I've been living in Turkey for 26 years and this is the first time I heard someone claims eating pork is a mainstream habit in Turkey. This is just a lie. These guys who eats pork may represent %1 of Turks. Banning alcohol at some places bothers me too. People need to be free with their choices...

I don't really have to comment on this one. Thanks for proving me right. I rest my case!... Keep making anti-democratic statements in the US...thats really smart of you. Oh, and they dropped the "u" in American English by the way. In British English it's still "colour". And one more question: What am I supposed to be saved from?

@MeenGheyriAna How do you find me???!! In every video lol! But, on a serious level, I've only met a hand full of ppl who don't eat pork in Turkey... usually old people.

Although poverty is a problem in both Turkey and Saudi Arabia, poverty in Turkey is much worse. Also standard of living in Turkey was even worse before Erdogan.

@TURKOMAN Only the Christian guy among the hunters eats the pork. Notice that they NEVER say they eat pork. They just like to hunt .. I've also never seen any pork in Turkey being sold or eaten. There are some that sell pork but that's very rare and only in big cities with a lot of Christians like Istanbul where in a christian neighborhood you may be able to buy some pork from the lokal butcher.Finding pork in Turkey is almost impossible.

Let it be said that there is a certain level of propaganda involved. For those you who thinks its ruining the image of islam, thats not what this documentary is about. Yes the majority of Turkish people are Muslims. The state itself, however, is not Islamic. Lets be very clear about that distinction. Remember there is no compulsion in Islam, hence Turkey is a model state for the Islamic world to follow in the 21st century. I cannot wait to visit this magnificent country next summer!

This is not a bbc propaganda, in every rural area of turkey hunters hunt and eat wild pigs, it's a very known fact, not only the hunters but also their families eat it. it's some kind of a tradition.

I don't condone anyone threatening anyone who simply feels free to express their freedom, but i would support their cause much more if they were holding PENS in their hand symbolizing the freedom of expression and thought. You can provide a list as long as your arm of problems that has been caused Islamist but i can provide you with a list a100 times as long of what problems alcohol done to Turkey.

so we eat pork, so what??? Islam in Turkey has been shaped in a more suffi way unlike it has been shaped in other middle eastern countries and that doesnt mean we are not proud of our selves. We just separate religion and state and a lot of people are free to follow what ever they would like. Thats why we are the most advanced and modern middle eastern country and we are proud of that.

Real Islam can CAN produce peace and modernity. However, eventually it tends to have a negative impact on free society and general freedom. Only a matter of time before it does its damage in Turkey, unless of course there is a stronger force that continues to push against it and keep it in its place. This is why it is not like Islam in other countries. Its kept in its place. Other countries are a result of Islam having too much of an upper hand. Separation of church and state is best for everyone

I don't think in the modern day world with technology and the world wide web i need to live in a country to understand its politics and social issues, i have a masters in middle eastern studies and studied Islamic sharia for 3 years and could say the same thing about you, cause as i mentioned before the liberals in Turkey or any where else never protested the right of Muslim who wear the hijab by choice. or the rights of Muslims to practice their faith freely

Who said it does? And who said ur only suppose to wear it on Friday when u go to the mosque? and who said ur only suppose to go to the mosque on Friday? NOTICE how i said SUPPOSE, that doesn't mean YOU HAVE TOO but these are the religious requirement for Muslims if ur a non-Muslim or a secular no one is asking you to do anything. Just like you do NOT wish Muslims to push their belief on you, we as Muslims wish secular and atheist stop pushing their belief on us.

People talk about alcohol because it is in plain sight. And you can get harrased openly for it these days whreas before it wasn't a big issue at all. It's just an easy & obvious example to use. It's only one(& the least important I might add)of a long list of freedoms that are being tailored to be removed. As I said it's just the most obvious.I could talk about censorship & the threats & murders that have been commited agaist journalists & cartoonists but you would only know of that superficially.

I do not believe in forcing my beliefs on others but its a fact that alcohol and gambling has ever helped any civilization or society. If the secular society wanna attack Muslims for their beliefs then that's their choice but do not claim to be intellectuals and activist by standing in the street with alcohol shouting like village idiots.
