The scene in the show where she gives birth immediately took me back to when my son was born. When his mother was giving birth we had only a CNA student that was in her clinical training to help deliver. The labor and delivery staff at the hospital were stretched thin from a highly irregular amount of simultaneous births at the L&D department. I’d already delivered two babies in the past while deployed in the Army, so I stepped in and delivered my son. When he finally arrived he wasn’t conscious or breathing. I hit the code call and got to work reviving him while trying to reassure his mother that everything was okay. I lied. I was so scared that my son was stillborn, but he finally began breathing. The relief and joy was indescribable.
