the red form before because super sayian was already strong and fast enough to keep up with his opponent. Dyspo was too fast and strong for a normal super sayian so goku switched to ssg to boost his power even more without wasting stamina. this

Question though: I've heard people talk about how Goku has 'two base forms' right now, one where he is normal and which follows the traditional track of the golden super saiyans, and another base form where he channels god Ki, making that base form much more powerfull (even more arguably than all the golden forms) such as he did when he fought Frieza in resurrection F that transforms into the god forms. Now obviously, the tracks arent so rigid anymore and he can swap between them at will seemingly, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it (and if you have already sorry, mustve missed the vid)

Goku only seems powerful when he's in SSG. He seems so much weaker in SSB, like when Gohan and Android 17 could contend with him. In SSG, he's almost tearing apart dimensional fabric. In SSB, he's fighting on par with a human robot. I'm not saying SSG is stronger than SSB, I'm just saying that SSG seems to be portrayed as stronger, and SSB has been dealt a huge injustice. Blue only seemed powerful to me when he won the beam struggle against Merged Zamasu.

Super Sayian God has red flames as the aura, it only makes sense that Super Sayian Blue would be blue, because a blue flame is hotter than a red flame. Blue flames are pure, while red flames are imperfect. It's actually logically brilliant that SSB is the next level up from SSG.

In the past of Dragonball super, we have seen Goku, (especially recently in the universe 7 recruiting episodes) use the yellow Super Saiyan form before switching to blue when he gets serious. Long time watcher first time commenter here haha I agree that he's pacing himself for the long haul, but my theory is( they touched on it last episode ) he's still training even in the tournament. Pushing himself because he realizes he's right on the edge of a major breakthrough or transformation. (That we already have pics for) He's training his base form (or the lowest possible form that he can get away with to not give up to much info to the other fighters) just like when he and vegeta trained on beerus's planet control is key and like you said understanding his power to the fullest pushes him over the edge. I also think something that angers him is going to be the trigger. I bet Jiran either eliminates or hurts/maims Gohan and Goku snaps pushing his anger further then ever before and allowing him to break his limits. I think he does know that he's on the edge that's why he's fighting different warriors with different sets of skills and studying techniques that's why he was so eager to battle Topo at the exhibition. Another way of thinking about why goku saving the red/blue switch up until now is similar to what we've seen in the buu saga. During the kid buu fight we see goku using his strongest form SS3. It has been established that that SS3(SSB) drains crazy stamina, but is stronger than the mastered SS1(SSG) and SS2(Gold hairs). Now, why wouldn't goku fight in Mastered SS1 and quickly transform into SS3 for brief moments during the kid buu fight? He WAS using SS1 to combat buu, but that form was just too weak to even make a difference since the power gap was just too large, so goku just says fuck it and decides to stick with SS3 for the second half of the fight since he was already significantly low on energy. To compare this to the U6 & black arc, sure goku could have did the red/blue switch, but it wasn't ABSOLUTELY necessary since (A) goku only had to fight 2 opponents in both arcs so the stamina loss from blue wouldn't be THAT significant (B) the power gap between hit/goku black was greater than SSG to the point where he might as well stick to blue and try to finish as quickly as possible (considering the cocky person that goku is) But now in the tournament , goku isn't in the situation where he can just focus on 1-2 opponents and unleash all he's got. If he does, sure, maybe he can quickly knoch out people like toppo and hit depending on what happens, but that'll leave him open to some of the fodder characters like kale and caulifla ect... So he needs a way to maximize his stamina, and SSR has the luxury of not having that much of a negative power gap compared to the other ssb-tier characters in the ring (as few of them that are near that level). Let's be honest here... Besides U7 members/Jiren... Who in the tournament are as much of a threat as Goku Black/Hit.

In episode 13, Beerus states his Super Saiyan form merged with the power of God, and Goku states explicitly he did not get any weaker. Minute: 23 Context: Beerus points out to Goku that he’s no longer Super Saiyan God Beerus: “You’re out of time, aren’t you? After all, your Super Saiyan God aura has vanished! You’re a bit slow on the uptake.” Goku: “Huh? When did that happen? But I don’t feel like I’ve gotten weaker at all! What’s going on, Beerus-sama?” Beerus: “Don’t ask me!” Goku: “But you’re a god, right?” Beerus: “Well, it seems that the power of Super Saiyan God didn’t just vanish when time ran out. The power has fully merged with you and become your own. God’s crimson radiance still burns inside you like a flame.” God cannot be equal to Super Saiyan, yet stronger than Super Saiyan 3, that doesn't make any god damn sense. All that got retcon unfortunately, I liked how was in the movies Goku base on the level as SSG and SSB to tap into God Ki. There far too many SSJ forms, now it's all tedious, repetitive, and it makes SSJ lose all it's mystique. Not only that, but it undercuts all advice and training Goku and Vegeta got from Whis, about how it's important to train your base forms.

Now the new front facing picture of Goku in his new transformation has the exact same Beed of energy flowing upwards. Blue form doesn't have this only God mode have. Finally! This is pretty spot on stuff, but just 1 correction. With Goku vs Beerus, it wasn't that Goku lost his SSG form in the middle of the fight solely because he didn't understand god ki at the time. *Goku lost the SSG form because it was the ritual version, and the ritual's con is that it runs on a **_time limit_** .* That's why Goku lost it. But since then, Goku had a little head start and fully achieved his god form the same way Vegeta did, and that's through Whis's training. Also, it's a given that Vegeta has the SSG form. We already know he has SSB and we already know that the SSB form is the ascended version of SSG.

E-ink, you have to remember that when Goku was fighting Black in ssj1 and ssj2 was when Black was in the past, in our earth, and he was there physically thanks to the temporal ring in his hand, but he didn't have the full power with him in past-earth, his power was in the future (he mentions it). (that's why the aperture collapses and returns back to the future) He couldn't be in the past for much time and with his full power. Thats why Goku didn't need more than ssj2 with him.

The thing about the anime AND manga is that neither explain why SSG is a still a thing. For Goku, it makes sense, as he actually achieved the form before and it's possible for him to re-learn it. But for Vegeta, it's stupid. Simple as that. Even worse, it doesn't appear that he even learned it from Whis. No, if anything, he's seemed to learn the form while training inside the Room of Spirit and Time. In my eyes, transforming into SSG is like going SSB, but without the Super Saiyan part.

This still confuses the Hell outta me. How is SSG stronger than regular SSJ? We saw Goku fight Beerus as a regular SSJ just as well as he did in God Form. So how is God not only stronger than that, but stronger than SSJ2 and SSJ3? This is impossibly confusing. They're trying to make SSG and SSB into SSJ4 and SSJ5 and it makes 0 sense considering that isn't what these forms were made to be.

These responses are confusing. Super Saiyan God is stronger than Super Saiyan. In SSG, Goku was able to fight Beerus, though he didn't win. When he initially fought Beerus as a normal SS, Goku got stomped. Super Saiyan God was achieved by the power of five Saiyans. I'm not sure being a Super Saiyan is required, but everyone did go into the form. It's obvious from Super that God Ki is much stronger than normal Ki. Super Saiyan Blue is easy to explain. Goku goes Super Saiyan God, and then goes Super Saiyan in that form, resulting in blue. It's not that he goes through the forms, but that's the easiest way to explain SSB

Goku "chose not to use Blue" for one fight. But he's been using it almost every other fight in the tournament. So if he knew before the tournament about the advantages of Red, him not using it until now makes no sense, since stamina conservation was his main goal the whole time, and Red is better at that than Blue. But if he just figured it out this episode, that makes slightly more sense. Because Goku knowing Red conserves stamina better and still spamming Blue, is no different from Goku knowing bulky muscles slow him down and still using them.

I know I'm off topic but think about it... when Vegeta fought black and dominated him and then he picked him up by his hair and punched him, Vegeta said "Because I am the Saiyan prince VEGETA -SAMA" and then he powered up to the point there was little bolts of electricity in his God form. If you didn't notice look up "Vegeta dominates Black" and you can even hear the electrical sound effects. So what if Vegeta did something Goku didn't do and thats advance from SSGSS to SSGSS2? Makes me think of the game where you see different attributes. Like stamina, max ki, max health. I have NOT researched ki fully but i have broken it down in my head where you might have all types of ki(maybe mortal k, god ki, angelic ki, Kai ki, destruction ki, creation ki, strength ki, resilience ki, agility/speed ki, special ability ki, etc.) and depending on the ki is how it effects the body and saiyans show it more visually through transformations.

I think the bigger question with this form that a lot of ppl sleep on is that healing factor that they showed in the Anime. It was never explained if it was a one time thing or if that's actually a part of the God power.
