Explaining Wicked but I barely understood what it was about.

Ever since the movie came out in 2024, people cannot stop talking about Wicked. And like so many people, I bought the book that the musical (and later movie) was based off of. But nothing could've possibly prepared me for what I was about to watch.
From o*gies to secret children, the Wicked book is a 20-hour wild ride. It's almost nothing like the movie and quite frankly, I didn't feel like I was entirely conscious while reading it. Surely Nessarose being a religious extremist was something I just dreamt up and not in the actual book, right?...RIGHT?

I tried to read this back ~2007ish and I noped out when I got to that scene…. I never heard anyone else talking about that part in the book though so until recently I thought maybe I’d misunderstood/misread somehow. validating at least that it wasn’t my brain that came up with it 😅
