Something to keep in mind when you consider the Emperor's plan is that the 4 Chaos Gods stopped their Great Game to briefly unite and try to put a stop to the plan. That is how scared they were of what he was planning on doing. Chaos United is a near impossible thing to accomplish, so them actually doing so to stop him gives legitimate credence to whether his plan might have worked in subduing the Warp and removing the Chaos Gods' power.
@marmyeater10 ай бұрын
It would have weakened them, but their power is largely self-sustaining.
@cyrusserapheth955510 ай бұрын
From the HH novels, the Imperial Truth was basically a temporary solution to blunt their power. The end-game was to gain entry into the Webway, fortify the human sections to hell, and move all psykers into the Webway for safe-keeping while humanity slowly develops into a psychic species. Once a critical mass is achieved, all the human psykers in the Webway would combine their powers with the Emperor to use the Astronomicon to scour the Warp and "break" the gods entirely. The theory is sound, apparently, and it could have worked... but obviously that's not what happened. Thanks Magnus.
@RvEijndhoven10 ай бұрын
The problem with that is that that is not how 40K works. A big part of how 40K works as a setting is that everything about the Imperium is such a huge pile of irony that even Perturabo would go 'that's too much iron'. The Emperor hated religion and now he's worshipped as a god. The Adeptes Custodes are so obsessed with protecting the Emperor and so afraid of him losing the final bit of strength he has left that they're sacrificing a thousand psykers every day to keep him in stasis... Where he is in perpetual agony due to being trapped on the very edge of death, even though his nature as a Perpetual means allowing him to finish dying would guarantee his eventual return at full strength. The Lords of Terra and the Inquisition are so afraid of the taint of Chaos that they're maintaining a massive, deeply fascist state, dedicated to perpetual war, where repression and widespread famine and disease plague the common people while the upper crust spends all its time either scheming or indulging in decadent pleasures. All of which are things that feed and strengthen the Chaos gods. The Adeptus/Cult Mechanicus' belief in Machine Spirits and their obsession with protecting those Machine Spirits from the corruption of Chaos is, ironically, exactly the thing that imbues technology with enough psychic/soul energy to allow Daemons to possess machines and create Daemon Engines. The hatred directed towards mutants is due to the belief that they are tainted by Chaos (which, by and large, they're not. The subtext makes it clear most mutations are the result of people being forced to work with all sorts of chemicals or around unshielded nuclear reactors with little to no protective gear) and it is exactly that hatred and ostracism that drives mutants into the waiting arms of Chaos cults. Etc... If Big E's plans had any chance of success at any point, it wouldn't be 40K. Indeed, the thing that was far more important in causing his plans to fail than the involvement of the Chaos gods was the fact that he absolutely refused to tell anyone what the plan was. Almost as if, maybe, there was never any plan at all and he was just winging it.
@Pragabond10 ай бұрын
If there wasn't a chance for it to work then the Chaos Gods wouldn't have looked at all I feel like you're conflating the branding (grimdark) needing to stay the same with the setting itself literally working under "things literally can't get better". That would be super boring since it just turns every question about how things got so bad into "cursed universe" which is just...there's nothing there. There's no conversation to have at that point. No one had any free will to do better and all struggles were facades so its just empty now. Also Tzeentch exists and he's a representation of change and hope which shouldn't exist if there is actually no possibility for better days. I'm pretty sure ways that would work to deal with even the Chaos Gods exist as real possibilities in 40k its just that GW isn't ever going to write those stories. There is a difference though. But like nothing you said really refutes that's not how 40k works. Your explanation is just your headcanon but also it fails to explain why the Chaos Gods bothered to work together. I appreciate the comparisons and all legitimately but none of that proves anything beyond that being your headcanon that happens to do a worse job explaining the thing in question
@RvEijndhoven10 ай бұрын
@@Pragabond Ok, so the thing is: The Emperors plan wouldn't have worked. We *know* it would never have worked because Emps was wrong about the nature of Chaos. Big E was under the mistaken impression that the thing that powers Chaos is belief. As outside observers we know that he was wrong and that the thing that actually powers Chaos is _emotion_ and you don't need to even be aware of the Chaos Gods to empower them. That's why the Eldar accidentally created Slaanesh despite worshipping in a whole pantheon of different gods. The Emperor was working on ensuring human control of the Webway because he assumed that if he succeeded in wiping out all religion, that would end the Warp and therefore humanity would need another way to travel faster than light. But _we_ know that's not how the Warp works. The Realm of Chaos is part of the Warp, but before the War in Heaven, it was just a small, relatively insignificant corner of the Warp at large. Defeating Chaos (which his plan was never going to succeed in doing any way) would not just not have ended the Warp, but actually lead to the Warp becoming a *safer* way of travelling. The whole reason that the Warp became dominated by Chaos is that there was a galaxy-wide war causing untold suffering for millennia and billions of dead and the Emperor's plan to end Chaos was to launch a galaxy-wide war causing untold suffering for millennia and billions of dead... Of course it was never going to work, he was repeating the exact same thing that led to Chaos becoming what it is in the first place. We *know* that the thing that actually drew the eyes of Chaos on what the Emperor was doing, wasn't that if he succeeded it would be bad for Chaos Gods (because we know it wouldn't), but the fact that all the misery and death that the Great Crusade caused empowered them and they wanted more of that. And everyone who assumes that the Chaos Gods corrupting Horus and exactly half of the Primarchs was a response to the Emperor's plans misses out on one crucial detail: The Horus Heresy didn't end in the defeat of the Imperium. It ended in a stalemate where two equally powerful factions of Humanity are locked into an eternal war. A war that continues to feed Chaos with lots of souls and negative emotions far more effectively than a victory by either side would have. If the Imperium had won, the Great Crusade would eventually end and while the ensuing galaxy wide repressive police state would have provided the Chaos Gods with a steady supply of sustenance (because the Emperor's conviction that Chaos is only fed if people are aware it exists was dead wrong), it wouldn't be the absolute feast of an enduring forever war. If Chaos had won, the lack of a common enemy would have caused the worshippers of Chaos to start fighting amongst themselves and while that would be a magnificent banquet, it would also be a brief one. Eventually the mortals worshipping Chaos would destroy each other (as has happened countless times before) and then the Chaos Gods have to wait another couple of million years for another sentient species to evolve and start feeding them again. The actual thing that would defeat Chaos is for there to be no sentient living things with emotions in existence to feed it. So... You know, either a complete victory by the Tyranids (whose hivermind is sentient, but doesn't feel emotions) or a complete victory by the Necrons (who are sentient and feel the echoes of emotions, but aren't alive in a way that matters for the Warp since they don't have souls anymore).
@mxviii10 ай бұрын
Little lore correction: The Birth of Slaanesh actually cleared the warp storms and made warp travel possible for humanity again. The Age of Strife was caused by the Eldars hedonism and Slaanesh's incubation in the warp. The reason the Eldar never noticed this was because they dont use the warp to travel.

Important note to add to the Age of Technology: Humanity managed to form something akin to Star Trek's Federation with most xenos factions, but when Slaaneesh was born the AI humanity invented had it's machine spirit corrupted and went rogue. Most xenos, instead of helping, either ignored or even betrayed humanity and that's why humanity hates xenos to much ever since Edit: The emperor didn't kill the Thunder Warriors to make himself look better, but because they were degenerating so badly they started comiting atrocities and he wanted to keep their reputation as the heroes they were before having their minds deteriorate. And then he also made the Adeptus Custodes (before the Astartes and Primarchs) so it was never about him doing it alone, and the deal the Emperor made was that they'd get half of the Primarchs, what Erda did was throw her kids into the warp into the hands of the Chaos Gods, that's why most of them have mutations like Sanguinius' wings, Konrad Kurze's madness and the same for all 20 of them

If you are a lost cause and have lost life signs they quickly remove the organs before the organs can die or else they would be useless. The organs are worth a lot of money so there have been incidents with organ harvesters and hospitals lossening the criteria of death so they have a larger window to grab the organs. People who theoretical could have still been saved. These are massive scandals and are not allowed but there are chances of it happening. The point is you do still have to be technically alive to donate it just the greedy that are taking the organs from people actually fully alive.

My opinion of the Emperor is he's the kind of been a person that, through most of history, just sat back and kind of let humanity do its thing. But then came the revolt of the iron men and all the loss that came after. It was there that he had a choice to either do nothing and let humanity continue as is and quite possibly die out or be reaped by the chaos gods or to step up and take charge knowing all the....honestly really horrible things it would take to save it. Because in the end that IS his greatest goal, the protection of humanity. Did he take it to far in some cases? Absolutely. But i think that in his eyes we were in such a bad place and the galaxy was so different then it was in the Golden Age that turning to Occam's Razor was the closest thing to a surefire bet he had at his disposal. "Are aliens bad? Not all, but do we have the time and manpower to figure out which ones are good and which ones will put mind bugs in our heads and control governments? No. Then wipe them out and move on." This kind of shows with what happened with the Thunder Warriors. They were a tool that was needed at the time...but they were a broken tool improperly made and useless to go do what needed to be done and so, when given the choice to kill them or leave them be and have a bunch of super powered psychotics left on terra, he "retired" them. The Imperial Creed was less a manifesto and more an emergency pamplet on how to save a race in a galaxy where their bodies and literal souls were at risk.

We don't know the exact time period and circumstances of why. But he is believed to have originated during prehistoric human times on ancient terra i.e. 10,000 BC, for a ballpark to take with a grain of salt. He is the direct result of a mass suicice(dozens at least)/psychic pact, of ancient guardian shamans, who infused all their strength and psychic power into one individual. The emperor was present throughout all of human history, under different names and deeds, but never really revealed himself until the Age of Strife
