Explaining The Cryptic Gene ( My Perspective )

I know we are amping back into busier season with clutches and egg cuttings, but I think (and would be very interested in) a series from you guys about different morphs and how to identify them and how they blend with other morphs in popular combos, would be amazing. You get into details that others that do similar videos miss. Also, this would be handy, and might be able to put a little into the egg cutting videos when you guys are saying what you think is in the babies. But maybe add a bit more to the why on some of them. Like clown, I have heard of them, seen a few, but only recently learned what was many by 'teardrop' in them... I had thought it was something to do with markings on face under the eye... Nor realizing it was in reference to pattern down the side of their body. Just a thought! I love you guys! And once I get official business launched, look forward to exchanging shirts and stickers! I've already learned more from Billy's vids than any forum, or webpage, explaining the identifiers of the morphs. Just flooding my mind with snakes while BIlly and Austin rattle off gene combos until I learn by osmosis. Works for learning another language right?

THIS IS AMAZING. if only my biology teacher was this passionate about genetics, I would have paid more attention as a teen and retained it into adulthood better. I adore how you've written it out and explained it. And having the living breathing PROOF in the snakes is awesome. Very clear Billy. Well done on that explanation. I had my suspicion with that last year when you had mentioned something about it only showing up with your clowns. Now it time for everyone to see if it works with all clowns or if there are clowns that it wont mix with. Thus creating different clown lines, similar to axanthic.

I think this explains it really well and I agree about the cryptic morph being recessive. The crypton makes me think of incomplete dominance, though... but I am not sure if that's in snake morphs!

No, you explained it clearly, now I understand why they are so expensive on Morph market. I'm positive you'll prove out your theory this season it's perfectly logical. To bad Cryptic is allelic with Clown, those would be amazing looking visuals but that's the way it goes sometimes. At least we can add Enchi and DG to clown and that's pretty close in my opinion. Great work on this this project by the way. I'm surprised that DG and Clown aren't allelic since you brought up that Cryptic comes from a DG line.

Awesome explanation, Billy. I had a feeling it would be recessive when I saw the early pictures of people posting their Cryptics and 'Cryptons' a couple years ago. I love the Crypton term and I think a lot of these Cryptic breeders should adopt it into their vernacular. I've seen so many 'mislabeled' animals for sale as Clown het. Cryptic or Cryptic het. Clown which misrepresents what the actual genetics are imo. It definitely makes sense that these are allelic genes and hopefully people will start to label a little more accurately now. Thanks for making this video!
