when I saw the stove and the pile of cans, I put 2 and 2 together.. I used to love camping! I'll keep this short, but I have many tips, just the tips. we would wait until the fire burns down to a nice bed of hot coals, then find a nice hot place for it to aim from. baked bean cans work the best, the ones with a rounded bottom that can only open from the top, one less failure point. when you put the can in, it's instinct to run away, but no need. you can take your time, but once you start to hear the lid pop, get away and keep a good distance. we always kept back 50 feet (15 meters) although the can could possibly make it that far with good force. it can take 20-40 minutes before it'll explode, but don't get close to check on it. from what I've seen, the longer it takes to release its furry, the better the show. after it goes off, you can follow the can down into the trees with a flashlight at night, or a few times we'd find the can in the woods with the imprint of a tree branch where it wrapped itself around. there's usually not much left but a hole in the ground where the fire was. logs can be thrown 10 feet away, and the entire area covered in glowing ashes.
