Mechanic here, Tesla’s (and all electrical vehicles) is actually really heavy for their sizes because of the size of the lithium battery it holds. Normal engines (or ice engines meaning internal combustion engine) are actually lighter.

Electric cars are actually heavier than gas cars. those batteries are gigantic and heavy as all hell. I don't know how big the tesla batteries are, but I know that an audi e-tron is heavy as can be. If you crash with that thing in an old car it is lietrally going through you without a worry in the world. I'm guessing the tesla is also really heavy.

Teslas have the whole bottom packed full with lithium batteries (literally from front to back), that’s heavier than a motor (just less frontload) they aren’t lighter than normal cars Then again the average car in USA max be heavier than a Tesla considering that people there just feel like they need a SUV for every day life (for absolutely no reason)
