I've been trying to teach my son some chess techniques following your pawn endgame videos, and as I was explaining "trousers" to him, he surprised me with a genius analogy he uses to conceptualize it. He thinks of the position as "leaky pipes", where water (the pawns) is dripping down the pipes (open files), and the opponent's King is trying to catch the water drops with a bucket so his floor doesn't get wet (pawns promote). It seemed so intuitive and simple that we call it 'leaky pipes' now instead of trousers.

18:39 Taking the extra pawn on a7 actually looks quite dangerous because there might be ideas of c6 which restricts the light-squared bishop’s escape squares and black might gain quite a bit of activity on the queenside. Maybe Bxa7 c6 and immediately Be3? Retreating everything? Idk.

Im struggling to explain. When his opponent wins or loses his opponent is gaining or losing hundreds of elo at a time cuz he doesnt have enough games played yet, and so his rating isnt really a true reflection of his strength.
@RG001100
@RG001100 Жыл бұрын
"provision" is providing/supplying.. when you're a new player in a pool of players, it's not clear what your elo should be, but you're provided with some elo, and it will take some games before it settles to a more accurate elo.
