Great video thank you! What is your opinion on epigenetic memories? could they possibly be transferred in the Amygdala?

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer

Isn't the striatum responsible more so in the implicit memory system? Please clarify.

EXPLICIT MEMORY: sense of recalling something either a fact or an event from the past. requires conscious attention. stored in hippocampus. (hippocampus in right hemisphere stores events. hippocampus in left hemisphere stores facts.) IMPLICIT MEMORY: - happens when triggered, body tense... you are likely having an implicit memory, no sense or experience of recall, it just comes. does NOT require conscious attention. - happens in the amygdala... 4x/second asking: "am i safe? do i matter?" - scans the present and evaulates it against dangerous, unresolved things from the past... - what gets stored: behaviors, emotions, body sensations and mental models (fundamental/core beliefs about ourself and the world) - ie: war vet dives for cover when hearing loud sounds...... a bomb or a car engine - doesn't matter, the memory and behavior and fear, etc. just come with hearing the loud sound. @4:50 EXPERIMENT: 19th century neuroscientist dr. calpert's patient had a damaged hippocampus story: no explicit memory. she couldn't remember events. each appointment is new for her - like starting over. one day: she shakes hands as they do at the start of each appointment, and she gets pricked by a pin hidden in his hand. next appointment: he goes to shake her hand, and she pulls away. why? she has no hippocampus, she doesn't remember last week's incident. however, her amygdala is not damaged... she still has implicit memory. he asks: why don't you want to shake my hand? she answers with a mental model... a belief she had formed based on a traumatic experience: "because sometimes doctors do things that hurt you." her new belief about how the world works, based on that one traumatic experience with that doctor.

warning: implicit memory is located in the cerebellum NOT THE AMYGDALA

Apart from the good video, the poor lady can do Namaste like Indians do. No need to shake hands with anyone :p
