I'm not trying to be an elitist, but the bare minimum for good board game design has evolved way past this, and I wish your next title would acknowledge more of what the industry has learned over the years: - player elimination means losers have to sit around and wait for someone to win. That's not fun, just like it isn't in Risk & Monopoly - two classic but bad games. - Sheriff of Nottingham has done this "Trust me, the good thing(s) are in the bag!" mechanic in a much more interesting way. Credit where credit is due, a previous statement is incorrect, you did think through that bad things have to come out of the bag if you have to give more Bad Things than a die roll you've been awarded. I would love nothing more than to see a greater focus on game design in the future Marry that with your whimsy cartoon fun and I think it'll bring you more success.

You're not wrong with Sheriff of Nottingham but that's also a bigger game in terms time and components. Also Sheriff of Nottingham's bluff game is hindered by a very big loophole: There's no real reason to smuggle the bad things. If you just keep trading legal goods you never take a hit and have a damn good chance of winning. At least this introduces a reason to grab bad things.

The only thing you can say is "my hand is full of bad things, will you take them?" That seems limiting. I would think that you should be saying whatever you think will make the other person do what you want them to do.

Can't you say "my hand has the good thing"?

or I have 2 bad things, but one good thing
@lugo88242 жыл бұрын
@@loganboi2166 don't think that is allowed. You either have to take a number of bad things OR the good thing.

Sorry. A bit late. You can lie. Hell, I'm sure you can say ANYTHING you can't. But, obviously, you can't show it.

If you just never accept something in someone's hand and you only take the good thing each turn, you can never lose
@SPaterson652 жыл бұрын
That won’t work. You still have to offer the good thing to others and if they accept then they give you the dice number of bad things from their pile.

Technically yes, but it'll be an infinite stalemate with 2 people if they do the same thing.
@OnefootintheGravy Жыл бұрын
@@theslimeyboi surely the dice will stop that happening. If you keep rolling low numbers and your opponent high numbers, they will eventually win?
@theslimeyboi Жыл бұрын
@@OnefootintheGravy I meant if both players only grabbed the good thing each turn the bad things would just cycle back and forth.
@OnefootintheGravy Жыл бұрын
@@theslimeyboi yes, so in your turn you roll a 5, take the good thing, and give me 5 bad things. My turn, I roll a 1, take the good thing, but only give you 1 bad thing. If I carried on getting low rolls I'd lose. But thinking about it that is only assuming there are 10 bad things in play. If we both start with 2 and only took the good thing, how do you get more bad things in play?
