16:26 Ironically despite being known as Da Shen Bian, or God-Striking Whip, Jiang Ziya (Taigong Wang) kills almost no immortals worth their salt during the Investiture of the Gods, at best he wounds them a bit using it and drives them back, typically right after they beat his ass, but before they manage to kill him... unfortunately this strategy doesn't always pan out as Jiang Ziya was slain multiple times during his quest to overthrow the Shang (in the Investiture of the Gods, not real history obviously), and had to be brought back to life by his other Daoist seniors and students, also I'm not sure what you mean by this item not being mentioned in Investiture of the Gods as it certainly was... Almost every time Jiang Ziya enters battle this weapon shows its face. 17:54 This bird is known as the Golden-Eyed Divine Warbler, in Investiture of the Gods it was brought into China from Beihai, it is a legendary beast sealed within a red cage, with eyes like lanterns and claws made of steel, specializing in hunting demons, this beast belonged to Huang Feihu, in Chapter 28 of the book, after Daji and the King of Shang and gotten drunk from a banquet, Daji forgets herself in her stupor, transforms into her fox form, and exits the palace during the night to hunt and eat humans (cause you know, she's a demon), she eventually runs into Huang Feihu and attempts to attack him as well, Huang Feihu releases the warbler and it scars Daji's face, causing the latter to sober up and flee, and thus began her hatred for Huang Feihu. This bird is important as not only was it able to wound Da Ji, it also protected Huang Feihu from being eaten, as when he ran into Daji he was just leaving a banquet and thus had no weapons on him, also due to this bird marking the beginning of Huang Feihu and Daji's mutual hatred, eventually leading to the former leaving the Shang, despite being one of its most ardent defenders and second highest military officer (directly subservient to only Wen Zhong, the supreme commander of the entire Shang military), and featuring in the chapter that Jiang Ziya officially begins his campaign, you could interpret this bird as the catalyst for the beginning of the end for the Shang.
