I work in food safety and have done so for the canned food industry. This is a good video that demonstrates the danger of bulging cans, if anyone ever finds a can in their cupboard or store they work at, be very careful because spoilage in the can can cause this type of explosion. Great video!

Splendid work. I have seen the devastation that a sealed can of 'Poulet Riz' can make on a campfire when it goes up. One second there was a fire with dinner cooking,the next there was NO fire and NO can of 'Poulet Riz'. Just some puffed rice and a burnt hole.
@TheBypasser5 жыл бұрын
Pretty sad those cans are pre-cut to make it easier to open 'em by hand. We once tried "opening" a solid can like that and that was a true mess. A minute before the actual explosion we shut the torch off to inspect, and the can was spherical in shape, making a nice glass-like sound if hit with a finger - thus hinting it is above the 100 atm point. When it finally went off, it was reduced to metal shreds with the contents scattered like everywhere, the shockwave even managed to throw the gas tank aside (it was a 2l tank put horizontally on the ground - yet it still managed to lift it up and throw). The sound was also fantastic - there was no sharp bang or whatever - just a solid bass that feels like it is shaking all your guts :)

Try to push a full soda can deeply inside molten aluminium plz, at my work they said that it could destroy a house.
@thiesenf6 жыл бұрын
It would for sure destroy a house... if the house is just a tiny bit bigger than the soda can and molten aluminium... but not an ordinary sized house unless you put lots of materials that can catch fire and then burn down the house...
@Beyondthepress6 жыл бұрын
@@thiesenf I think it can result pretty large boom. 300g of water will result around 600 liters of steam and all that will happen pretty fast. If your room has volume of around 15m^3 it will result 0.04 bar over pressure which generates about 2.4 tons of force to each wall. So at least if you don't have any large windows on the room and it's relatively lightly built I would say that the walls are going to go down.

@@Beyondthepress You need to make sure that aluminium make a shell to prevent water from escaping. -If you pour molten aluminium into water, water will not be surrounded by aluminium and will just boil. -If you pour water into aluminium it will just float and boil -If you push a soda can in aluminium with a stick the aluminium that surround the can will become solid, making a huge bottle of water that will quickly turn into a huge gas cylinder until water is so hot that the cylinder will start melting and BOOM.

When I was a teenager I went camping in northern Michigan with some friends and roofed during the day. Everything was so expensive so we bought a can of spegetti o's for each of us and cooked it on a flat shovel and put it onto the coals of the fire. My friend only poked a small hole in the top of his can and it sprayed hot spegetti o's all over him.

@cluelessbeekeeping13226 жыл бұрын
@Heretobenosey Maybe if you altered your method a bit. Try this. Place mouth just above the can so you can get the food while it's less spread out. As an added bonus, this will take less time. The food is traveling much faster right out of the can vs. while it's falling from the sky. Just a suggestion.

Maybe a thin sheet metal housing for tin cans so you can launch it multiple times, quickly replacing the tin with something else, try different things to see which makes it fly the best.
