Those origami 💵 were so clever! Looked like a great little Parisian restaurant😋 No. 1 beach in the US, that’s a big title! The slide looks so fun! Skylar you’re brave getting so close to the swans, the ones in England are pretty aggressive and would definitely hiss if we got that close! 🦢 You guys did so much before it even got to midday! A shady spot with soft sand and a tropical drink sounds dreamy, Bongos looks perfect, that and the Reggae would’ve kept us there for lunch and beyond! Love the new hat choice! 😍
@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we think the title is well deserved, but of course we are quite biased! Bongos is definitely one of our new favorites. The Reggae music was a definite plus. Glad those swans were nicer than the England versions, or I may be missing an eye right now😄

@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
Hello, Violeta. Both establishments do also have designated parking spots for people who are visiting the beach bars or restaurants. We're not sure if anyone monitors the lots or if they would care if you went to the beach after visiting their establishments. There is also metered parking on 64th Street about .4 miles north of Tradewinds and a public beach access parking at 4700 Gulf Blvd about .5 miles south of Bongos. You can use the parking app to add time to your meter electronically if you end up staying at the beach longer than expected. We hope this helps!

Hi Allison, We have not stayed at either Marriott, so we are not able to advise you on which is nicer/better. I see a lot of the same shelters on beach. Can you bring your own cabana or sun shelter? How much to rent the yellow shelters?
@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can bring your own sun shelter. We have used the small pop up tents but do see people set up large tents as well. I believe you just have to take them down at night. The yellow cabanas are rented through rental companies like Sand Dunes Beach Services (sanddunebeachservices.com/). We hope this helps!

Bongos is excellent! The only problem is there is no parking! We have been going there for about three years. The last year, the hotel wouldn't let us park in their lot. So, we started ubering there.
@Explorcation2 жыл бұрын
Yeah we are lucky enough to have family who lives nearby, so we can park at their place and ride our scooters! But now with the new Sunrunner, we can get there for free all the way from downtown St. Pete!

don't get me wrong, I live in st Pete and love our beach but I do think a quick drive to siesta key is worth it. Personally, I think its a little better over the bridge!
@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Glorida! As far as the quality of the sand and the overall quality of the beach itself, we can't disagree. We lived in Sarasota for 7 years and visited Siesta often. We have yet to find sand as soft as Siesta Key! Plus parking is free, and we love Siesta Village. That said, they have no bars or restaurants on the beach at Siesta, and St. Pete Beach has so many. So for us, it's a bit of a toss-up between Siesta, St. Pete Beach, and also Anna Maria Island for our favorite. Have you ever been to been to Anna Maria?

I'm traveling with my family for the first time to Florida, and want to know what beach is better to stay at and swim, st pete beach or clearwater beach?
@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
That's tough they are both great. Overall Clearwater Beach is a little busier and has a little bit more to do. St. Pete Beach is a little less busy and a little less of a party scene, but still offers plenty to do and has many great bars and restaurants right on the beach. If I had to make a recommendation for a family with young kids, I'd recommend St. Pete Beach. Clearwater might be better for a family with teenagers.

Looking at their website, I don't think Park Mobile works in St. Pete Beach or Clearwater anymore (it's been a while since we've had to find public parking in either). Parkmobile does still work in several lots downtown though.

Minimum increments of 12, but you can add much more than that at a time if you prefer.

I waz fortunate enough to live in St Petersburg when I was in my early twenties. I worked at World Liquors on Central Avenue and 16th Street (if my memory is right) within eyesight of a then still empty Florida Suncoast Stadium wherein the Tampa Bay Rays would eventually play. I lived right on Tampa Bay in a reasonably priced apartment. I'm 52 now and lived the remainder of my life in Phoenix. I miss the Bay area greatly and feel like an idiot for leaving it. It's almost painful for me to watch videos like this.
@Explorcation3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony. It's great to hear that you have such fond memories of the area and were able to experience living here for as long as you did. We have not been to Phoenix yet, but we do enjoy visits to the desert now and then. It is starting to get much more expensive to live here, but we are hopeful that we can continue to live in St. Pete as it really is an amazing place. Perhaps you will find your way back here one day as well!
