I really like the two-camera approach. Frequently in other videos I shout "Wait, turn that way!" and in this video one of the two cameras was always looking where I wanted to see.

I appreciate these kinds of videos. As a person with a mobility disability most of the areas outside of a visitor center are not normally accessible to me. These kinds of videos give people like me an opportunity to experience these important historical sites. Especially when you intersperse aids like battle maps and photographs this is extremely informative.

Hello to fellow Civil War buff from down under! I am from Sterling Heights,MI and Gettysburg is my cathedral, when I retire in 5 years. I plan on moving there at that time. If you are a podcast fan there is Addressing Gettysburg, which is fantastic. And Gary is on some of the episodes as well. If you ever come to Gettysburg, you will not find a better group of Americans and how they truly are hospitable they are. And you would be close to a lot of other battlefields nearby as well. So much US history in such a close area. Well have a great day and I wish you can make the trip one day,my friend. And I did travel to your beautiful country in 1985 via the US Navy and Perth and Western Australia was awesome.

Strongly endorse and appreciate this approach. Live 2,000 miles away. I want to see the battlefield. Don’t need the stories about individuals that permeate many presentations. I can find those stories all over the internet and from books. Have never had a good look at Houcks Ridge, or the Rose Woods, from the inside. Plus, the running commentary is awesome content.

I enjoyed this new format for videos. In particular, I liked the split-screen format. (I'm glad you both held your cameras fairly steady and didn't swing them around too much, so there was little danger of vertigo!) I also enjoyed the fact that you showed the battlefield in a season other than high summer. I've been lucky enough to visit Gettysburg, but only during summer vacation. The rocks and pathways all look different when the trees are bare and the cool light of spring floods over everything. And finally, I thought you gave viewers about the right amount of background information. I've enjoyed some recent videos with titles like, "95 Seconds on the Antietam Battlefield," which don't have a lot of audio. They're fun videos too, but I seem to need more than the visual panorama to make sense of what I'm seeing.

Firstly, overall I liked this approach. The two cameras approach seemed to give a greater depth of perspective. the fact that one camera was roughly where the other had just been suggested a battleline (or such). Imagine looking down the line of your company and at the other end is your mate (best buddy) from childhood, both facing the enemy, so also helped with the sense of humanity. Soldiers did not fight alone. The split screen i found distracting. Showing the view or feature from one camera point and then the other, again great perspective and immersion. If i wasn't in the UK I'd be planning a journey there right now. The banter (chat) between the two presenters worked well. Obviously very knowledgeable and enthusiastic historians/curators i think you could have set them out at dawn and they'd still be talking at Dusk (smiles). So again the two cameras works in that it gives two presenters, one can reposition whilst the other informs. The length of the video, 25 to 35 minutes is a good length for a video of this type. The maps, whilst i like maps they did not give a full view and made the encounter seem isolated from the greater scope of the battle. it would have been nice to see Devils den in relation to Gettysburg town then and now. Pointing it out, the den and its locations, in relation to surrounding features, very nice. So overall great, a good direction, no pun intended, for the composition of your videos.

Thank you very much for this video! It's been a few years since I visited (shout out to Jim Vos from Grand Rapids Christian Schools!) and it's fun seeing it again. What might be really interesting would be to have a split screen where the top is the camera and the bottom is an map showing where you are and the direction the camera is pointed. It might help to get a better understanding of the layout of the battle.

Just to listen to you'll talk about the battles and what happened there in 3 days I feel like I can see the battle happen. to also know that both of my Gr-Grandpa's were there fighting one on the 7th New Jersey Volunteers infantry and my other Gr-Grandpa with the 2nd Appomattox Raiders Calvary. First, thank you for documenting the before of this park service project. It will be an important part of the history of this area of the battlefield going forward. Second, I love this format showing different views and perspectives simultaneously on the screen. One suggestion though. Is there a way to label which camera view belongs to which person? Perhaps initials in the upper right corner of the screen? For me, it makes a difference when viewing both of the views on the screen at the same time. I can then put into perspective the location of the videographer in relationship to the view and in relationship to the battlefield. I hope that makes sense.

Really appreciate these tours Garry and Kris. I live in the UK so visiting these wonderful places is hard to do. These give a great perspective of the battle field. Understand the two screen idea and would probably watch it twice to get the best value from the film as I find my attention flitting from one to the other screen and getting disoriented! I wonder if it might be helpful to have a compass 8n a corner so we know what direction you are pointing the camera? Generally I am very much in favour of these walks. Thank you
